    If you have not been here please do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal. And if you've been here but haven't been within the last year or two you absolutely MUST go ASAP. The owners are new and the service is amazing. Everyone makes sure you are comfortable and satisfied. Seating is limited but they do their very best to accommodate everyone. 100% get the sisig it's so good.

    I had a great experience at Taste of Kawayan tonight The prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite generous. The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, taking his time to explain and recommend popular dishes, which I really appreciated The drinks were excellent, the coconut juice was very refreshing and lightly sweet, and the mango juice had a rich mango flavor. Every dish we tried had its own unique taste and I like them all My favorite was the bitter melon dish (Ampalaya Guisado) it was surprisingly delicious!!! I can eat 10 of them myself hahahhaha! Overall, everything was flavorful and satisfying. Come try if you're looking for comfort Filipino food with great service!!

    We were in the neighborhood and picked up food on the way home. We ordered Bihon (Shrimp), Daing na Bangus, Lumpia Shanghai, and Chicken Adobo. The Lumpia Shanghai was such a good deal, and we didn't have to fight over it. Everything was flavorful, but I was mostly impressed by Daing na Bangus. The fish was fresh, well seasoned, and fried to perfection.

    Now known as TASTE OF KAWAYAN. Finally got to try this place. Unfortunately, they were out of batchoy, an ilonggo dish so I will be back for it. We ordered kare-kare, tokwa't baboy (tofu and pork dish), lomi, carne frita (bistek ilonggo style). The carne frita hit the right spots, as i remembered it when my yaya would cook it at home. The kare-kare was made with crispy pork which made it more delicious. We enjoyed the food and JT, was an awesome staff to deal with, as he is also the son of the owner. We will support this place since the owners are from the same place as I am from, in the Philippines.

    Basta Ilonggo...Namit guid mag luto! Highly recommend the special Batchoy with thin egg noodles, thin slices of pork, liver and crispy lechon kawali. Usually have leftover food to bring home but not this time ... the plate of dinuguan (pork belly cooked in pork blood and vinegar) was cleaned out. Best paired with Puto but they were out of stock. Love the crunchy lumpia! Flavor is on point. Ordered sago't gulaman as a drink ... refreshing :-) Taste of Kawayan is under new management/different owner - a certified Ilonggo / taga Santa Maria ng graduate! Family owned and managed Like the vibe. The decor and interior is instagram worthy ... so is the food. Most likely recommend this restaurant not only with the local Filipinos but out of towners. Price is reasonable moderate but the serving is family sized. Parking is free when we parked right in front of the restaurant, on a Sunday at around 1130 am. Most likely to go back next time and try their best seller crispy pasta, beef Kare kare and pancit palabok.

    Came here with a friend because I was craving Filipino food and this place did not disappoint! Family owned restaurant and the owner walked us through the menu, telling us about the background of the dishes and provided recommendations based on our preferences. We got the lumpia, la paz batchoy, and bistec tagolog and everything was really flavorful. I really liked the bistec tagolog -- the meat was tender, salty and sour and was complimented well by the caramelized onions and rice. Will definitely be back!

    Under new management, the owner and chef, more than warrants your attention. You owe it to your palate to reward it with delightful dishes that feed not just the body but also the soul. They cure tocino in house using a family recipe that goes back decades. You can be sure that the meat are cooked to perfection. Crispy and cruchy according to dish parameters. Tender and juicy to the bite. Even the vegetables are prepared at the right temperature so it's not soggy or overcooked which often happens at asian shops. The seasoning is carefully considered, holding the balance between salt and sweet or have ample kick (bicol express) when needed. I haven't had all of the dishes but have sampled many and they are all very enjoyable. Service is quick and staff are very attentive. They said they will be making sausages soon too. I can't wait.

    A great Filipino restaurant! The crispy pata falls off the bone, ilongo batchoy is like home, pinakbet is the way I like it, not salty . Great a la carte.

    Havent had their food in awhile. For some reason we were craving it this snowy day. We had Crispy Binagoongan and Lumpiang Shanhai for take out which are kinda staples in filipino food. Crisoy Binagoongan is unique its fried pork cooked in their shrimp paste sauce. Normaly they dont fry the pork. Its really good. And you have to have rice with it lol. Lumpiang Shanghai is the filipino eggrolls. Dip it in Sweet Chili Sauce i can eat a hundred of these. I missed this! Happy Eating!

Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

Either way, it's a good place to try a twist on your favorites or dip into something new. I especially appreciated that there were a lot of vegetarian options which is hard to find in Filipino food, like our "veggie" lumpia usually has small bits of meat in it, lol. We were warmly welcomed, seated relatively quickly, and the service was attentive and timely. The place is cozy and on the dark side so my pics aren't the greatest. We had the Inihaw ng Talong which is basically grilled eggplant that came brushed with sunflower butter, loaded with tomatoes and garnished with cilantro. This was a nice start but a small one. The eggplant was smoky and creamy and complimented by the bright tomatoes. The Satti Manok, skewered grilled chicken, with cornbread sticky rice was good, but I've definitely had better for a lot less. This is usually a staple you'll find at any Filipino family's BBQ but the cornbread sticky rice was a surprisingly nice treat. If you've had this before, somewhere else, I'd skip it to try something else. The Sinigang Caesar was such a nice twist that totally made sense! My only complaint is that it was served with Bibb lettuce instead of a crunchy romaine. I enjoyed this so much I've been making my Caesar dressings with a sprinkling of Sinigang powder now and my family loves it. The Kare Kare gulay was nice and I enjoyed it. The charred cabbage gave it some extra depth that I think is needed to pull this off because this sauce is made with sunflower butter instead of peanut butter. This was great for me because I'm allergic to peanuts but it definitely changes the flavor, making it a little sweeter and lighter. I wish they would've made this with cashew or almond butter to keep it closer to the rich, deep flavors of a Kare Kare. The Maitake mushrooms -- I absolutely loved. I've never had this before and it reminded me of a good Laing which is also made with a spiced coconut sauce. I definitely could've eaten this all to myself with the garlic rice. Yes, the garlic rice is good but I was surprised to see it go for $6 a bowl. Rice is usually so cheap, if not complementary in Filipino restaurants and garlic rice is quite common, especially for breakfast (yes, I sabreakfast). It was cooked perfectly though. The mango float was delicious. Not sure why it's called a float but it was mango and mascarpone ice cream nestled in a mango sauce and topped with a delicate, crumbly butter cookie. I will definitely come back for more if I'm ever in the area again. I'd be excited to try other things on their menu.

March Madness is currently going on and was playing in the restaurant. We are basketball fans so this was a plus, and we were asked if the game that was currently on was our preferred game to watch, which was very thoughtful. The food was incredible. The eggrolls were incredibly flavorful and the chicken in the chicken adobo fell off the bone easily. The sauce on the chicken was delicious and it mixed so well with the garlic rice. We cannot wait to bring friends and family to this restaurant in the future. The hot food made us feel so whole on a cold and extremely windy day.
