I like their casual, road side style. Really relaxing for breakfast. Food and coffee are alright.

I've eaten here for over 20 years and today may have been the last time. Although the food was delicious, as always, the custoner service leaves something to be desired. Today is was eerily slow...I think it's because the place has gone rotten. A group of 10 were served their food about 10 minutes before us even though they came in 20 minutes after us. Nobody ever came back to check on us until they brought the check. And that's when bad turned to worse. It's bad enough that their menu has a large orange juice priced at $5 (it's fresh squeezed and delicious, but come on), but they decided to charge $6.50!!! $13 for two large orange juice. When I went inside and asked the waitress she said that is what her register says it costs (since when do they have a POS machine??). Told he it was different in the menu, and she told me to speak to the lady behind me who is "the owner". Super sucky attitude from her!! Her response was "yeah, the prices went up, we haven't changed tge menus yet, I can take a $1 your bill if you want." When I told her that I'd rather she charge what her menus states, and left my money on the counter, her response was "yeah, ok" Good food, but I don't need to ever go back. read more

I wanted to like this place. I'm a big fan of eating breakfast out on the weekends. My husband and I wanted to try Sarkis because friends of ours really liked their omelets. So we ventured out and grabbed a table in their back room. The set up of the restaurant is quirky and interesting. We sat down and waited patiently for one of the yoga pant wearing high school girls to acknowledge us and take our order. A long time passed. I wouldn't have minded if someone at least said,"Be right with you!" But nothing. Radio silence as they walked back and forth past us studiously avoiding our eyes. Finally as more tables filled up back there one girl appeared and asked to a table seated after us if they had ordered yet. I mentioned that we were there first which prompted her to apologize to them and take our order. When it finally came the ingredients were not what I had asked for but I didn't want to send it back because I just wanted breakfast to be over. The omelet was good, not great enough to redeem the poor service. The french bread that came with it was lukewarm and floppy. I'm not sure why this place seems to have such a following. Perhaps its the yoga pants. I'm not sure who trains the people who work there but they could do way way better. We will not be going back. read more

This used to be our go-to breakfast place - not anymore!!!! Waited 15 minutes to have our order taken, and then 45 minutes to get our food - only to have my son's come our first and wrong, and then 10 minutes later my food ( a veggie egg-white omelette) - not very complicated. The waitress came over at one point and asked if I wanted some toast "on the house" - the omelette comes with toast!!!! It was way better with the previous owner and a lot more economical. I've been coming to Sarkis for close to 4 years now, and it's honestly been one of those places that take care of those early morning or late night cravings. I've yet to have a disappointing visit. There's a decent amount of choices on the menu, I'm pretty loyal to a cheesy hash, bacon Loretta, and a iced tea. You really can't go wrong with whatever you get though. For five bucks you'll get a drink, side and meal and an overly stuffed stomach. The place itself often gets overly crowded and you might not be able to find a seat at times. Go on a nice day though and sit outside. Visit the place once, I promise you'll enjoy it and you'll be back the very next Sunday. -your welcome. read more

I have been going to Sarkis since i was a little girl. When I first went to college in california, I missed it so much. Luckily, I came back to go to Northwestern and now I go to Sarkis atleast 2 times a week. The service is great, the food is great, the atmosphere is great...... everything great. Sarkis cafe makes any day a great day. I order the same thing every time and they know my order.... Bacon loretta extra mayo no tomato. Everyone I introduce it to falls in love....It's hard not to become an addict to their tantalizing food!. Let the legend live on! read more

The two of us visited for late lunch. We had the Disaster, Loretta and Special hash browns which were all highly recommended on Yelp. The service was quick and I really liked the coffee. The food was pretty good but there was a problem. We felt we ordered the same thing thrice instead of three different things. All of them had the tomato/green pepper garnishing and cheese. No complaints about the cheese, hash browns or the green peppers. The sausage was quite flavorful. Price wise this place is a steal. The atmosphere was quite cosy. We probably will visit again if we are in the vicinity. read more

Cheesy Hash, Sausage Disaster, Coke....one of the best meals you'll ever have. It's not gourmet, but it's good flavor at a good price.

Sarkis Cafe is an all american cafe. it's amazing food and the staff are friendly as can be. No free refills which is cool it limits my pop intake which is good . I had the Loretta and it was awesome. blt with hashbrowns and an egg on top. So tasty and all for under 10 bucks including tip. I will def go back for the tasty treats that sarkis cafe is serving up. I've been coming to this place for years. I took a little health breather from this kind of food for two years. I came back to find that sarkis restaurant has raised their prices considerably, make the omelets much smaller and omitted much of the meat that made me a regular. Now they don't need to worry about me coming there often. I find it's no longer a bargain or a extraordinary place for breakfast. It's only a shell of its former self that can cost you a bundle for a meal. With tip, breakfast cost me $30.00 for two, and left us disappointed at the omelets we had. High priced greasy spoon, smaller portions and cold, dry, hard french bread that they call toast. read more

What a great throwback diner. I had not heard of this place until my best friend suggested we meet there for breakfast. We sat at the counter and watched the cook work the grill and prep the French bread for their famous Loretta sandwiches. I ordered the Dangerous Omelet. Which was bigger than my head and the Armenian sausage was fantastic. It came with a huge pile of crispy and light hash browns. The coffee was brewed with cinnamon, which was a pleasant surprise. I got there when the bread delivery truck got there with the day's supply of French bread - 5 huge bags of the 3 foot ones. While we worked our way through the huge breakfast we watched the cook prep the bread for the Loretta sandwiches. Before we were done he had cut the 10" rolls, sliced in half not quite through, and buttered each one. While that was going on at least 10 customers came in and picked up bags full of those delicious looking sandwiches for lunch. I have to back for one (or two or three) of those sandwiches. A friend of mine told me later that he still holds the record of 9 Lorettas, 2 orders of hash browns and a Diet Coke in a sitting. I'd have to see that to believe it! Favorite morning after breakfast place. It's a place where you can't question where and what it is made with, you just have to roll with it. And it's amazing. why oh why did I not find this place until I was out of college?!? I eat a Loretta once a week and get extra seasonings every time. I always want to try new items on the menu but the Loretta is so tasty I can't pass it up. I'm not sure what gets the draw here. And I was browsing this site only to find Sarki's a whooping 4 stars! This was almost irritating. Sure, it's a dive, and I won't even talk about the grime that exits, but this is the case in most dives. OK cool, then let's just talk about the food since you really can't talk about the lack of space you have wherever you sit in this place. I've been here several times, and have had just about every Loretta on the menu. I stayed away from ordering anything else since the omelettes look flat and basic. As for the Loretta, I've had it with 2 slices of bacon, which hardly make up for the amount of bread you get, therefore you can hardly tell that there is any other bacon on the sandwich at all. The ham and turkey are sliced thick from a deli section at Jewel instead of the real deal. Again, same problem as the bacon, can hardly taste it. The hash browns are boxed junk potatoes (yes, I know, most dives serve this). So in the end you get a sandwich, which the meat is undetectable, with a bunch of raw veg blend of peppers and onions which is the only thing you taste. But if you do without any of the components of the sandwich, then you are getting even less of a value. And I've seen the comments about the owner. And yes they are all true. I don't think he has a mute button or even cares who he might be offending. Most of it is mindless dribble anyways. It's clear he bought the restaurant from the previous owner and doesn't have much of an idea. In the end, this place is what it is and a staple in the North Shore. Therefore this will be what you get, so try to avoid. Good for at least a laugh read more

I cannot speak to the Loretta sandwich, which several customers ordered while I was there. Sarkis is a great hangout spot. The food is greasy but filling. Basically, everything is fried. You have to get the hash browns - make them a side with whatever you buy. I would recommend the Bacon Loretta. The restaurant is small but there is seating outside. The menu is also pretty small, so I don't think I could eat there regularly. Still, it is a good place to get a full platter of food for five bucks or less. read more

Well the last review says it all regarding the sanitation standards. My 16 year old had an omelet on Sunday and he has been sick all night and still sick and could not to go to school on Monday. I had gone there with him last year and was a little horrified with the lack of sanitation in the place, but I guess he is young and will recover although he says he has been CURED of the urge to go to Sarkis again. read more

We are always looking for a good diner. Based on the reviews, we thought we found one. However, there was nothing to love here. The tables were cramped and the place was filled with high school kids. That would have been ok had the food been fabulous. We found it to be mediocre and over priced. The real surprise was how sick we were the rest of the day. If you are hung-over to all hell, this is your place for greasy, cheesy, meaty, eggy everything goodness. In that state, this is place is great. Were I feeling normal, not sure I could handle it. Also, I am not sure if they are attempting to have the worst service possible as part of their "thing", but if not then they really need to do something about it. We sat for 15-20 minutes before I finally had to go scream my order at someone. Pretty much everyone I saw there was having a similar experience. read more
