This Sarku Japan is located within the food court at The Corner Mall in Downtown Boston. It is a fairly busy location but the people running the place move very fast so I've never had a problem being able to place my order and receive my meal rather quickly. The last time I was there I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki meal which is served with rice and vegetables. It was very delicious and I really enjoyed it. I also ordered a spring roll just for a little something extra to add to my meal and it was also very good. There is plenty of seating in the food court dining area to sit and enjoy your meal. The prices are not bad at all and you get plenty of food for what they charge for it. It is definitely my eatery of choice when I am at The Corner Mall. read more

Comparing this location to the one at the Galleria mall, this one lacks in comparison. I've come by twice...with a span of 5 months in between because the first time I came, during lunch hour, my rice had NO SAUCE whatsoever and the amount of sauce on the chicken could not get onto my white rice. I found the meal to be gross and very dry. I thought, maybe they just forgot to put the sauce on my rice like the other location does?????? So i came back a couple of days ago and he put no sauce, but this time I watched and then asked him for some "extra" sauce which is really just putting some sauce on my rice, and he also put some on the person behind me as maybe the guy thought we were together or maybe he was about to do the same thing and ask... for $7.16 I think I'll just head over somewhere else... the chicken was kind of dry and overcooked. My overall experience was good. The line moved at a decent pace. The staff was friendly and the food was prepared in a timely manner..however the food was kind of underwhelming. I was disappointed because I didn't remember it tasting like that before.. It was really dry (specifically the rice and veggies) the pack of soy sauce isn't enough. On the bright side the chicken was nice and tender and they give you a lot of it. Whatever they use to season it is great. The chicken dumplings are very good..I like that they fry them I enjoy dumplings with texture. I definitely recommend however just request extra soy sauce. read more

I got to my table, went to put my straw in my drink and realized there was a small roach floating on the top inside my drink! I went back to the lady that took my order, told her that there was a bug in my cup. I needed another drink. She proceed to turn around, dump it out and went to fill up the SAME cup with lemonade! When I crave for chicken teriyaki, this is the spot to go to for lunch. Not to the Japanese restaurant or chinese restaurants that surround your office. It's fairly priced at about 6-7 dollars and you can add extra meat for a dollar. I only eat the chicken based on 2 rules, 1. Never eat seafood at a food court and 2. Beef Teriyaki should only be eaten on a stick. The flavor and texture of their chicken would've given the place 4 stars by itself, but you got to get veggies with your rice plate and that unfortunately made it fall short. It's basically steamed scraps of cabbage, broccoli, and carrots cut into really thin and small pieces. If they improved the quality of their vegetables it would've secured 4 stars pretty easily. I visited this location (Corner Mall), today, on my lunch break and the guy that I guess was the head cook/ in charge wouldn't give me what I paid for. The guy at the register started talking to one of the cooks (in their language) when I asked him if what I was looking at was supposed to be extra shrimp. When they finished talking, the guy at the register said yes. I had already paid with my card and again, I was on my lunch break so I took the plate and left. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with noodles and vegetables. I know how they give more chicken than shrimp so that is why I ordered extra shrimp. Unless, they count their shrimp at the Corner Mall location in downtown Boston, MA, they didn't give me extra shrimp. I have ordered the same option from the Longwood Ave and Brockton location, with no problem, with getting the extra shrimp and it's obvious that they give you extra shrimp. At one point, I thought that the guy didn't charge me for extra shrimp but I knew that wasn't the case when I looked at the receipt. I gave this location one star because of the way that I was treated. It makes me wonder how many other people have they done this too, especially now that they have an app so you can order ahead. You won't know if they gave you what you paid for until you sit down to eat ,or if you look at your order in person. I don't see a lot of people going back to say something after the fact. Despite the negative rap this place gets, it's one of the cheapest meals in the Food Court, as well as the fact that they make the chicken on the spot, make this a great choice for quick and great tasting food in the area. They are QUICK! You're in and out of there in a minute. The food is delicious and it does not fail to make everyone in my office hungry. Get the chicken combo: it comes with white rice and vegetables for just a little over $6. You can't beat this deal. There are some negatives, but they don't outweigh the positives. For starters, I've been to many Sarku Japan's all over the place, and this is about what you would expect. Incredibly generous portions. You definitely get what you pay for and more. Rice and veggies are good and taste fresh. The meat is fresh, plentiful, but unfortunately extremely greasy. If they removed like 75% of the oil it would be perfect and even "healthy", but alas... There can be a long line at times but it moves really quickly; you will usually get your food within 5 min if not faster. I would give them 4 stars, but I had to knock off a star for their griminess when it comes to their stamp cards. I forgot my card a couple times and so I had 3 cards that I asked them to combine. They said they don't do that...I think...they said a bunch of words, but all I could make out was No. Also, the card comes with an expiration date, but they stamped an additional expiration date to be about a month or so. My 3 cards didn't have this additional expiration date so they threw it out saying it's not valid anymore. I wanted to protest and never come back...but $6 chicken terriyaki...so yeahhhh read more

This is one of the best values for lunch or dinner. Chicken Teriyaki with white rice and vegetables is around $6.39 after tax. Sarku japan is pretty common in a lot of food courts at malls or other busy retail locations. The food taste pretty consistently in just about all the locations. This one on the other hand, the teriyaki sauce is a bit stronger and has a less subtle taste. You have to ask for teriyaki sauce, they won't put it on your plate unless you specifically ask. Trust me, it'll make the meal taste much better. The portions is huge so if you have a big appetite like myself you won't feel hungry after you finish the meal. You can also get extra chicken for another dollar or two, but I don't recommend it as it is a lot of food. I use to use the loyalty card where every 5 meal I buy, I get one for free. On Monday after taking the rest of the food to go, my best friend and I wandered through the commons and gardens. In instances where nothing really jumps out at me, this little Japanese place at The Corner mall is one of my defaults. The only thing that I (and seemingly about 99% of the other patrons I see there) really get is the teriyaki chicken with white rice (I ask for extra sauce on it as well).
