    Crepe complete

I only have visited once, but I enjoyed my buckwheat crepe. Just offering it was such a treat as I don't see too many crepes these days. I went with the complete, the ham with an over easy egg, and I think it had some emmental cheese. And while not the best crepe I've ever had, it was still pretty tasty with a lovely presented and tangy side salad. Not cheap at the $18 price point, but again, a tres French lunch. I've heard they use organic ingredients, which if true, that price seems more in line. The bakery looked incredibly delicious. While I didn't taste the fresh baked breads and pastries, I'd imagine from the looks, they are decadent and delicious. The place was bumping on a Weds morning, you can tell this place is a hot spot to enjoy a leisurely coffee, pastry and a newspaper. The space is bright and inviting and I loved that they had a piano in the corner. Plenty of parking, to boot. Overall, a lovely stop in Petaluma, away from the hubbub of downtown.

Stopped by Sarmentine recently and tried a matcha latte with honey and a flan. The matcha latte was smooth and well made, though it was a little milkier than I personally prefer. If you like a milder matcha flavor, you'll probably enjoy it. The flan was my favorite part of the visit. It had a great texture and wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated. A lot of flans can be a sugar bomb, but this one felt much more balanced. The cafe itself was clean, comfortable, and a nice place to sit for a coffee, pastry, or meeting. I'd definitely order the flan again and would be interested in trying more of their pastries on a future visit.

Will start by saying that the bakery items and snack selections here are exceptionally good. While the service is efficient, It's still confusing where to stand if you want coffee, if you don't want coffee, and where to stand while you wait. Yes, there are two red ropes indicating where to stand if there's a big line but it's some distance away from the counter and if you want to check out the selection before you get there, you really can't. I got a plain croissant with butter and it cost nearly 7 dollars. For a single croissant. And it wasn't even very large. Read: ridiculously overpriced. Not only that, the server never cracked a smile and honestly appeared that she wanted to be working somewhere else. Bottom line: if you've got plenty of money to throw in at a few yummy bakery items, go for it. The bread loaves here are probably the most reasonably priced.

Today we shared a smoked salmon crepe. It came with a colorful side salad. It was enough for the two of us.

I've been meaning to try Sarmentine for quite awhile now and I finally did this morning with a friend. If you go early there are lots of different pastries to choose from. They have sweet and savory pastries, a large assortment of breads, cakes to order and even a day old bread section. I love pumpkin drinks and pastries so I ordered a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk and a pumpkin croissant. The latte was made perfectly and the temperature just right. The pumpkin croissant had a flaky crust on the outside and a decadent pumpkin pie filling in the middle. The hard working staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. I also got an almond fruit tartelette, a Trianon (chocolate cake), and a day old sourdough loaf to share with my family. It is located inside a small shopping center with parking in front. We're going to be returning customers!

Oh Sarmentine, how do you do it? You think you've just had the best croissant you've ever had in your life (including those in Paris) and then they up the ante with the crepe! Simply glorious. Everything here is as you would dream it to be.

Omg, heaven. I was an early kickstart supporter and moved away before they opened. What a joy to come back and finally eat some of the incredible pastries. Absolute perfection!

When I think about the place that I want to go to for a relaxing hot beverage, some delicious food with a low key ambiance or a place to get together with friend, Sarmentine is absolutely at the top of my list. You really can't beat the quality of the ingredients here- I have yet to have something from the pastry case, the breads, the warm foods or drinks that I didn't enjoy. Every visit I have had here has been delightful, and I always marvel at the consistent quality of the foods. On my birthday for example this past month, my husband took me here for a breakfast celebration, and then my dad took us there again the same day for lunch. Does that sound like a problem? Not at all! I was delighted. During the Christmas time, they even had a pianist playing live music during the dining time with all their trees and lights and decor- it was truly magical. Usually when I visit, I go straight for whatever they have in their tart offerings. My current favorite is the pistachio tart, but their passionfruit tart is equally incredible. Their set lunch with their soup, sandwich, latte and pastry is such a delicious good deal, you will love it. Prices are absolutely on point for the consistency and quality, as well as the gorgeous presentation. Yes, you're going to be paying more than if you were at, say, Starbucks... but the high quality of these ingredients are worth it every time. I just can't recommend it highly enough. Sarmentine is definitely one of the best gems of South county, hands down...maybe even in the whole county!

I forgot to take pictures of the dessert, but they're delicious . Not disappointed at all. The place is in a nice location, if you are in town you gotta try it.

Excellent bakery and they had a good iced chai. The pastries were delicious! There was a bit of a wait, but you can't fault a business for being popular. The chocolate almond croissant was exquisite.

We love coming to Sarmentine! Whether taking home a delicious epi baguette or enjoying a decadent treat such as canales, a slice of lemon berry cake or a savory croissant square - yum! And a cup of the best chai latte, beautifully crafted by Thais! Greeted by smiles from friendly staff like Corinne or Valentina- always warmly welcomed!

I'm so glad that they decided to open their second pastry shop in Petaluma! Located right across from Brigette Bistro, I feel like this section of the city, is becoming like French Quarters. I love their Millefeuille! It's so flaky and the rich custard is so heavenly. Adore their eclairs. Croissant is on point. I wish it was a bit fluffier inside. Paris brest is solid. I prefer it to be softer on the dough. Pavlova was pretty, but not what I was expecting. It wasn't doughy nor would I consider it a pastry. It was like a sweet crunchy foam crust bottom and citrus fruits on top of it. They have fresh bread and savory items, such as quiches and sandwiches. Service was friendly and adequate seating. There was a line, but at least it was moving. Can't get enough of their lovely pastries! Will return to try others.

Fun little Mother's Day flyer - who wouldn't want a bouquet with croissants!

Really nice bakery, friendly staff, some of the most beautiful pastries and bread I have ever had. Pro Tip - the French Breakfast you can ask for Ice Coffee instead of hot - together with a Baguette, and OJ I was in heaven! Can't wait to come back! Oh and if you arrive early you can score a 1/2 price loaf by the cash register - I had it for the next few days and it still tasted amazing !!!

They have a combination of standard flavors (think espresso, pistachio, chocolate) and unique sweet and savory options. It's a small storefront with two tables inside and some outdoor seating. The service was friendly and quick as well. We got 3 macarons to try for $10 - a lavender, watermelon tajin, and apple gorgonzola. Surprisingly the lavender was my least favorite despite us choosing it as a "safe" option - the filling was almost soapy in taste and felt slightly gritty/oily. The watermelon tajin had the flavor of a jolly rancher and also bubblegum and was very unique and interesting to try. The apple gorgonzola was likely my favorite, with the macarons have a sour apple taste and the filling being more creamy with buts of funk and umami from the gorgonzola cutting through. Overall, lots of unique fun flavors at Madeline's and I'm glad I gave it a try! I'm definitely impressed by how they were able to capture this wide variety of flavors in macaron form, and the macaron cookies themseslves are wonderful in texture.

So exciting to see all of their gorgeous creations in our little town of Sebastopol. We had reservations for 1:00 and they sat us at one of their small tables by the door. It worked but it wasn't the most comfortable seat in the house as people were walking in and out of the door and the pastry case was right next to us. There was a group of four near the far end and they offered to move us but then we would have been sitting right next to them. They also have another small private room but that was going to be used for a wedding cake meeting. Gergana is the owner and she greeted us warmly. She said she took over the patisserie in 2019. The other employees were very sweet and helpful. They provided us with a tea menu so we could select a tea from their varied tea menu. They returned with little pots of tea for each of us. There were many people dropping by to pick up a pastry and drink and others stopped by to pick up their cake order. The employees were efficient and quick to help everyone. They refilled our tea pots with hot water and checked on us throughout our time there. The desserts on the top level were our favorites. It came with a candle which was very sweet. Overall, it was a fun experience to savor all of their small samplings and Gergana is there to ensure everything runs smoothly so that your time there is relaxing and extra special. The inside had those flaky, buttery layers you'd expect from a croissant, but the outside was covered in caramelized sugar that baked into this golden, crunchy shell. It had a nice crack when I bit into it, then turned soft and buttery inside. The caramelized sugar gave it this toasted, almost caramel flavor without making it overly sweet. Simple, but really good with that buttery richness. Definitely a good way to start the morning.
