I have picked up food at this Sarpino's on numerous occasions over the last few years, and it has never disappointed me yet. I used to be addicted to their non-spicy BBQ wings, but Alas, they can no longer provide those due to a supplier issue. But their pizza, sandwiches, salads, and everything else are top-notch. Their staff is also very friendly and helpful. This location is a tiny storefront in the Appletree shopping area right off 40 Highway in northeast Independence. I live too far away to get their Free Delivery With No Minimum Purchase, so I always get my order curbside and they bring it out to me. But they are truly THE BEST. And yesterday I tried their recently-added BBQ Pork Belly Pizza and O. M. G. It was the best pizza I have ever tasted - hands down! And guess what? I'm going back tonight to get a really large one! (Yesterday I just bought a tiny 8" one to try it.) They also have a location in Westport, and others throughout the KC area. And no, they're not paying me to write this, and I don't have any friends or relatives who work there. They're just really that good. They are a tad bit pricey, though. But it's worth it. And they run specials all the time. Plus you earn points with every dollar you spend which can reduce the price of future orders. Do yourself a favor and check them out! Sarpino's is a pretty good addition to the area in Independence. It sits kind of far back so I wish it luck. I went to the window (They are a pick up pizza shop). I ordered and they were very polite. I waited for it and didn't hear any loud words did hear the usual pizza place clatter. In a little while My pizza was done. I also ordered wings. Both were good. For 9.99 you can get a 1 topping large. The crust was good. I only had a piece cause of gluten but it was very good. My family seemed to enjoy it and also liked the wings. So It's thundering and pouring down rain for most of the day. I finish my podcast and my workout and my stomach is howling. I remember I have a credit at Sarpino's so I order the 8" Midnight express online for in-store pickup. I like to customize my pie, NO Crushed Red Pepper NO Jalapeno Peppers, NO Marinara, Garlic, Smoked Bacon, Cilantro, HALF Italian Sausage & HALF Salami. Just in case your wondering. I drive to the restaurant after picking up some sweets at the local grocery store, My order is still hot, ready and correct. I leave out in the rain on my merry way. I get home, turn on a good show and chow down. The crust is fluffy yet crisp with just the right amount of sauce. I love the cilantro and hint of minced garlic. My husband and I had been excited to try it ever since we received a menu in the mail. In theory it seemed like a perfect place for us with what appeared to be an extensive menu. We liked that they delivered (for free) and that there was no minimum order to do so. However... all of that went out the window after visiting the establishment. It wasn't the 20 minute wait. Good food takes time. It was our experience while we waited. The language from the employees was so vulgar. We were shocked! The F-word seemed to be a part of every other sentence. Do they think that 1/2 wall between the kitchen and lobby is magical and soundproof?? Completely off putting and uncomfortable to say the least. Even more shocking was the lady (loose term) who appeared to be in charge (see photos). How can you allow your employees to behave that way. My family and I will not be returning and will give our honest opinions when asked. Very disappointing. If you don't mine the language or choose delivery, I can tell you the food was decent. Waited an hour for delivery, called to see why it was late and the app showed delivered.. I call the store and the manager said he ended up in lees summit, give me just one second. I waited for 15 minutes, called on another phone and a guy had came in bc they were busy, which yay, but wasn't the nicest. I cancelled my order, then the driver showed up and was like well you gave an address that takes you to lees summit.. no I gave my address like it shows on the app. I was charged for pizza that is definitely cold after an hour and a half and I would gladly take a fresh order, but I'm not gonna pay for cold food and rude service. I have not eaten here since 2020, when the vegan menu was launched and Sarpino's got on my radar! My family was in from out of town & I wanted to order specialty pizza for them. After 1 hour of trying to utilize the rewards program & deciding what to order, I just called the store for their help as in the past. Unfortunately, this time they were unable to honor my rewards because they weren't sure how. After a lot of confusion, they found a way to achieve close to what I wanted by ordering a larger pizza (instead of 2 smaller ones) and doing 1/2 Vegan Florentina & 1/2 Vegan Italiano. There was no way to order it that way in the system, but the man on the phone made it himself for us. It was delicious! And, my sister who does not prefer vegan food loved it too. I was impressed by the expansion of vegan options, since I ordered last. I would probably give it five stars, but the inability to use the loyalty program and delaying my ordering online & over the phone, prevents a five star rating. However, I hope they expand to Blue Springs, so I can get delivery and enjoy this more often. They have so many specialty pizza options for everyone (even gluten-free)! Placed an order for a pizza and wings online at 5pm on a Saturday. Estimated delivery between 5:50pm and 6pm. 6:20pm..still not here. I call to check on the order...I get a none too assuring answer that it's on it's way and to give it 10 minutes. I gave it 20 minutes. 6:40pm I call back..talk to Alex and tell him I'm cancelling the order. I get "Sorry about that, OK..bye". Dont really feel that my business matters. 6:55pm..driver shows up at my door. They did not call her off. I feel the boxes...cold. I tell the driver that I will not accept the order. I don't think this place is being fairly rated, the pizza is good, I mean it's not great. The people are pleasant, I've ordered four or five pies from this place and they're good. I think as far is Kansas City Pizza goes this is a pretty good joint, carry out & delivery only. Good pizza and calzones, I wouldn't order pasta here - it's a pizza place not an Italian restaurant. Let's face it we're in Kansas City, this isn't New York City, or the Jersey shore, or Chicago - all known for great pizza, we like barbecue, Royals, & Chiefs in KC. It's a 50/50 chance of getting a good pizza or service. We ordered a couple weeks ago and got a great deep dish pizza and service. We're outside the delivery area so we have to drive 20 mins each way for sarpinos. So we decided let's have it again. We've made a account so we just hit the button to order the same thing we had last time. Oh boy it wasn't close. It was the worst pizza I've ever had. So we call and tell them it's no good and he tells us we must have ordered something different than last time and it can't be bad. He made it and he's being rude and condescending about the whole thing. So we say we want a refund. I've taken two bites, my wife one and my son didn't even after he saw it. We put it all back in the box and took it back. After all this I'm not eating anything that comes out of this kitchen or made by this guy. The delivery dudes are so kind, the first delivery we had, they had forgot the cheesecake and he went our of his way to bring it to us asap, and threw in an extra cake, bless his sweet soul. This was not the greatest experience I've had with a pizzeria. We ordered. Waited. Our driver called asking which apartment was ours. We replied with the next building over and he replied with 'Is it on the bottom floor?' With which we replied,' Sorry, it is on the top.' He replied with a deep sigh. We opened our boxes, hoping for piping hot food, but to no avail, the food was lukewarm. We expected a little more heat for the pizzeria being a brisk 7 minutes walk from our home. After a few bites, we realized we didn't have our drink. Which is no biggie. I called, asked if they could run our drink over, with which the person on the phone kindly said it would be right over. After 30 minutes of patiently waiting, our drink arrived. Our food now cold. The driver rather shoved the drink in my arms and walked away. And, upon opening the drink, the drink sprays us all over. This was my first time ordering and eating Sarpino's pizza. I ordered a 12 inch, thin crust half pepperoni half Italian sausage pizza. I had the pizza delivered and it was delivered within the timeframe, it was hot, fresh and the delivery man was very nice and respectful. The pizza on the other hand was the greasiest pizza I have ever seen or eaten. The bottom of all eight slices was completely wet with grease, you could see pools of grease in the pepperoni and Italian sausage slices and the only thing that was dry on the pizza was the edge of the crust. The pizza was so flimsy and when held up you could watch the grease just drip off of the pizza. I'm giving this three stars based on the fact that the pizza did taste good and it was delivered within the timeframe with a delivery driver who was very friendly and nice. Next time I will try the original crust on the pizza but if that is as greasy as the thin crust, I'm more than likely not eating Sarpinos again. read more
