The vegetables in the Manchurian weren't crispy either. They were so-so. The paneer tikka was pretty decent. The daal makhni was good. The garlic naan was good as well and they also gave white rice along with the other curries. We sat outside so it was nice and pleasant. The service was good as well. The boy was polite. read more

Refuses to provide customers tap water! The lack of hospitality at this restaurant inspired a new policy from me. Refusal to provide tap water is an automatic two star deduction. I have never encounter such a customer unfriendly policy before! For water, there only option is $2 for a Kirkland bottle of water. Costco sells these in their vending machine for $0.25 so this an 800% markup. By the case, it's likely a bit cheaper at Costco so this establishment is charging a 1000% markup! For water! Other that terrible water policy, food was good. The momos were particularly good. We ordered two vegan Thali s from here and were very surprised to find nothing but Chana masala as the Sabzi. No dal nothing else other than pakoras. To me this is deception. No self respecting Indian restaurant would do that. . Thali by definition means an assortment of vegetables and dal plus rice and chapati. I rarely leave reviews on Yelp, but I think the stars this restaurant has are VERY misleading and I would never come here again or recommend to friends after my experience. I love Indian food and have it all the time so I know what it's suppose to taste like. The chicken tikka masala here was sweet. I've NEVER had an Indian curry that was sweet. When I asked the lady at the cashier what they put in it, she asked the cook and told me they add honey! I asked why they add honey since chicken tikka does not have honey, then she changed her statement saying there's no honey, just tomato and cashews. I knew this wasn't correct because that wouldn't make it sweet. I asked my mom and sister to try it to make sure I wasn't being unreasonable and they said it was sweet too. So I asked the lady if I could exchange that curry for another one and she said oh ok I can order you another one but you need to pay. What?! I'm not going to pay extra for food when it's not made correctly. So she asked the cook if they could make another complimentary curry for me but he had a bad attitude and told her to say no. Even the chicken was dry and the chai tea had too much black tea because it made me very anxious/too much caffeine. My moms chefs special chicken with coconut wasn't bad. Only giving 1 star for my moms good dish and because the lady did try to fix the problem but the chef refused to provide good customer service. Came here for a quick lunch, it was empty when I came but filled up after I got my food served. Had to wait a bit for the food to get served. Most people preferred to eat outside because of the beautiful weather, but I ate indoors. You order at the counter, get seated and the food is served at your table, and you pay later at the counter. I got the #3 (Mattar Paneer Thali) in mild medium. Quantity is a lot for 1 person. Food was extremely delicious. Wished there was a bit more salt or spice in the Mattar Paneer though. The taste of the Roti was different than regular roti, probably a different type of flour they use here. Water cups were too small. I was there for my birthday lunch. I am giving 5 star to this restaurant because of the customer service , vibe and the food. The customer service is so good. The lady ( wish I knew her name) is very sweet, friendly , always smiling. The vibe is very relaxing we sat out side in the patio. It is beautiful. If you need to destress just come to this restaurant, seat next to the Bogenvelia plant with a cup of Chai and food and you will feel good. This is the best Indian/ Nepalese restaurant in Sausalito. Food is fresh bursting with flavors. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. The whole milk masala chai was very refreshing, it goes very well with brown sugar. Great quality food but really slow service. When we got in, there were probably 3 other tables of people and 2 parties in line to order and it took probably 40 minutes for us to get our food. I got so hungry I started eating a granola bar lol I got the J special lamb korma thali and it was amazing, I loved the creaminess of the sauce and the nuts dispersed. Food was excellent, though be prepared for Sausalito prices. We had the lamb korma and Lamb Chef's Special curry. Dishes were $16, plus $5 each for having it Thali Style (adds 2 pieces of naan bread, veggies, soup, dessert). Quite a bit higher priced than other Indian places, but considering its Sausalito it makes sense. Also, judging from pictures of the menu from even 1 year ago, it seems like prices have gone up significantly, which seems to be happening with everything nowadays. The food was really good. The lamb was tender, sauce was great, definitely recommend Thali style. The naan bread is really flat and not doughy. I think the Lamb Chef's Special curry was the standout- it tasted similar to tikka masala, but with coconut. The Korma was good too, though we ordered both dishes Medium Spicy and the Korma was really spicy. I enjoy spicy food so it wasn't an issue for me, but I could see how it would be too hot for many people. The spice level of the special curry was perfect though. Service was friendly and quick. As someone who grew up here, Sartaj has been my favorite and back pocket favorite restaurant for over ten years. They have never disappointed me or failed to treat me like family. After 2015, I missed them sorely, but now they are back! I ate here tonight and loved the new staff. Very friendly woman at the counter with a kitchen full of sweet smiles and well trained hands. This Indian restaurant was recommended by a patient. We were already at the Sausalito/Marin area so we decided to come here for lunch. It's a very small restaurant. We arrived at the right time because we were able to get seated immediately. They have a great menu selections from non vegetarian to vegetarian and also have breakfast menu. You order first, and they'll cook your order so it's absolutely fresh. I ordered the Chicken Tikka masala thali $12.95- came with rice, mixed veggie stew and one chapathi (bread) - I ordered it spicy . It was so flavorful and the sauce was very creamy - just the way I like it. I can definitely taste all the Indian spices. My husband ordered Lamb Korma Thali - $13.95 - I tried his meal and it was equally delicious. Although I prefer the flavor of chicken vs lamb. He really enjoyed it and said that the sauce was more lighter than my masala. Don't forget to get a hot cup of chai tea with almond milk!! It's absolutely amazing!!! My boyfriend and I have been traveling around SF / Marin County and happened to stumble across this place after a long day of hiking. BEST DECISION EVER. We got the garlic naan and onion kulcha naan and a chicken tikka burrito. The photos here show our second time back in two days. The flavors are sooooo good, each bite leaves your mouth watering for more. Hands down the best Indian food I've had in my entire life!
