We come here during almost every visit to the Napa/Calistoga area, and every time the food has been really good. - Veggie momos are really yummy. - Matar Paneer is delicious. - Vegetable Tandoori is a must for me because the yogurt marinade is the best I've encountered. Lots of cauliflower and broccoli. - Great naan. The best recommendation I can give you, though, is to order their grape juice. By that, I actually mean juice as in non-alcoholic, not wine, which is technically also grape juice ;) They have this Navarro Pinot Grape Juice that we ordered to try out once, and now we are obsessed. Service can be a tad slow, whether it's busy or not, but the food is always very fresh and worth it. They say on the menu which items can take a little longer as well (momos are like 20 minutes, for instance). They are always friendly and welcoming. read more

We had a delicious dinner at this Nepalese/Indian restaurant. After a very long and fun day exploring Napa Valley, we were hungry. We came to Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen for dinner on a Saturday night. It was packed. Things were a bit slow, but not in a bad way, it seemed like there were only two people at front of house for a full restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly though. We shared the veggie momos (Nepali dumplings), tikka masala, and garlic basil naan. The flavors and spices were very delicious. My fiancé adored every last bite. Lunch at Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen was great again. We got the free range chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala and the matar paneer (curried peas and cheese cubes). They come with basmati or brown rice and one comes with buttered naan (our favorite). There was a lot of chicken in both entrees, enough to have leftovers for tomorrow! We got a mix of medium and mild - which were perfectly seasoned. Service was great and sitting outside to people watch is fun. This is a hidden gem for sure. Stop in to enjoy their cuisine. I've wanted to go to this place for years when I was in college because I heard it was really popular, but I never got around to it so here I am. I came in and ordered the chicken tikka masala (spicy) w/basmati rice, garlic cilantro naan, garlic basil naan, and buttery naan. I also ordered a glass of riesling. The tikka masala was soo good. It was spicy and flavorful, but not too spicy to the point of being overwhelming. The rice that came with it also was pretty solid. All of the naan were yummy as well. When paired with the tikka masala, it's a match made in heaven. The service here was good also. Our waitress was kind, timely, and gave great menu recommendations. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The parking situation in this area can be a challenge depending on what time you go. I came by tonight with a group of 3 people at 5:45 pm. The restaurant was empty other than two other tables. We just stood at the door for a few minutes until anyone came out. After ordering, the food took awhile to come out. But once it did, everything was good. The least favorite was chicken Momo. A little dry . The eggplant/salmon curry tasted great. The spice had a kick but nothing where you felt you can't eat it. All of the naans were fluffy on the edges and crisp in the middle like a cracker. At around 7 pm, the restaurant was packed. Went here a second time and ordered lentil soup, tofu and spicy mixed veggie curry with brown rice, and garlic cilantro naan. Enjoyed the lentil soup and garlic cilantro naan most, but those were the sides and appetizers. The main entree of spicy mixed veggie and tofu curry with brown rice was not as impressive. There was no tofu in it and the flavor tasted like Louisiana hot sauce was thrown in. The brown rice also had a weird flavor. The service was quick. The place was clean. Living in Napa, which already has great Indian cuisine, I still always prefer to make the drive up to Saint Helena for the amazing food at Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen. Indian is my favorite cuisine, and this place truly delivers. Their lunch plates are fantastic, though they're only available on weekdays for lunch. Just for my mom and me, we ordered the tikka masala with medium spice, a side of basmati rice, buttered naan, and a side of broccoli--which is a must have because it pairs perfectly with the masala sauce. We were in Saint Helena and a chef from a nearby winery recommended this spot. It was 10 out of 10 delicious!! The chicken momo was spiced perfectly & has cilantro inside. We were disappointed when we realized on a weekend everything was a la carte. Great beer and wine pricing too which is hard to find in wine country. Staff is super nice and ambiance is great. Wow what delicious food. I can't wait to come back. My friends and I were famished after wine tasting and this place was nearby and vegan friendly so we gave it a try. They do have a couple hours between lunch and dinner service where they close FYI, but we made it with an hour to spare. We ordered a couple apps as well as entrees and everything was bomb. The pakoras, samosas, veggie momo, and my tofu tikka masala were all perfect and flavorful. Trying pakoras and momo was a first for me and I absolutely would do it again. I also tried garlic butter naan and the basil naan (naan isn't vegan but I'm a flexitarian lol) and wowwwwwww had to take some as leftovers for another day. Yummy. I want to come back and try more from this menu. They do have a handful of vegan options, as well as a beer and wine menu. Service was friendly and the environment was relaxing and quiet. This Nepali place is my go to for lunch when I am wine tasting in the heart of Napa valley. They have a reasonably priced lunch special that includes entree, rice, dal and side of sautéed vegetables. I tried vegetarian one that was like navratan korma, mixed vegetables with paneer in a creamy sauce, hubby tried the chicken version, both tasted very fresh and delicious. The garlic sautéed broccoli was so much better than expected and yellow dal/lentil was so comforting with basmati rice. We were really craving some delicious Indian food our last night in Napa.... We did a little searching on Yelp and found this place to be very close by... We were so happy that we made the drive in the pouring rain... I feel terrible that I did not take any photos of the delicious food we ate which was the lamb and chicken Momos( dumplings) so flavorful and delicious. Of course my favorite which is the Teaka chicken masala, as well as the vegetable curry medium spice... we decided to have the garlic basil naan, so Light and fluffy... We had just visited B cellars winery so we decided that we would bring our own bottle of wine to enjoy with the delicious food that we had. The owner was our waiter, and very graciously chose to not charge us a corkage fee. We were pretty excited to see an Indo-Tibetan restaurant in St. Helena. Perhaps we got there a little late for lunch but the tandoori chicken was not at all like the pictures, which looked pretty red. There was more onion with chopped up meat and not whole prices that we are used to in other Indian restaurants. We were told the lamb dish comes with glass noodles. However was so disappointed to see thin slightly overcooked spaghetti instead. Glass noodles are traditionally made from mung beans and also called cellophane noodles which become transparent when cooked. It has a distinct delicate flavor which should enhance the dish. This dish was far from what I expected. Apart from that, our servers were very kind and friendly. The naans and other curries were delicious. The place and decor was nice. This place is delicious. First time I came I got the saag paneer (named something different, but same idea). It was too spicy for me to manage. However, we came back again and tried more. Here is what I recommend: - somosas, great texture - momos- all kinds, surprisingly, the lamb was my favorite over the chicken! - chicken and yogurt dish- super tender chicken. - lamb and yogurt- very good and not gamy. We were lucky to find this local gem on a quick trip to St. Helena. Friday night with no reservations and the need for outdoor dining was a challenge. We also wanted to eat vegetarian. Happened to see this restaurant along the Main Street, stopped to look at menu, and ordered a few dishes. We have been to Nepal and this neighborhood place brought back those memories. Service was very attentive and fast. Food was super fresh and delicious. The Tandoori Salmon was enough for two people and yummy. Large, fresh pieces of fish baked in a tandoori oven, sizzling hot. The naan it came with was also yummy. The veggie momos were super tasty and flavorful. Samosas were comforting and hearty with fresh mint sauce. Dad loved the prawns. Definitely get the mango lassi too! We noticed a lot of orders for takeout so the locals are in the know. Outdoor seating was nice. We will definitely be back!
