I have been with my hair stylist for several years and have followed him from a another location before coming here to Saruni. Usually his color abilities are on point and hair cut is always fabulous. However, my most recent visit was for a peek a boo purple underneath with cut and blow dry. The cut and blow dry went wonderful but the hair coloring was lacking and spotty with a wash out look on certain spots. So, I called the salon and came back several days later for a touch up, wash and blow dry. He was able to do the color touch up in which i was not 100% in love but willing to work with it for a few weeks and come back later for another do over. He dried only the color touch up area and called it a day leaving me with dripping wet hair. Yes, I asked to speak to a member of management who was busy with a facial so I waited. The desk receptionist was able to provide me with another member of management phone number for me to call and I did. I briefly explained the situation that of all I was not pleased with leaving a hair salon with very wet hair. Yes, I spoke with my original stylist and voice my concerns n how difficult it was going to be to find another salon just to do a blow dry at a very last minute notice. Truly, I even told my stylist it was best not to speak in front of clients as I do not find that professional. As it turned out management was able to get me in to have a blow dry with another stylist. Yay. Still l, how embarrassing is it to raise a concern and feel as I was the issue. I know miscommunications happened but I was very upfront in rebooking my hair color fix appt with my stylist as I always have a blow dry at the end. No wonder he was trying to do two persons at once and that's never good. Yes, I would suggest to go again for a cut and blow dry but not for any color work. At the end I personally told my stylist who I feel it's best to stay nameless for professionalism that "I appreciate him but was disappointed." "Now off to find a new salon. I get my hair and color done with Janice who does a great job from color to the best blow out around! Luby does our eyebrows and I love that she keeps them looking clean and perfectly shaped, yet natural looking (especially for my teen daughter). Janice is experienced and spent a lot of time making sure the cut I asked for was perfect. Bonus: in addition to her talent she is also fun to talk to and very professional. The receptionist was inviting and offered refreshments. The salon is very clean and has a great atmosphere. The owner also stopped to stay hello and thank me for coming in. In addition to hair they also do nails, facials, and make-up. This spa used to be called Roho salon. But, they closed it down, remodeled it and definitely spiced it up. This place is a beautiful salon with many service: threading, facials, nail and hair care. I come to do my nails with Linda and she always does a fantastic job. I have been coming to her for years and she is always very quick and thorough. You have to call ahead of time to make an appointment with her. The owners Luby and her husband are always very welcoming. Wish I could give more stars! I have been a client of Luby's for over 10yrs and today I came by to get my hair color fixed at her salon by Barbara. I had seen plenty of before and after pictures where Barbara had done an amazing job and I knew she would be able to correct my color. As soon as I sat in her chair she made me feel comfortable as I described to her what I was looking to fix with my hair color. Right away she began to explain how my hair ended up turning green-ish blonde and ashy which was not what I was looking for and how she would be able to fix it. What a relief to find somebody who is knowledgeable and willing to make me feel at ease about my hair. She explained each step as she was coloring and fixing my hair and keeping time on each process. I am SUPER excited and happy how my hair turned out! My daughters wanted their hair cut and I was looking to cut my hair also. Found this amazing place on yelp and called in the morning. The gentleman who answered (one of the owners) was so pleasant and helpful. I asked for pricing and availability and was given an appointment for later that day for both of my girls. I asked if they could call me if they had any cancellations for earlier and they did. When we arrived, everyone was so welcoming. My daughters and I started looking at the book of haircuts while we waited. We watched as a gentleman was attending another client and loved how he took a lot of pride in his profession. Once the gentleman was done, he quickly cleaned up his work area and came to my girls and I, and introduced himself as David. All I can say is WOW! David is such an amazing person. He was so attentive to my daughters, asking them how they wanted their hair cut along the way and at the end of it all, my girls were in love with their hair. They thought he was so nice and sweet and ask to only see him when they need their hair cut. Although I wanted to cut my hair also, I only scheduled for my girls but once David was done he told me to come on over to get started. I explained to David what I had in mind and he helped me achieve what I was looking for in a short...really short...haircut. I've already told my mom that she has to schedule an appointment with David. David is a great asset to Saruni Salon and the owners are both very involved with the clients which really means a lot. Before leaving, the salon was getting packed with people waiting to have their eyebrows threaded with Luby (the other owner). A Receptionist is always a first point of call and the Receptionist at SARUNI does not disappoint. Very nice manner and always has a smile. David and Barbara who I have used for cutting, colouring and blow drying are very skilled with what they do. I have been hunting around for a good hairdresser especially for colour and I read past reviews on yelp and went ahead with an appointment. My hair came out Great but my daughter is not too happy with hers. She has dark brown hair and wanted the hombre look with blond. I know you get some damage with lightening, that's why I decided to take her to the salon and not do it at home. She got a trim on Friday and color Monday. She washed her hair yesterday (Tuesday) because the ends look so fried it's bad. (We need to moisturize as much as possible) I expected a little more when paying almost $400 for the color and highlights.... oh,*tip* if you get color done expect to pay extra for blow dry it is not included in any service. read more

Came in for a very last minute walk in on a Saturday and was very pleased with everything. The lady in the front desk is very friendly and welcoming. Asked for a wash and blow dry with big loose waves, and David killed it. It's been 4 days and my hair still looks good. The wash was great, and the blow dry didn't take that long. I have an unfortunate update to my previous glowing review. I went to Barbara again about a month ago to cover some greys and add some more highlights. I arrived for my 10:00 appt and did not leave the salon until 4:30, indication enough that things went very wrong. Due to some previous color in my hair things did not exactly go as planned and I ended up with "hot" orange roots on my natural hair. After a few trips to the bowl and attempts to cover the orange with toner, it looked better and she blew dry my hair. The feeling I had bring there for as long as I had been and seeing these orange roots was devastating and I just wanted to get home. What happened next was egregious. I went to pay and the total came out to $468 without tip. I almost vomited. I have a hard time standing up for myself but said to the owner that just can't be. I thought he seemed to concur, and he went to Barbara and they knocked off a bit. I couldn't believe it but paid and left, and cried all the way home. My friend insisted I call back and so I did, and they agreed to knock off a total of $75 so the new grand total was $393 (more than I have ever paid for color in my entire life). I felt so low, but with my hair blown out and not having time to really look at it I though ok.. lesson learned. Then things got worse. When my husband saw my hair he kindly told me it looked fried. Then everyone started noticing the orange roots (including me) and wondered if I had did the color myself with a box!!! I've spent the last three weeks trying to condition my hair as much as possible but it's not improving at all, and as it continues to grow he orange is becoming more visible and unsightly. I feel so ugly and taken advantage of not to mention I have a bill of $393. Everyone who has seen it has insisted I call back because it is completely unacceptable to make someone pay that amount to look so terrible. A recent evening looking in the mirror in tears plus comments from others gave me the confidence to reach out to the salon to see if they could reimburse me for this disaster out of good faith. With a lot of back and forth the owner told me that they would fix it for free. I have zero confidence in the salon and that is not an option for me. Reimburse me the money please I ask. Then he says he is going to talk to the stylist. A call back and he tells me that if every client complained after three weeks of color he would be out of business. I told him he clearly has a good clientele and they are capable of good work but something very bad happened to my hair that day please please reimburse me the money. This is $393!!! Then he tells me that it's because I didn't tell the stylist about my previous color (thanks for blaming the client). So basically a bunch of run around and he can't find it in his heart as a business owner to make this right. The last I spoke to him he said he was going to talk to his wife. He's the owner of the business and if he wanted to pay me back he would. This back and forth nonsense is unprofessional and it's clear he has no intentions of making this right. The worst part about this is the blame the customer attitude and the fact that clearly they are capable of good work. Stuff happens. I've made my mistakes with work in the past and you eat it and move on from it. The fact that they are unwilling to reimburse one customer to make things right is horrendous. $393 is a lot of money for me and my family. I would be happy to swallow that amount if I loved the results. Reality is my hair looks worse than it ever has and I've been taken advantage of by a greedy and unprofessional salon with no business ethics. Thanks Saruni. read more
