We came across this sweet little place on yelp and wanted to give it a try. We walked in right as they were opening for the day on a Sunday. We were immediately greeted by smiling faces and directed on what to do. We got our food within the first 5 mins in the door. We all had the fried chicken, and each got our 3 sides. The collard greens, cabbage, black eyed peas, and sweet potatoes were all incredible and complimented the chicken so well. The CHICKEN, not greasy and had the perfect crisp and flavor! When I tell you that homemade goodness is in every bite, I mean it! All meat just fell off the bone. The smoked flavor in the chicken is robust and delightful! The catfish had the perfect fry on it leaving the meat flaky and juicy. These collard greens were honestly, THE BEST greens I have ever tasted, hands down. We felt like family when we walked in, greeted with a smile from everyone and served with genuine kindness. From the moment we arrived to the second we left the service was superb. They explained how the buffet worked and the pricing. They were friendly and full of southern hospitality. I had the baked chicken mashed potatoes and the cabbage and sweet potatoes. It was all perfectly seasoned and delicious. I do wish the mashed potatoes were a little warmer but it's a mild complaint. Husband loved his fried chicken, black eyed peas, and cornbread. Son's favorite was the meatloaf which he said was better than mine. We all loved the Mac and cheese and cornbread. Tables with linen napkins and wonderful service by all. When we went on Saturday, 08/26/23, the only issue was the air conditioning. It wasn't working properly and it was quite warm in the dining room. It did not however deter us from enjoying our wonderful meal. I highly recommend everyone try Sascee's. The staff was sooooooo accommodating to my picky eater of a son, and really made what could've been a crappy (hangry toddler) experience into a positive one. Sascees was absolutely delicious and I was beyond relieved to find them open on a Sunday and no line! When I walked in the door I was warmly greeted and told how to maneuver the buffet. I went to the buffet, where a gentlemen manning it served the food on my plate. (He knew I was a noob when I tried to pick up my own plate...oops!) I had my pick of a meat and three sides (two meats and sides is also an option). I got the fried chicken (AMAZING - especially when paired with their Crystal River hot sauce) and sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a stand out - excellent in all ways. Fresh cornbread rolls are on each table for the guests. My only gripe is that I could tell the sweet tea was from a powder.
