Sorryhardto call it a classic gastropub. On another level, it's sort of a new American cafe, and in this particular vein of thinking, it certainly hits a lot of the high notes. The food is well-selected, with a smattering of farm-to-table plates, various proteins, and the classic pub selection of small bites. I really like the outdoor patio. The swamp coolers help to make the area hospitable even in the middle of the summer. I sat outside by myself, not too far from one of those blasting humidifiers, and enjoyed a nice cold beer and a delicious burger. My server was incredibly kind and very attentive. I think, in the long run, what I would most consider Milo to be is a restaurant that has a bar, that serves primarily farm-to-table delicious food. Yeah, that-seems to sum-it all-up. We completely understood the wait time and were willing to wait; we simply preferred to sit inside. Customers should not be made to feel unwelcome simply because they decline outdoor seating. I hope management addresses this, because the food and overall service were good, but this interaction negatively affected our experience.

I ordered the Atchafalaya Catfish, a catfish filet over a bed of rice smothered in crawfish Étouffée. It was amazing. The Étouffée was rich and hearty, with the perfect spice level, maybe the best I have had west of Baton Rouge. The catfish was crisp and golden, giving a great balance to the creamy Étouffée. My wife and I ate at Sascee's today, July 4th, and to be honest, we were trying to find some local Waco BBQ. Since it was a holiday many places were closed. This turned out to be great news for us. This place knows how to cook very well. Our waitress, Candice, was very nice and did a wonderful job. Collard greens and cabbage were as good as it gets. Everything was good though. I read a review on yelp that accused this place of reverse discrimination. I'll just say that those people must have been overly sensitive. All new places have bugs to work out and can take longer to serve you. The owner, cook, wait staff and everyone else were more than nice no matter who you were or what you looked like. I left satisfied and thought the portions were fine. Still thinking about the cabbage and greens. I wont visit Waco without going back. read more

Gave it 1 star because I cannot give it 0. Out of most everything on menu. We went on a Saturday night! How are you out of most things?? Did not tell me until food came and substituted on my order without asking because they were out. Waiter was horrible. Here is a bit of advice for them - fire your son. He was the worlds worst. Sat at our table to take our order. Never refilled our tea. Forgot to bring us bread. Had things we did not order on our bill. Never offered anything for free to help offset all the issues like waiting over an hour for what food we did get. What I did eat was great tasting. A shame. They have absolutely no idea how to run a business. A shame because they can cook. read more

Stopped here after a great day visiting Magnolia's. This place is absolutely disgusting. The water tastes so gross, the food is dry and inedible. We sat waiting for everything and lunch took over 2 hours. I wish we had trusted our fist instincts and left to go eat somewhere else. The chicken wings are so tiny, when I asked what they were, cornish hens, or what, the waitress said I'll ask my dad. She came back and said they don't know what kind of meat it is, they get it from the meat market. Needless to say, we all left feeling extremely nauseous! read more

Hands down the BEST southern style food in Texas. The baked chicken was so tender you could shred it with a fork, the collard greens were delicately flavored with smoked turkey and I don't think I will ever have macaroni that tastes as good as theirs.
