Sassafras is clean, quick, professional, and very reasonably priced. To me, these are the most important things in a waxing salon. Their loyalty program (buy 9 of one service get the 10th free) coupled with the rebooking discount is the ideal encouragement that I need to keep up with services. Having been a loyal customer to the European Wax Center chain (in California) I was desperate for a new salon dedicated to waxing, specifically places that will do full brazilians. (After reading a couple of the reviews and smh on this page there are a couple of things you should be aware about waxing: everybody's pain tolerance is different but it really depends on your esthetician and how they work with you, you probably won't get ALL your hairs out the first time/length really does matter when waxing, the frequency of your hair growth aka how fast everything grows back depends on how often you wax/if you shaved inbetween, and if you are unsatisfied with the work you can communicate that with your esthetician and they usually can explain why Of course waxing disclaimers don't come everytime you shave, so if you are going in for your first time DO tell them so they can let you know what to expect. Also it'll probably make it less awkward with your esthetician. I'm always awkward so I'm beyond that point...but I've had great customer service either way!) The place is CLEAN and well kept. There are bathrooms/wipes available for use too. The pricing for the services are well worth it. Especially when handling your lady/man bits. Yes, they do guys and pregnant ladies which is always good know! If you're looking for more savings after 10 services you'll get a free one. Also, all the basic information you need is on their website and they staff is prompt about answering their emails! This place is great, I'm definitely establishing myself as a regular and would recommend to any pro-waxers out there. read more

The estheticians are great and do a fine job giving Brazilian waxes, but the receptionist customer service is lacking and where I knock of 2 stars. No one calls you back when you leave messages to make an appointment?? The place is clean with bright simple decor. Located on Fulton St. at Jefferson, there is only street parking I believe so bring change or use your park mobile app. You can also park at the library across the road since the wax only takes about 20 mins, and the library validates for 1 free hour or you can pay a nominal fee. Last time I went to Sassafras was in 2014 so I'm not sure if they have new staff. If so, they're not very responsive so I guess I'll just have to take my business somewhere else if no one is going to return my calls right? Update 06/30/16: Chantelle (owner) offered me 25% for my last inconveniences so I was happy to make an appt. and go in today and take her up on ur offer ...Kara was badass and got me in and out in 20 mins distracting me from the pain with some funny chat Thx Chantelle and Kara, quick service, competitive pricing and responding to a bad experience warrants a 5 star read more

I would 100% recommend Sassafras to anyone looking for a quality Brazilian. I've been going for awhile now- I think 2 years and it is, by far, my favorite place to go in the city. I've tried many places all around GR. They are also taking the proper precautions during Covid, and that's comforting. I've come here plenty more times since my initial review. The staff is super friendly and helps you feel comfortable. You can make appointments online, and the pricing is laid out online so there is no surprises when you go to pay. The salon is clean and tidy, and I can usually find parking easily around the corner or on the street. A few times I've had some patchy results with my Brazilians, which is why I'm saying 4 stars for this review, but it's never been enough of an issue to stop coming here. read more

A little disappointed after my second sugaring. The first one was good. Hair was removed vs broken off. The second sugaring hairs were broken & not removed. Everything began growing again two days later. I emailed to ask how this might be resolved & never heard back from anyone. I won't be returning. read more

I'm sure I'm not the only woman that has been nervous before getting her first Brazilian wax. The staff were extremely professional, courteous, and made my first visit better than I expected. The wax was rather quick but thorough, not very painful at all like I expected, and lasted a few weeks. As a plus size woman, I was even more nervous about table size, rude comments or lack of care, but the staff exceeded my expectations. Sassafras was great!! I made an appointment with Christy on a whim because I was in town for a wedding. She did great!! She was quick and efficient and restored the shape of my brows. I was highly impressed with how painless the hard wax was and it barely left any redness (and I have sensitive skin)! The only thing I would suggest is that she asked me if there was anything specific I wanted/ needed to be done to my brows. She did a great job though so I still give her and the salon 5 . Also, the receptionist was really sweet- giving me recommendations for places to have lunch. If I'm ever back in town, I'll be making an appointment :) read more

If I could leave a zero star review, I would. Cancelled an appointment and was charged twice for the appointment. When I emailed about the mistake Chantelle provided very unprofessional emails. Stating it was my fault and I wouldn't be refunded. I've been going to the salon for two years and refuse to pay for services not rendered. I would not suggest this salon the ownership has zero integrity and horrible customer service. Would not recommend. read more

Extremely fast work. I had Brazilian, lip, armpits, eyebrow shaping and leg wax jobs. It was all done in less than an hour. Fast!! My aesthetician did an amazing job of keeping me laughing, relaxed and distracted from the sting of the wax job. It was all my first time! I don't think I could have handled it if she didn't distract me the way that she did. This salon is perfect for me because the work is top notch, it's squeaky clean but also laid back. Decided to give Sassafras a try since they had a Groupon. The salon is clean and cute, but not the best wax I've ever received. The esthetician missed a few very obvious spots and her technique seemed like it could use some work. Megan is the bomb. Surprisingly my wax was relatively painless(it hurt but was very bearable compared to my other experiences). I did not take any medication. I've been going to sassafras for about four months now. Recently I moved to a new town about an hour away. When I went to go for my appointment I typed to the GPS sassafras. Unfortunately when I arrived at the location I realized I was at the incorrect sassafras. I immediately called to let them know of my mistake. A very genuine one. I offered to come at a later time or date. Shortly there after I noticed on my credit card that I was charged full price, although I did not receive any services. Despite the fact that my mistake was genuine calling to let them know and apologies. After disputing this charge on my credit card I received a distasteful and almost rude phone call from the owner of the business. The owner wanted to confront me that I was a no-show and that I should've been charged the full amount instead she was charged and I cost her money. I attempted to explain to the owner that my intentions were not bad and I was so sorry. She carried on that I should've paid the full fee. I was very upset with this interaction and this dispute over an accident. Although the staff is kind and polite this does not make up for the accident that I was charged for and receive such a harsh phone all for. I was not notified that I would have to pay the full price for no service. Although I had two good experiences there I am quite disappointed with the lack of understanding that this owner showed. I expressed to the owner that they would no longer receive my business and she replied "good". read more

I went here on Valentine's day to get a Brazilian wax. She was very fast but missed a ton of spots. Most of my hair that was removed started growing back in just a week because it wasn't pulled up by the roots, just ripped. I have had better waxes before, so I will not be returning. read more

I created this account to write this review. The customer service was great but I came upon this salon as a walk-in. They were able to help me right away. The lady waxing my eyebrows was really sweet and friendly and talked to me the entire time so it made it even worst when I looked in the mirror and saw that my eyebrows had been butchered. When I looked in the mirror I tried to hide my reaction because I was so embarrassed and her response was "they have a really nice shape, there were a few hairs I couldn't get though" And it wasn't a nice shape my eyebrows look completely different than one another the hairs she missed were something I easily plucked out. I honestly wish I had never come here and done my eyebrows myself. Now I spend at least 20 minute doing makeup magic to fix my eyebrows. I still tipped the girl because I honestly felt like it was my fault for trusting that an establishment known for waxing would do a good job. I was wrong. Do not come here for your eyebrows ladies, it will haunt you like it haunts me everyday. read more

I don't often write Yelp reviews, but I thought my experience was negative enough that I'd want to know if I were trying Sassafras out for the first time. To be clear, I have only had waxing (other than brows) done one other time besides this, so it may be that I just don't know how waxing is supposed to go. But regardless, it was not worth the money. I went in to get my underarms waxed. As another reviewer mentioned, the esthetician waxed there several times, probably 4 on each underarm. For one thing, she never told me what she was doing, which, for a novice waxer, is a little nerve-wracking. I would just prefer to know what is being done. Worse than that though, when she finished the wax and then went over the underarms with tweezers, I was shocked. She had missed SO much hair. (Of course, I didn't notice this until later in the day since my pits hurt so bad that I couldn't lift my arms.) But there were so many obvious chunks of hair still in there. I'm not sure if she broke the hair off with the wax or just somehow missed it altogether, but it was bad either way. I was frankly in too much pain to go back and have it re-done. The hair that did come off correctly grew back in a week. At the end of the day, I would never go back. The salon is cute and the people were sort of nice (the esthetician didn't talk to me at all...), but I'm not willing to spend any kind of money on something that doesn't work. I have to say, I expected a lot more from a salon that specializes in waxing. read more

Went in over the weekend for underarm and lower leg maintenance, very dissatisfied. She waxed each underarm about 6 times, and went I checked in the mirror, i realized she missed tons of spots. Incredible that after 6 times, she still missed ton of hair. Same with the legs. She even offered to wax my big toe and I couldn't believe she missed all the hair there. Thanks God I didn't pay full price. One underarm is irritated. Dont recommend this place. Good concept but need experienced workers. read more

My eyebrows look great and I left happy! I felt some wax get close to my eyelid during the wax but after I left it looked just like the normal redness after you get waxed. But it turns out I have a pretty bad burn. It's somewhat painful and is now peeling and looks bad. Not how I planned to look on vacation. Overall I think it's a good place I just had this unfortunate experience. Not sure if I'll go back. read more
