My now husband and I had the pleasure of working with Amanda from Sassy Little Bee (SLB) for our wedding this summer, and I can't say enough good things! Originally we had planned on doing more of the wedding planning/coordination ourselves and only hiring a coordinator for the last month to actually run our event the day of. However, as we got deeper into the wedding planning process, we quickly realized that the mountain of organization and expertise was going to be more than we could (or wanted to) handle. That's when I found Amanda! Starting with our first conversation, it was apparent that Amanda was great at her job. She was an excellent listener, asked tons of questions to get to know me and what my husband (then fiancé) and I were like as a couple and was genuinely interested and easy to talk to. I felt so comfortable with her and her abilities, I knew she would be the perfect person for us I to work with through our entire wedding journey, not just the day or month of. I didn't even meet with any other coordinators after meeting with Amanda! From the get go, Amanda kept in good contact with us, and was very responsive to our questions. Where do I begin. Amanda pretty much saved our hearts and minds during our engagement. She somehow made our lives bearable. Now I know engagements are supposed to be all about love and happiness and that is true, it's such an amazing time but I will be totally honest, planning a wedding is STRESSFUL! And you need someone like Amanda to help keep you both keep sane and to take some of the load off from your already busy lives so you can actually enjoy your engagement. To name just a few of the things we went through so you can understand how amazing Amanda is and how startling it is that she was able to manage it all; I had some serious medical conditions causing us to postpone our wedding a year and cut our budget significantly, both my mom and my then fiancés dad were in serious condition with long hospital stays at different times, we lost four of our precious fur babies (2- 15 year olds and 2 new babies to help us get over losing our older ones), and we had a wedding vendor that cancelled our contract due to a difference in opinion on a color of paint. Now you can imagine all the late night/ early morning phone calls, texts, and emails that the amazing Amanda must have received throughout our engagement. She called our vendors, worked on contracts behind the scenes, dealt with issues so we only had to do what was needed. Amanda also made sure we were on top of things on our end. She gave us checklists and to dos to make it simple. This review is long overdue but I am reminded constantly by guests of what an amazing job Amanda and her team did at our wedding and I agree with them completely so I have to share. We first met Amanda when her business name was Botanic Allure (not surprised yelp reviews are 5 stars there too!) in the summer of 2015. Our awesome wedding was May 28, 2016. We started planning our wedding a year before and by the time we met Amanda, my husband, and I had met with a couple of other wedding planners and even considered asking my maid of honor to be our planner. First off, any family member, friend, or otherwise guest should never be a potential wedding planner because, let's face it, its a mistake, and for several reasons. You need someone that has EXPERIENCE and can be emotionally detached to be able to give you honest and direct feedback. Second, your guests are supposed to be guests and take part and enjoy your special day with you. Amanda was referred to us by our DJ and upon meeting her, we knew it was the right fit. We connected with her in a way that we didn't with the other wedding planners. As a gay couple, we felt it was important that we had someone that would connect with us and be honest about our choices and concerns when it came to the wedding planning and Amanda did just that. Amanda has a relaxed, yet professional personality that, of course, won us over. Yes, like everyone else, the cost was a concern, and what we loved about Amanda, is that she offered three separate packages that could fit any one's needs. I remember we chose the middle of the two packages but looking back at it now, would I had found her sooner, I would have booked her for the whole year of planning. Meeting her for the first time, she was able to tell us about each package and why each was so unique and catered to what we needed. Throughout the months after booking her services, Amanda was available by email, by text or by the phone like she promised. We expected her to be busy with weddings being year round but she knew how to communicate her availability and always delivered with what she promised. I met Amanda at an Event at Brick (the venue I chose). I had been speaking with another coordinator whose prices were really high for what I was getting. Lots of coordinators have 3-5 different packages, which are hard to understand when you've never planned a wedding. "So I get you 4 weeks before and some vendor recommendations, but you won't help me if I ask for your opinion on seating arrangements?" kinda thing. When I called Amanda, she started getting to know me right away and asking about my vision for my wedding. We set up a meeting at her office to go through everything I'd already done. It was a 3 hour meeting, and she was documenting everything even before I had committed to her. I was super impressed by this commitment to me, so I chose Sassy Little Bee. She was available to answer questions even months before my wedding. She is professional, kind, super down to earth, honest, reliable, and just gets it. I unfortunately got married on the rainiest day I've ever seen in San Diego. We almost had to change my beloved circular seating ceremony because of the logistics, but she figured out how to make it work, saved me $$thousands$$ for the tent, and we got to do the circular ceremony. She recommended to me other great vendors. She knows this business and this city. You need a coordinator like Amanda at a do-it-yourself venue like Brick.
