POLISH BOY: Nice snap to the sausage, good sauce, and slaw
    Oli G.

Solid food. Their "most popular" chicken sandwich was just okay. The kale slaw was a different taste change of pace as opposed to a regular Cole slaw. Their "house" sauces could've been better. Fries were fresh and hot and didn't seem store bought but I could be wrong. We ordered some wings and they were just okay because they weren't uniformly breaded as certain areas had no breading while other areas were breaded. Also we ordered them with the sauce on the side but the sauce just tasted like Franks Red Hot hot sauce. Also the fact that the wings weren't rolled in any sauces exposed the fact that the wings were soggy and soaking with grease like a sponge. It's like after maybe PAR FRYING them the grease wasn't hot enough that when they called themselves reheating them in the grease it just soaked up the grease like a sponge instead of making them hot and crispy with a nice crunch on the outside. Albeit greasy and not uniformly coated they were okay or maybe we were just hungry and were glossing over problems? They had a red and blue frozen drink that were both meh. The worst thing we had was the MACARONI & CHEESE. It was just yellow colored noodles with ZERO FLAVOR. I should've known it wasn't going to be good be most places that make their Mac and cheese unctious, soulful, ooey, gooey, and creamy will make this side a PREMIUM SIDE, won't include it in a combo, or make it an UPCHARGE. Not this place, they are MORE THAN GLAD to include Mac and cheese in any and every combo and they can't wait to get rid of this stuff. It was seriously inedible! The polish boy was solid though. I'm an out of towner but folks in the Cleveland area know about this spot and its other locations and tons of folks there has co-signed on it. To me it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either and maybe we just caught on a bad day but overall it's solid and you should give em a try.

Cilantro buffalo chicken sandwich with street corn
    Evan F.

Came here earlier in the week for a first time go, mainly due to the Cleveland Wing Week celebration. Daughter and i wanted to try both an order of their wings as well as one of their award-winning chicken sandwiches. We got takeout (due to COVID-19) and everything traveled home well. We ordered their garlic parm wings and wanted something with medium-ish heat so we chose the cilantro buffalo version of their sandwich. The garlic parm wings were plump and super-charged with garlic butter and parmesan; they appeared to be breaded and fried. The flavor was almost a bit too intense, so I doused a few drops of Frank's red hot sauce on them and viola!...they were rock star! The cilantro buffalo chicken sandwich was mammoth (hanging out of the bun) with three huge breaded tenders drenched in their sauces and topped with cotija cheese lettuce and tomato. Unfortunately, the bun was somewhat dry and did not hold up particularly well to the sauces. The side of street corn was creamy and tasty, but a tad watery. Fries were excellent...seasoned and crispy. Looking forward to giving them more tries when we can dine in person where we can sample other sandwich and wing flavors.

    10 BBQ wings. Delicious
    David E.

The whole wings for me were fired to perfection and the BBQ sauce was so so good. I am going back. I have been driving north and east from CH to get perfectly battered fried wings smothered in delicious sauce (Hot Sauce, Whitmore's, Open Pit, Mt. Pleasant, Kim's ect.) since '89. Now in the '23, I can drive south to the burbs and get great fried whole wings smothered in BBQ sauce.

Hot chicken sandwich and it's absolutely amazing
    Craig L.

Oh ma good nass. I had heard the stories of the amazing hot chicken sandwich and they are all true. I am late to the party on this one but I can honestly say it was worth the wait. I have had the Cleveland Hot Chicken Sandwich three times. Each time has been equally amazing. I keep wanting to go and try another sandwich but the staple sandwich is so damn good I end up going with it. The side. Two half's street corn. I don't EVEN LIKE CORN ON THE COB and theirs is fantastic. Besides magic I really don't know what's on it. Sour cream? Cayenne pepper? It is fantastic. The sandwich has fantastic flavor but I will warn you that it is messy. I mean napkins aren't going into do the trick. You are gonna need wet naps or a shower after. The corn is all over your face and then your hands are drenched w the sammich. If you haven't tried it yet...go get it. Let me know what you think. I swear I'm going to try another one of their sandwiches NEXT time

Horrible!!! Do not waste your time or money!!!

We were notified on a post mention on our buckey_state_foodies Instagram page and to our delight we opened the mention and it was Sauce the City with a nice post quoting "Buckeye State Foodies inspired". We felt honored by the mention and decided to take the hour drive to Cleveland and there we were placing our order. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich with side of street corn! The sandwich was even better then it looked. It was The side of street corn was such an added bonus to this meal!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!! The hubby ordered the Smokehouse Honey BBQ Chicken sandwich. His review: That sauce, that sauce , that sauce . And not to forget the street corn. Well done. Can't wait to get back and try another offering.

Excellent food quality, and friendly staff. The sandwich was voted #1 in Ohio and definitely lived up to its reputation! The portions were large--we got two meals out of the hot chicken sandwich! Will definitely go back.

Delicious d'ete chicken sandwich with mini peach feta salad on the side $15. New place, no room to dine in. Plenty of food options from tenders to wraps and salads. Lots of spice level choices and even ones for wimps like me! Not badly priced at all.

My friend Tadarius and I check-in out Sauce the City for Lunch!
    Jaime N.

I stopped into the Sauce the City today for lunch with a friend since I'm visiting back in town from Phoenix. It was recommended by a bunch of people as a MUST VISIT in Cleveland. Let me tell you, the SAUCE in this spot, did NOT disappoint! To start the location is great! There's a stunning prime view of the downtown skyline straight out of the storefront windows down the looking Detroit-Superior Bridge. The high ceilings and alternating brick walls adorned with colorful artwork create a fresh "trendy" clean-cut urban vibe that make it a versatile spot to throw a party, have night out with friends, or just grab a lunch and hang! The food however was the main selling point. I saw Chef Vick behind the counter creating the work of art that was my Smoked BBQ chicken sandwich and street corn. Living in Phoenix now, street corn has become a staple of my diet, and this is some of the best I've ever had! The sandwich had the perfect balance of sweet and savory with perfectly cooked chicken that had a nice crisp! Check the photos! It was incredible! My friend had the crispy portobello burger (he's a vegetarian) and he was also blown away by the flavor! These sauces are unmatched! I was extra hungry today so I also grabbed a spicy chicken pizza with a ranch drizzle. It had the perfect amount of heat and was cooked to perfection. I brought some home to my mom, who isn't even a fan of spicy food, and she devoured it in minutes and asked where I got it If you're looking for a new entrant in the chicken sandwich wars that blows away the competition.. SPRINT to Sauce the City before this place is famous!

I stopped here just for the pizza on a late Friday afternoon. Since they peak lunch hours already passed the place was complete empty. I almost questioned if they were open. You basically walk into an open food hall. On the right is Sauce and on the left is a new all vegan place that opened. At Sauce, there were three employees working around a kitchen. I stood there for some time wondering if anyone was going to take my order? Honestly, the place looked like it was a kitchen that wasn't even in operation. lol Anyway, I finally placed my order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I ordered the 'Supreme' vegetarian. Comes with onions, olives, peppers, mushrooms. I eagerly waited starving for good pizza! The 15 minutes turned into 45! I grew frustrated thinking why did I come here? They actually had to go next door to the vegan place to get peppers and chop those and then check to make sure they had the other ingredients. The employee realizing how long this was taking, offered me a drink and apologized. At last, she brought out a boxed personal pizza and told me it was the first pizza she's made because normally her partner makes them. OKAY so the pizza was actually good! The sauce has a hint of vinegar that accents the flavors. However, I gave her feedback and noted it needed to be cooked a bit longer (as the center crust was still soft) and needed more sauce. She was nice and appreciated the comments. The toppings added were generous compared to what I've experienced at chain restaurants. The personal size pizza is pretty big with four slices that can be shared with one more person. This was $12.95. Lemonade is too sweet. They do have canned soda for sale (Fanta, Sprite, Coke, Mountain Dew), but didn't see any bottled water. Overall, the pizza is good but the service could be improved. It was extremely slow (even though I was the only person there and past peak lunch hour). Lucky they had free parking in a lot behind the place.

D'E'TE' Signature Chicken Sandwich with Dressed Street Corn
    Sarah E.

First of all, the location is super amazing. I went on a Wednesday night and it was fairly quiet, but great atmosphere. Would be a good date spot! Hip, some dim lighting, hip hop in the background, and a bar in the space across the hall. There are also a lot of large tables so it would also be great for a group outing. Ordering was simple and easy. Wait time wasn't too long. With the hot chicken sandwich being touted as Cleveland's best chicken sandwich, there was a lot to live up to. The sandwiches were amazing! I personally felt that the signature chicken sandwich was better than the hot chicken sandwich, but my friend disagreed. Good flavor and great texture. The signature sandwich had a sauce that was somewhat sweet, and the hot chicken sandwich had a vinegar based hot sauce. Definitely different flavors going on, both tasty. The plate also came with dressed street corn, basically an elote. It was pretty good. Very enjoyable! There was also some pickles and onions, which were perfect to add some acid to the sandwiches and elote.

    Fire Roasted Street Corn
    Luciana S.

This restaurant is located inside a food hall (formally the Ohio city galley). The line for this place is usually long and the food takes about 20 minutes. You'll have plenty of places to sit inside and outside to wait and eat. I tried the street corn which was cooked well and had the right ingredients. I could have done with more spice and hotter temperature; it was a bit cold when I got it. I'll have to stop by to try their signature chicken dishes sometime.

We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. The place does feel a little tight in terms of space with less lighting, but there's still plenty of seating and what matters to me more is good food. Overall, great place to try local food. Would get the loco moski and paprikash sandwich again.

I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

If we were not looking for this place specifically, I know we would've driven right past it! It's a standalone little building and the only markings I saw outside was a little sign that said BAR. We looked in the menu and opted for their famous Smashburger. It is $14 and comes with fries. It is a double patty cheeseburger. I did not want a burger that big so I opted for just one Patty. They said that was no problem, but the price was still the same. I also got onion rings, which were $3 more. The food came out really fast and you could tell it came right out of the fryer because the french fries were super hot! This place is called a dive bar, and I guess it is - but on a Saturday afternoon, the place was filled with all kinds of people. On one side of us was a family with little kids. On the other side of us was a couple in their 20s. And then the rest of the place was filled with people from every age group. I have to say that the music they play there is fabulous! But back to the food. The burger was seasoned really well! It is a smash burger, but they're still able to make it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our server was really good. She did not hover, but she was around to see if you need anything. Depending on the vibe that you're looking for, if you want more of a bar vibe, you should go in the evening, but we were happy to just be in a relaxed little joint with good food.
