As a downtown resident, I usually order through Toast and walk over to pick up my food, but since it was Game 2, I decided to watch the game while eating at the bar. I arrived a few minutes before halftime and sat at the bar. It wasn't busy, maybe six people total. I initially sat near the end by a column and figured the bartender might not notice me right away, but as a former bartender myself, I assumed he'd eventually make his way around the bar to check on guests. That never happened. After a couple of people left, I moved closer to the front of the bar near the entrance. A few more minutes passed before the bartender finally approached me. I had already grabbed my own menu from behind the bar area by that point. When I ordered, he asked if the food was "to go," which honestly made me feel like my sitting there during the game was more of an inconvenience than business. I ordered food and a drink. By the time my food came out, my drink was already about three-quarters gone, which would have been the perfect opportunity to check back in or offer another round. The food runner brought out my meal, but the bartender never checked on me once. I would have gladly ordered additional drinks, but I was never asked. Basic hospitality and bar service 101: check on your guests and keep the interaction going. I ate my food without so much as another drink to help wash it down. I closed out and left; there wasn't even a "thanks for coming in" or "have a good night." I ended up going elsewhere afterward to watch the 4th quarter, having a few more drinks, and receiving significantly better service. As someone who used to bartend, this experience was frustrating because good bar service is not complicated. A bartender who stays engaged with guests will naturally sell more drinks, create a better atmosphere, and earn better tips. I still tipped 17% because I don't stiff people, but that below my usual 25%+. That level of service didn't even deserve what I left. read more

Better than expected in a crowded space for restaurants, nearby Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Progressive Field. Food (3.5/5): Nothing special here but it does not have to be. Stopped by on a Saturday night looking for a quality handheld. Our waitress recommended the Chopped Cheese and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap; I opted for the wrap. It was a little thin and the chicken was dry in spots, but it was not expecting the world's best wrap either. The Buffalo sauce was flavorful and there was chicken in every bite. I really liked the fries. They were shoestring like and had a crispy outside with a mashed potato texture inside. Service (4/5): Way better than I expected. We were given a 30 minute wait, but were seated within 5 minutes of putting our names on the list. Our waitress got us waters right away, took additional drink orders, and was back quickly for our food order. The food came out in about 15-20 minutes. We came in on a Sunday night around 10 PM, and the vibe was so calm and relaxed--just what we needed. The ambiance felt like a chill, homey bar with really good music--not too loud, so you could actually have a conversation without shouting. We ordered the BYO pizza and the Super Hero burger with fries. The burger was so good I finished the entire thing--very generous portion. The pizza was also great! Visited Harry Buffalo with a co-worker recently. I saw on the menu that they offer a chopped cheese sandwich. I've been wanting to try chopped cheese for a long time and the day had finally arrived. My co-worker requested a bison burger with fries and I requested the chopped cheese with sweet potato fries and a coke. Our server was fast and friendly. A short while later, the food was delivered. The chopped cheese wat hot and very tasty. It had some spice to it, which was most likely jalapenos. I would have preferred it without the spice because the flavor and texture were excellent. I was in the area and wanted to try some wings, I waited until someone from the kitchen came to the front and said I could sit anywhere at the bar. I ordered the 8 piece bone in hot wings with fries, blue cheese, and a sweet tea. The tea was not sweet. I came back from the restroom and my food was already out, there was no blue cheese. The fries tasted crispy and fresh, it was dark but I could tell the wings were not hot wings as you can see. They were not drained of any grease and they seemed to be in some sort of dry rub that just clumped. I just ate everything as it was because I was so exhausted but I regret not saying anything because this was unacceptable. We came to eat here on Friday night the 13th our 1st night in town to watch the 49ers/Browns game. We also went back for a meal after the game ended on Sunday. Jen served us both times and did a good job. You can tell they're understaffed here which is no fault of the employees, having said that, Jen got our orders in in a timely manner both visits and checked on us multiple times too. She rolled off afterwards, I waited about 30 minutes for my food (it was dead, mind you) then when it was ready she just sat it down in front of me and walked away. I hadn't paid for my food yet. I had cash in hand and tried to get her attention but she was preoccupied talking to some guy at the end of the bar. I flagged down another server who was very nice (younger guy, didn't get his name) and he quickly grabbed me a ticket and I paid for my food and let. I got back to the hotel, half a block, bit into the burger, and it's raw. The toppings were wrong. The bun is soaked in what I assume is juice from the raw meat, and it was tossed in the garbage. The burger itself, is the best one I've had in the entire Cleveland city.. not going to lie. But the customer service here was really bad. The tip I left was minimal, and it was deserved. North I believe, is the name of the waitress that was on my receipt, and I was unimpressed. Sorry not sorry. Whoever the chef was that night, S/HE deserves the 5 stars. I have been to this location twice and omg the customer service is beyond AMAZING as well as the food. The first time I came here I had waiter by name of Jake and today I had waitress by name of Renee. They both were very hospitable. I love the Espresso martinis, the chopped cheese and the French onion soup, they are all great options. There are not too many restaurants that have good customer service but I must say the first time I came here which was during a game and they had a full house to this time when the place was empty. Excited to see there was a Harry Buffalo just down the street from our hotel, we thought it would be the perfect place to watch Sunday football. Our experience was mediocre at best. The main guy bartending was nice but definitely became overwhelmed as time went on. When we arrived, we noticed a guy slumped over and pretty much passed out on the bar. We thought it was strange but didn't think too much of it. It only got stranger when the same guy who had been passed out at the bar was now the one bringing us our food. I had no clue what to make of this. He didn't even have any type of uniform on indicating he worked there, he was just walking around in his blue winter coat serving food. As for the food and drinks. I started off with a pop and it was clear that the lines had to be changed, as there was a weird taste and no fizz. I then moved onto water, which also had a terrible taste. My husband and I both got boneless wings, which were ok but overall kind of overcooked and my husband mentioned that they were super dark so the oil was probably not fresh. The positives were the tasty Bloody Mary I ordered and the Busch Lights. I really don't like posting such a negative review, especially because I wanted this place to be a place we went to several times during our 4 day stay in Cleveland but there were just too many negatives for us to think about going back. Going to be one of my shorter review due to circumstances. I was supposed to meet a group of friends from work for a small holiday party at Harry Buffalo in the Gateway district; unfortunately due to the spike in COVID the party was cancelled and I did not see the email. When I got to Harry Buffalo I saw a couple of friends who let me know the party was cancelled, so I stayed for a short time to have a beer and a quick bite. Harry Buffalo is located across the street from the front of the Rocket Mortgage Field House, since no events were going on I found some street parking nearby. Walking in there are two separate rooms, the one on the left was closed; on the right was a bar and other seating. Decor is bare wood paneling and typical sports bar accessories, large glass windows all around give you a scenic view of the surrounding area. Service by the bartender was pleasant and timely. Overall the bar had a sparse crowd. I ordered a draft Guinness beer, for $6 a good sized pour. Since it was Taco Tuesday I ordered 2 shrimp and 1 fish tacos at $3 each. The food came out in a reasonable time. Both styles of Tacos were the same, small flour tortillas with the protein, Bang Bang sauce and shredded cheese. The fried fish was OK, while the shrimp were small but nicely fried and juicy. Overall I thought the food were a bit one-note in flavor and the portion size was small. Harry Buffalo was decent, but nothing especially noteworthy. Of course your experience could be quite different, I only tried one food item and there are plenty of other options. read more

We stayed in Cleveland for a few days, and were looking for a tasty burger joint near our hotel. The name made us chuckle and it was only a few blocks from our hotel, so we headed over to Harry Buffalo. The restaurant is located in a very hip area where lots of people are walking around, off to do and see interesting things. We were seated immediately when we walked in, and all of the staff were extremely nice and welcoming. This place has a great, fun atmosphere with upbeat music playing in the background and a few TVs for viewing various sports events. We ordered the boom boom shrimp for an appetizer and it came out within minutes. It was delicious!!! We both ordered burgers with fries and our food came out piping hot and......holy smokes. Those burgers were AMAZING. These guys have pretzel buns which always up the quality and taste of a burger, in my opinion. The ingredients were so fresh, the beef so perfectly cooked and juicy that it was like biting a piece of heaven. We left the restaurant content and at peace with the world.
