We came in at 3pm hoping to avoid big crowds during covid and found an empty table with no problem. We were disappointed to find they had no ribs so we ordered our second choice a Cuban and sliced brisket sandwich. Both with potatoe salad and one baked bean and one Cole slaw. The Cuban was good and way more than could be eaten at one sitting so we got to take half home for dinner. The sliced brisket was beyond delish and the bbq sauce on the table provided just the right amount of moisture for me. The potato salad Fulham a bit of hot spice but was still good while the Cole slaw was a little bland but still good. The food was excellent but there was no place to go to provide any social distancing. People were on top of each other and a total of 3 masks were counted, in the entire restaurant including hubby's. I called the order for a slab of ribs in and was told 25 minutes. We got there in 20 minutes and hubby went in. There was no window from which you could get your to go order you had to go into the bar/restaurant. Other then two empty tables everything else was full. There was no place to go without having people on top of him. Instead of 6' distancing it was more like 2' or less. It was a bar/restaurant that was packed. If our food had been ready, he wouldn't have been so uncomfortable but the 25 minutes became 45 minutes. We might go back if the pandemic ends, but not with the crowd in this place. read more

I normally enjoy going to the Sauced Hog for a quick bite to eat. We went one a Friday night. There was a one man band playing. His music wasn't horrible but the acoustics in the restaurant were absolutely horrible and very loud. We couldn't have a conversation and was very stressful. I won't go again if music is playing. Wellll.....always seems busy so I got a take out pulled pork sandwich on a Kaiser roll with two sides. The "Kaiser " roll was just a bun with a greasy top. Pork was mushy and greasy. Great bar-b-que! Terrific sides. Full line of very good appetizers. They have a full menu: appetizers, sandwiches, sides, dinners. We had the smoked prime rib and smoked brisket. Service was quick the food was great. Yes, it is a bar, but it is real bar-b-que too - you'll see it and smell it the minute you pull into the parking lot. Wait staff were very efficient and friendly. Tables are distanced. We were there about 5:30 and noticed that about the time we got our dinner the place was really filling up - mostly family groups. When I looked at the Yelp page I was rather put off but the menu items listed and one comment about something racist on the door. Saw nothing like that on the door, just a bumper sticker supporting police and they have a full and varied menu - nothing like what was posted in yelp. So if you like bar-b-que, definitely give this place a try. We will be going back for sure. read more

Me and my Fiance traveled all the way from Gainesville because we had been hearing about how special their Wednesday night dinner was from her father. Man, was he right! All you can eat wings that were so good I'd make the drive again, your first beer free if you wear your "Sauced Hogs" T-shirt (which her dad luckily had an en extra for me!) and some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Haven't been since the name changed from Fat Daddy's. The name should be "over smoked hogs"I ordered the brisket, well they did not have any, so I went with the pulled pork. It was AWFUL, dry, and way over smoked all I could taste is smoke. I finally stopped wondering abut this place, and despite of the bad reviews I read, I gave them a try... I wish I hadn't The service was good. The food, not so much. I had the BBQ chicken and baby-back rib combo. The chicken leg and thigh were like chicken jerky, dry and chewy, and swimming in sauce. The sauce was good, but nothing could have save that chicken. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, but also a little dry. They had little flavor, except for the sauce. This was odd, considering you could feel the texture of their dry rub in your mouth, reminiscent of sawdust. The wings were fried fresh, which was nice, except there was an unpleasant taste, like the deep fryer oil needs changing. The coleslaw was okay, the baked beans... from a can. It did seem to have a regular crowd of locals at the bar. I suppose the food would be better if I was drunk. The prices were good, too bad the food wasn't read more

Hubby and I saw this place on the way to Hernando. So glad we stopped in for lunch. Both had pulled pork with different sides. We sampled each others other's plates. Pulled pork was some of the best we have had. Served with sliced peppers on top. I'm not big on peppers but really liked it on the pork. We had potato salad, sweet potato fries, fried okra and baked beans. All were prepared perfectly. Servings were large. Required a to go box. Had two draft ultra's which were served cold. Love this new place. Lunch and dinner are both very good. They have there own smoker so their meet tastes great. I love the hot wings. They are the best around. I also recommend the sweet potato fries. Its a big portion and their nice and crispy. My husband likes the pulled pork. Also karaoke is a hoot on Thursday nights. Just relaxing and the environment is great and even the other customers are friendly. Hey I really like this place. The help, the crowd and no smoking inside. I'm going to give them another chance but I was disappointed in the meat on my first visit. I ordered a prime rib but what came out was a "poor man's prime rib". It is not appropriate to charge prime rib prices for a piece of chuck roast. The prime rib has a distinctive profile. The ribeye cut is round and has a predictable coma shaped fat line near the border. The grain of true prime rib is soft but firm. Chuck is pithy. Worse yet, if chuck is ordered medium or less it is like trying to cut rubber bands. I took the biggest piece of meat home after leaving half the serving behind because it was scrap. At home, it was obvious that this cut wasn't true prime ribeye. I will say that it was properly smoked and seasoned. SH is not alone...there are several places here in rural Florida that are doing the same thing. For $19 I should be getting an actual prime rib and not a chuck roast wannabe. read more

My husband and I have been going to Sauced Hogs for two years now and love the place. Although we try to NEVER miss a Thursday.. Karaoke Night, we have stopped in for lunch during the week and some evenings. The wait staff are a group of fantastic hard working people and if you are lucky enough to get Paul or Sammy, you have it made! The food is good and the entertainment is the best. Went last night for a drink on our way home because we live two minutes away. I'm 22 and always get carded so I handed over my ID when one of the bartenders asked. I have a new Florida ID issued to me in December when I moved here and it looks very different from the old Florida IDs so the bartender took it into the back. I assumed she was going to scan it or ask a manager about it. When she came back she told me she had never seen this new ID before and couldn't accept it, and asked if I had another form of ID with my birth date on it. I didn't, so she told me she couldn't accept it. When my boyfriend asked to speak to the manager, she sent out a kitchen staff instead, and only then told us that she couldn't find the manager. The guy from the kitchen told us he didn't even see the ID in question, but stands by the bartenders decision not to accept it. Another bartender, Kelsey, was kind enough to tell us that she knew what the new IDs looked like and that her boyfriend had one as well after he recently moved here too. I still had to leave to bring back another form of identification with my birth date on it. Not an overall good experience at all. They need to update their staff on new IDs now that we are 4 months into the year and Florida has been distributing them for 5. read more
