We recently visited saucy mamas midweek and the food was good but our order came out wrong and then I kind of felt gypped on the garlic bread. But I'll start with what's good, pizza taste great. Obviously it didn't taste the same as if it was baked from the get go and was a little cold by the time they brought it back out. Now the garlic bread, just don't buy it. We ordered a two piece and I assumed it would be a half a French bread loaf. What came out was so disappointing that you could only laugh. I kid you not it looked like half a hot dog bun. Yup one side of a hot dog bun with garlic butter and a ketchup cup with sauce to dip it in. I do believe, I'd give them a second chance if I'm being honest but my first visit is the only mulligan they'll get. We got the meatlovers pizza and the grandma's spaghetti with meatballs. Noodles were overcooked and it was very watery. This place was good. My family has had a house in Big Bear for years and we have always wanted to try it, so we finally did. We ordered a large pizza and after tip it came out to just under $30. A bit expensive for what it is. Overall, not a bad pie. The crust was thin, nice and crispy underneath but not burnt and the toppings were good. The service was pretty standard for Big Bear, nothing over the top but they were nice. The restaurant was small can can't accommodate large parties (10 or more) and what wait list was long. This is the second time I am reviewing Saucy Mama's and I have mixed reviews for different things. Hear me out. My significant other had called to place a pickup order. After going through the entire order, we asked if they did a military discount, of which the guy said, yes, but indicated we had to show an ID for it. We said we had it and would provide when we picked up. but guy said it had to be in person and they need to do payment via phone, and then the kid hung up on him. Upon calling back my boyfriend asked if he could speak with a manager, and the person said there was none there (6pm on a Saturday), and no owner or anything. Literally no one to speak with who manages the place. He asked the kid who he could speak with to help us, and asked for his name and he refused to give his name. So I decided I wanted to still try the pizza, I went to order in person and bring home. Met with Christian, who was very nice and helpful, who took my order to go, entering every detail right in front of me on the screen. Then I asked him who the owner and / or was because I wanted to speak with them about the call and he indicated there was none and no manager. I asked about Diane Murray - listed in an article I found online who was said to be the owner and he indicated it wasn't her. Said the don't have any manager or owners, that the article was fake, they have no website (true) and all they needed to run were Yelp. When discussing the phone call he indicated several times that they are one of very few places in BB that even allow takeout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And it's very difficult to hear with the noise of bar/restaurant, and they are super busy- so basically, with what I was hearing, I had no one to comment to regarding customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While waiting, I Decided to hit up the fudge shop we love next door to be able to utilize the 10% off with saucy mamas receipt. Happened to ask the woman there if she knew who owned saucy mamas - and she indicated was same owner as the fudge shop. She indicated: Tracy Gonzalez and Adolfo. Ok. Makes sense with one of the menu items being after Adolfo. It would be nice if either of you would see this and understand what goes on with your business. While the food was delicious, I am not sure how I could honestly recommend going here with these kids running the place. Went back to saucy mama's and picked up food. I will say- Christian, thank you very much. You were informative and put in order with details- adding the ranch! Just a shame we didn't get the chicken we paid for with the Caesar. For the food. Loved the pizza, great bubbly and perfect crisp crust, not too much sauce and my half - meatballs, garlic, tomatoes were great- mouth watering an tasty, just a little inconsistent with meatballs on some slices compared to others. Other half pepperoni, garlic and chicken. Their chicken is cooked perfectly and delish! Ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. Extra dressing and croutons on side. Croutons and dressing were fantastic. but they forgot the chicken. So $4 lost for that miss. Again, shame bc the chicken is good. Mozzarella sticks were thin and crispy. Did not want to call again to deal with no manager or owner. So, while I'd say the food is pretty good, the busy chaos of the restaurant makes it hard for good service, especially if you wish to order takeout. And pickup with a small area at end of bar for order/pickup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Busy is good, because food is good, but the rudeness of kids manning the phones was disappointing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Honesty by Christian was appreciated, but No accountability, no management structure or sense of order. Felt like a just young kids running a restaurant with no leader. I am disappointed to say we wouldn't go back. It's hard to post a review with good food and not recommend, but I truly feel customers deserve respect, a sense of responsibility and order from a restaurant to provide great value - and without that I would not recommend. Tried Saucy Mamas today and I was honestly impressed! The service was super quick, and the staff were really attentive without being overbearing. The food came out fast and was delicious, plus I loved that it wasn't piping hot to the point where you have to wait for the food to cool down. Definitely a great spot if you're craving good pizza. Best pizza I have had in a long time. First time here in big bear- I was told To try saucy mama from a friend. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the host. The wait was about 7 mins. The place reminds me of the typical pizza place .. televisions around so you can watch the game , bar top, etc. We ordered wings and a pepperoni, sausage and basil pizza. Server was very attentive. He brought us our drinks fast and the rest of our order came out in no time. this pizza was the perfect amount of seasoning, cheese and grease!!! Came here on a packed Saturday afternoon and tried the Tracy's Choice pizza, chicken caesar salad, tater tots, and chicken strips. The tater tots and chicken strips came out pretty quickly. A little too much batter on the chicken for me, but it was also super crispy and the chicken was juicy - pretty good! The tots were also a bit over, but I did enjoy the crisp. The pizza and salad took a bit longer to come out - close to 20 more minutes. But it was busy, so I get it. Besides the weird cutting on the pizza, it was pretty good! I appreciated how it wasn't super hot - just hot enough that my kids could eat it after only a few minutes of waiting. It's pretty much a Hawaiian pizza - my kids approved. Great place for a quick dinner in Big Bear! We came in to place a to-go order around 4:00 and opted for one of the "build your own" options. We went for a medium pizza with pastrami, chicken, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. Waited around 15 minutes for our food and brought it back to our cabin. We ended up re-heating it on a pan later that day for dinner and it was surprisingly good! The pastrami and artichoke hearts were my favorite. The artichoke tasted really fresh, and the pastrami was a nice touch and very unique; I don't think I've had pastrami on pizza before. The crust was fluffy on the inside and not too hard. I've been here twice, and was disappointed both times. Everyone in Big Bear tells you that this is one of the best restaurants in town. I think it must be a joke to them as this place isn't even "good" let alone "great". The lines/wait to get in are horrible. And when you finally get seated, it's a very limited menu. We asked our waitress what kind of pasta (noodles) they had and she said "spaghetti and Alfredo". We asked her if she meant fettuccine, but she said no - it was spaghetti and Alfredo. Of course it was fettucine. I got the "rolled lasagna" (that was really manicotti) and I asked for no pepperoni or sausage in the cheese stuffing. Clearly they had never heard of such a request before. Suffice it to say, they didn't get it right. We also tried the pizza, and while it was okay, it wasn't worth the hype/wait. We waited to be seated then host came up asked how many then walked us to the table and threw the menus on it and walked away. After placing our order, we didn't see our server again until the food was brought out, and we didn't see him at all after that. We ended up asking another staff member for the check. I really want to give this place a better review. I got the mac tastic pizza which is a white pizza with mac and cheese. There were maybe 4 pieces of mac and cheese per slice that were dried out and hard. I got jalapenos and that was literally the only flavor I could taste. I get why people might like this place because of the overkill on the cheese which I understood walking in. But when you say a pizza is mac tastic you expect creamy mac and cheese with every bite. At least top it with mac and cheese sauce, not just melted cheese. My husband got the rolled lasagne and he was put off by how much cheese was on it.
