We went to the Bear Trap for some lunch. We ordered some salads, beers, pizza, and chicken strips. We all enjoyed our food and the Hazy brew was my favorite. The service was polite, friendly, and pretty speedy. We sat indoors, but they also have outdoor seating. It was chill inside, and we enjoyed our meal.
We had the best smoked beef ribs ever. I thought they flew them in from Texas. Real wood fired smoke. Turns out the owner Miguel smoked them for 26 hours. Paired with their infamous smoked old fashioned. Second to none!
Made a fishing trip to big bear lake and on the way to the lake this place caught my attention. Simple look outside but the paint and sign really catch your eye. After we wrapped up our fishing session we packed up and double backed to have dinner here. Man, am I glad we did! We had a large group and they were able to accommodate us without a hassle. They had board games and other things to keep the whole family entertained. Evelyn was so on point! She had so much good energy it felt like she was part of our group. The food was delicious and they rolled it out perfect without missing a thing which is impressive for how many were in our group. I was so caught in the moment I didn't take pictures of everything we ordered. I think eating here is going to become part of the big bear fishing tradition moving forward. Thanks again bear trap team!
The food may be a little more simple, and the service is amazing! When I say simple, that means outstanding burgers, salads, and pizza!!!! A great selection of beer and cocktails. And I'll come back to service - just wow!!!!!! Everyone is so nice, which makes the experience even better. Can't wait to come back!!!
I was looking for a place to watch the Mexico World Cup match and man am I glad this place popped up. The draft list was maybe the best restaurant beer list I've ever seen. Highland Park Brewing, Trillium, Cellarmaker, and Monkish?!?! How do you choose? The vibes were strong and they had a great drink menu too. The service was so friendly and quick. They have a military discount as well. Can't wait to spend more time here when we visit.
This is the 3.5 in my eyes, the things that it has going for it is on the outside of town before you hit all the madness. If you're looking for an easy meal with adequate Parking, then it's probably it Now onto the food, $5.50 for a soda is way too high priced in my opinion, yes, its served in a bottle, but still can't warrent that price tag. The rest of the food is OK, my son opted for the chicken tenders and tater tots which came out hot and he said that they were pretty good. I tried to Smashburger with the steak fries, which was good but it's a frozen burger patty and it's hard to cook it to a preferable temperature so it seemed like it was overdone. The fries were great though. I also tried to meat lovers pizza, which was good, but the sauce was canned and it was acidic for sure. Not the best pizza in the world. The people that owned the place were super cool and friendly. The server was also super friendly and helpful which I appreciated. They do not bring water to your table and you have to fill your own water cup at the door which if I'm paying a tip I don't really like Everything here is fried it's bar food. Yes it's a tap room I know but maybe after five beers the food would taste better than if you were sober. Hope they do well up here as it's one of the few spots that you can get in and out of without hassle.

It was big and I thought I couldn't finish it but it was so good that I did. I also loved that they were pet friendly so I got my dog 2 patties (each $4) and she enjoyed it Ambience: there's indoor seating and outdoor patio seating which overlooks the street and lake behind. I really enjoyed sitting outside. Service: was A1. I should've got my servers number but he had glasses and a beard, I think medical and tall with dark hair. He was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. I was also contemplating between 2 beers so he brought out both for me to sample out. This def heightened my experience here I was actually craving a burger so I yelped for 30 min and bookmarked 4 places and kept going back and forth indecisive of where to go, but finally decided to come here and so glad I did. Overall I really enjoyed everything here today for lunch. So much that I recommended it to my friend who has a cabin here. And will recommend to other friends who visit big bear. I will definitely come back.
We had lunch here before checking into the cabin. The Bear Trap has an outdoor patio which is pet-friendly and we had two of our doggies here. I ordered an OG burger and split that! It comes with two patties and caramelized onions, pickles, melted cheese, and some secret sauce. They have a lot of different types of burgers and we also got wings, tater tots, chicken tenders, and French fries to share with our party of six. Service was fantastic and our food came out with the quickness! Overall, I would highly recommend visiting here and enjoying some delicious food!

They have yummy food here. If you're visiting big bear and want some yummy finger foods and beer they have it here. We tried the garlic bread and the nachos. That was one of the best garlic bread we ever had I love how much garlic they put in every bite. The nachos were really good too my hubby liked how the chicken was seasoned on it. They put a lot of nacho cheese, jalepenos, and guacamole, it was enough food for 4 people. But we killed it all. The customer service was great too. Thanks guys
Nice place to stop on your way into town. The server was so nice and accommodating. The music was bumping playing all the hits out get was pleased. The wings are fantastic and the drinks were yummy. We talked about this place the whole weekend.

Bear Trap is such a great place! The owners are amazing and always make you feel welcome--it has that comfortable, home-away-from-home atmosphere. Brandon, the bartender, makes some seriously good drinks too! Great people, great service, and a place you'll definitely want to come back to. If you're in big bear, I highly recommend trying this place. read more

Where do I start?? Got there about 8pm, found 2 seats at the bar with great seating options scattered throughout the dining area. Being my first time I like to gauge the staff/table ratio ti get an idea on wait time for service. While waiting for my friend, I noticed a large table off to the side having drinks and playing a card game. I was impressed seeing that they were consistently getting rounded on by their server. Finding out this was a family run small business made this even more impressive as it was a full house. Additionally, it felt like the entire bar was excitedly watching the FIFA game, which was surprising because the difference in noise level from the outside of the building was significant. From the bar perspective, the bartenders were so kind (A), provided short/sweet conversation and excellent recommendations (A+), AND gave us time to look over the menu without being pushy (A++). I tried the lavender buzz and the oso espresso martini, my girlfriend had a lavender lemonade seltzer both being DELICIOUS. We Comfortable chairs, bathrooms and business were clean, and water is available at any time by the door with a self serve station. Overall, great spot, amazing staff, great variety of beers and seltzers, the pizzas are killer, the nachos were perfect, cocktails were a hit, great space for watching a game or hosting a group apparently, and even better for a date night! Stoked to have a place like The Bear Trap in Big Bear. Already planning our next trip. read more

The Bear Trap just opened earlier this year and it seems to be a great addition. The establishment, which is modern and very cool, features both indoor and outdoor spaces; the latter having some lake views. I was in town with a buddy last month and we had stopped in a couple times while staying nearby. We had a nice time and enjoyed the outside patio! Food wise the menu is made up of various shared and small bites (chips and salsa, nachos, wings etc), smash burgers, pizzas and salads. They also have a full bar serving beers (draft/cans/bottled), wines, and various cocktails. We enjoyed the food and some great hazy IPAs. Drink: Bear Trap Hazy - Refreshing, flavorful, good citrus and smoothness to it. Food: The Garlic Ness Bread Monster - Mozzarella, provolone, garlic butter, pesto, house marinara. This thing in fact was a monster and very filling; loved the pesto drizzle and the cheesy-ness. I thought the marinara for dipping tasted good as well. Bear Trap Nachos - Nacho cheese, jalapenos, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, choice of chicken or steak. The nachos were huge, good amount of ingredients. The service was great, employees we spoke to were nice and owner Miguel and his family (it's a family affair here) are so great. The parking situation is easy as there is a good sized lot. Just stopped in for a quick drink and snacks after walking around Big Bear Lake. This place had the most friendly staff, great food and an impressive selection of beers on Tap! Steven (one of the owners I believe) took the time to chat with us for a bit and told us about the different selections of beers they acquire from different breweries. The atmosphere paired with the beautiful weather and view of the lake will make this a permanent "must stop" whenever we're in the area. If you're looking for a spot just a bit further away from all the crowds and tourists this is your place! Thanks to TBT & Steven, we had a great time! read more

We've been to big bear several times and always try to try new places and this one might have been my favorite from the last 4 years we've been visiting. Service was a little slow, but the food and drinks were GREAT. Dog friendly patio. read more

Loving this new place...it's literally almost next door to my cabin! I wish they were open every day. We ate there on Sunday, and it was packed, and the food was delicious, and the selection of craft beers is awesome....BUT..it took over 30 minutes to get our food (after waiting 10 minutes for a table...and when we got in...there were several empty tables). Anyway...chalk it up to understaffed the week of Thanksgiving? The employees were all super friendly, and the grub was great. Also like that they have the games to play (scrabble etc.)...which helped make the wait less of an annoyance. Went back on Wednesday (when I thought they were closed), and enjoyed another lunch. Good stuff. I hope they stay Super busy. read more
This was our 3rd stop in Big Bear in our search for a good beer. 3rd time was definitely a charm! This place is full of kind people and good vibes! The beer selection is super on point so if you know good beer, you will definitely appreciate this place even more! I'll never go back to any other brew spots when I'm in big bear! Can't say enough about Steven and Aida. I have been to TBT twice with our pup. The service is fantastic and you can't beat the beers. We spent a while talking to Steven on a slow day, and he and his brother hand select every beer they have there. Even though I came back 3 weeks later, the beers have completely changed. Their salsa is homemade every day and I look forward to going back!! read more

Delicious! Food was amazing, Meat sweats pizza, Spice Mountain pizza, wings and Garlic Parmesan Fries. All of it was so good! Beers were on point and Steven picked our beers for us and amazed us with his selections. So dang good, I almost don't want to give a great review because it's gonna be packed the next time we can visit! Great team of staff here. We happened to go on their 1 yr anniversary. Not knowing what we were getting into we had no expectations. They were highly receptive with us sitting right away and having amazing service. The OG smash burger was AMAZING in its own right. I added back and the chop it up so that you have bacon in every bite and one bite won't rob you of an entire strip. The Tots are crispy and the fries perfectly seasoned. Even the beer choices and the ability to get 5 oz to create your own flight is great. Will definitely be coming back again on my next trip to Big Bear. read more

The Bear Trap is an awesome local spot for food/beer, great vibes, and super friendly staff! They are super dog friendly and allow dogs inside as well as on the patio. They even went above and beyond and offered to make our dog a puppy patty which she absolutely loved. The chicken nachos and boneless wings were delicious and the nachos were huge. The Bear Trap Hazy IPA was amazing as well, super smooth and full of flavor. The inside is really well decorated and had a cool modern cabin vibe. 12/10 would highly recommend coming to check out this spot!! read more
