    Cheesy garlic bread
    Evette R.

Had a nice visit at La Pergola Trattoria. I ordered the chicken piccata -- it was good and very filling. We also shared the fresh bruschetta and cheesy garlic bread, which were both delicious and perfect for sharing. They're dog-friendly, which was a huge plus. My Stella came with me and, as always, was a total lady. I'm incredibly thankful she's my ESA because my anxiety was definitely overloaded with the extremely rowdy kids seated next to us, playing with silverware like swords. Having her there helped keep me calm. The food did take a bit longer to arrive, but overall it was a pleasant experience with good food and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd come back again.

Came here for our 16 year anniversary. Food and services was great. We split the artichoke and bruschetta. We enjoyed the atmosphere.

Stopped here for Mother's Day lunch! The food was amazing! Starting with 2 speciality drinks, calamari as an appetizer and shrimp scampi and chicken Alfredo. The sauce in the Alfredo was to die for. The shrimp scampi was a generous portion with left over of both meals. The waiter Donald was very attentive and very accommodating. Highly recommend and will be back again!

Inside is quite lovely, and there's a beautiful outside patio which allows leashed dogs. Food was very delicious, we ordered the yummy homemade focaccia with a tasty herb dipping oil, caprese salad with a side of shrimp, and my boy toy got the pasta bolognese which he said was excellent. Service was attentive and friendly, would return!

It was good food and waiter was nice, Love it and it gives an italian vibe, 100 percent recommended.

On a weekend trip to Big Bear with our friends this was our first stop after a three hour drive. We were hungryyyyyy. We started with two Caesar salads which were very delicious. Yummm. Then we ordered one Margherita pizza and one pepperoni pizza both well done. It was so crispy and perfectly done. We devoured it. Will go back just to eat the pepperoni pizza again. My favorite here. Customer service was welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. Lots of cozy indoor seating and patio seating. Fire pits outside, will be great in the spring and summer. Too cold for winter months. Overall a wonderful place to dine at while in Big Bear.

Accommodating large parties is not their strong suit. I don't know if they take reservations, but we didn't have one. For a Saturday in December with a group of 17, that was a challenge. We were invited to sit and enjoy appetizers in the front area until a table was ready for us. We divided ourselves up between four tables. Two of the tables (one of which I was at) never received our drinks or shared appetizers in the 25 minutes that we sat waiting. I ordered a bottled beer. Someone else ordered a hot water with lemon. Granted, one of the other drinks at our table was a cocktail... but that's quite a wait for drinks. I know the server was trying -- it is tough with large groups. When one of the ladies at our table complained about her soup (which was her meal -- she didn't order anything else), the server told her that "it's fine, it's included with your meal anyway." (Well, no... she was still charged $8 or whatever since she didn't get a meal... and she actually didn't touch the soup.) That being said - I really loved my soup that came with my meal! The soup was the best part. I misread the description of my pasta on the menu, so I was a little disappointed, but nevertheless, it was OK. No one in my group "loved" their meal -- everything was just fine. I think we were so hyped up and were really looking forward to Italian that we were a little let down. I will give La Pergola another try when we're back on the mountain, perhaps just with my husband and I. Large groups can certainly be tough! 2024: 100/100

At first, I was a bit leery of dining here because of bad reviews on yelp but decided to give it a shot. Very pleased I did! Beautiful interior & exterior! I chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and the patio is stunning. Serene waterfall against the back wall was a really nice touch as well as the flowing drapes and nice marble table tops with very comfortable cushion seats. Nice quality paper napkins as well. My server was Donald and he was very, very attentive and knowledgeable. A nice affable gentleman. I started with a nice glass of red unshackled prisoner wine and it was just lovely. Nice and dry with some lovely tannins. I then had the steamed artichoke and it was the best I have ever had. The gremolata they pour over it was loaded in lovely fresh herbs and garlic , and the side serving sauce of lemon mayonnaise was out of this world. I had to take a little container of it home. And then I went on to the chicken piccata, but did not want the pasta as a bed so I chose the seasoned vegetables and they were lovely. I love garlic and everything had just a right amount of it! Chicken was tender. Even the little side insalata misto was perfection. Just the right amount of light zesty vinaigrette with some Kalamata olives and a lot of shaved Parmesan. Prices are not inexpensive, but you get some really flavorful tasty unctuous dishes with decent portions and a lovely atmosphere and fabulous service. So sometimes you get where you pay for. My only complaint is that 3% charge for using a credit card. I almost reduced my tip for my server to 17% because of that but decided against it because he was fabulous. Come on! Highly recommend.

We decided to stop by and try their pizza, it is amazing!! We also had the caprese salad and the bruscetta. It was all delicious, the bruscetta came with burrata which was great! But it wasn't bruscetta, it was sliced cheery tomatoes large garlic cloves some bread and the cheese, now it was super yummy but not traditional bruscetta. Service was great and our waitress was attentive.

Relatively short wait (15min) on a Saturday night. The food is actually not bad, the pastas were good (a little salty), the soup of the day was a hearty meatball and minestrone soup with lots of vegetables in it. We had the papparadelle, and the pasta was al dente. The pizza was actually the best part, the crust was deliciously crispy, toppings were good, and so much better than Saucy Mama's down the street that we had the night before. The staff was attentive but felt like they were rushing quite a bit. Inside is super cute and cozy. Pricing is a bit more but the vibe is more of a date night worthy spot.

Doesn't allow orders over the phone or to go orders for pasta. I would recommend any other restaurant in the area, including McDonald's.

Fettuccine Alfredo had no flavor - none, the chicken piccata was oddly sweet, our server disappeared - never saw her again, and the other 2 servers were busy with the 2 other couples so we had looooong wait times. The decor is brown. That's it, just brown, well, with some random "Americana" stuff thrown in at the booths. The women's bathroom had toilet seat cover boxes but they were both empty and 2 paper towel machines but only 1 worked. The men's bathroom, apparently, was dirty and the 2 urinals were both covered with trash bags. 1 order of Fettuccine Alfredo (no protein), 1 order of Chicken Piccata, and 1 root beer - $59. What?! Don't go. Ever.

Patty greeted us when we came in the door and said we could sit wherever we wanted. She was lovely, very attentive and helpful. Her sister owns the place. She even gave us scads of recommendations for other local places to try and things to do. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else. I decided against that (because the scallops themselves were stellar) but I agreed to some extra Alfredo sauce to mellow out the flavors in the pasta, which worked great! When she learned it was our anniversary, Patty gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house the likes of which I have never tasted before. I don't order cheesecake often, but this was beautifully creamy and sweet. If you want to support local businesses, I highly recommend Jakobe's. They're good people who cook great food and care about their community. SUPPORT LOCAL! DON'T LET THE CHAINS WIN!

My last review I gave them a five out of five and this time if I can give them a 10 out of 10, I definitely would. The restaurant had a fair amount of people in it when we walked in. We were promptly greeted given some menus and told we could find a seat and when we were ready to order come back to the counter. At her seats, we looked over our menu and decided what we want, and I went back to the counter to order. The young lady who took my order was just delightful. She was very friendly and asked some clarifying questions about what we were ordering gave me a number and our cups and the transaction was made. When we sat down, we came back up to get our drinks, and there was a young man at the drink station who was very polite willing to help with anything we needed. We went back and sat down after a few minutes. Our pizza was delivered by the same young man. He was very attentive asking if we needed anything. And went back to the front of the drink station. He immediately bust and clean tables as they became available and checked on people periodically. There was another young man there with him. Both of them were extremely polite and professional with all of the guests. The service is out of this world. We had our pizza and it is amazing. There is a huge difference between pizza cooked and a pizza oven and pizza cooked on a conveyor belt. The pizza had a crisp bottom crust which always sets pizza apart. The crust was amazing and the toppings were abundant. The wife ordered a salad, which was your typical run of the meal salad for a pizza place. The food was outstanding. We will definitely make this a stop when we're up here. Can't wait to bring the grandkids.

There were a a handful of people waiting to be seated when we arrived and the couple before us were seated at the last outdoor patio table available. The hostess told us that we could go upstairs to the bar area and sit anywhere we wanted and a server would be with us directly. So that's what we did. As a side note, the whole vibe of the restaurant was very comfortable and the building itself is pretty remarkable. Water and menus were delivered within minutes of us selecting our table, and our waitress Victoria maintained that same level of attentiveness the whole time we were there. The biggest shortcoming of so many restaurants in and around Big Bear is the bar and their specialty drinks. But this place just slam dunked on every other restaurant we've ever tried over the years - and not just for the drinks. I love a good old fashioned but until last night, every place I'd been to served their old fashioned in a glass full of ice like I was getting a soda at a fast food drive through. Not here. A proper big block ice cube made the "Maple old fashioned" (hands down) the best drink I've ever had. (I think they've got like 7 or 8 different varieties of the old fashioned and I will definitely be back to try them.) Our potato skins appetizer was on another level and that was before our entrees even arrived. My beef dip sandwich was perfect as was wifey's chicken Scaloppini. The timing of food arriving and the periodic check-ins from our waitress was flawless. We spoke briefly with the bartender, Doug (who may or may not have been one of the owners) to express how much we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The hallmark of a well-run restaurant is that everyone who works there conducts themselves like it's their name on the sign out front. That's exactly what we got from everyone involved. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen staff deserves a Michelin star rating. The rest of the staff is equally impressive. I can't say enough about this place. Excellent drinks, excellent food and dynamite service. If you want a top-notch dining experience in Big Bear, this should be your first and only choice. From now on, it'll be mine.
