De La Nonna was one of the highlights of our Big Bear trip. The views are spectacular, and the outdoor setup is perfect for the mountains. The igloos are a great option when the temperature drops at night, and there are plenty of larger seating areas around the fire pits for families and groups. The customer service was excellent from start to finish, before, during, and after our meal. Everyone made us feel welcome. The menu is simple, but everything we tried was delicious. We especially enjoyed the crispy pepperoni pizza and the Italian sandwich. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed, and family-friendly. Having a nearby sauna was a nice bonus after a day outdoors. My kids and I tried coming here when it wasn't crowded and were told they didn't take walk-ins. This made no sense to me as the only places I've been that don't take walk-ins are high end omakase or Michelin establishments. My kids and I are mixed race, and although I'm not exactly claiming racism, I had my suspicions. The next day I called just to see if they take walk-ins, and sure enough the person over the phone told me yes, of course they take walkins. I've never been turned away from an establishment with such a weak and lame obvious lie before. Next time at least try harder with the lies. read more

PRO TIP: Book a pool day pass at the attached Marina Riviera hotel, and enjoy leisurely cocktails on the De La Nonna bar deck. The atmosphere is unmatched! My girlfriends and I bought day passes at Marina Riviera Hotel (on property) and spent much of it on the deck at De La Nonna, which is on property and just above the pool and has a deck with lots of sofas that overlook the lake. We enjoyed leisurely appetizers and cocktails on the deck and eventually made our way down to the pool, cold plunge, and 2 saunas. We got refreshed with more cocktails from DeLa Nonna bar that we enjoyed in plastic glasses by the pool. Then enjoyed dinner back upstairs a few hours later. Cocktails are fabulous!!! During my family trip to Big Bear we decided to eat at De La Nona. We wanted to eat somewhere that offered outdoor seating with great views. We had the pleasure of being served by Kendal, who brought a sweet amazing energy to our dining experience. She was not only sweet but also very knowledgeable, recommending some fantastic dishes and local spots in the area to explore. We started with the Margherita pizza topped with olive oil, fresh basil, and mozzarella. It was a delicious at $18. The Burrata with focaccia ($16), complemented by pesto and chopped giardiniera, was rich and flavorful. We also enjoyed the Crudité, priced at $7, which was a crisp and refreshing. For drinks, my group ordered the Espresso Martini, which was perfectly crafted, alongside a refreshing Peroni. We also sampled the non-alcoholic Ghia Classic Margarita and the classic Margarita, both of which were delicious and refreshing. One of the highlights of our visit was the breathtaking outdoor seating that offered incredible views. We will be returning on our next trip to Big Bear. Highly recommended! read more

We saw good reviews on Yelp and decided to try this place. When we arrived at the front entrance of this restaurant, a sign was posted "Please wait to be seated". We waited quite a few minutes and no one came up. My husband went in to the restaurant to look for someone. We were told to come in and seat ourselves. Finally we were given water and menus. This was not your typical pizza place. The menu was very limited. The size of the pizzas were small. It's approximately 8 x 4 inches. Rectangular shape. It's more of an individual serving size. We ordered the following: pepperoni pizza $21 white pizza $18 Sicilian (vegan) pizza $17 and a chopped salad $16 The pizzas were not the type of pizzas I am accustomed to. The crust tasted more like focaccia bread than pizza dough. The dough was kind of hard and somewhat crunchy. I did not liked the texture of the dough. There was also not enough toppings, sauce or cheese on the pizza. Although the flavor was good, I did not cared too much for this pizza. For the price of the items, I expected the portions to be larger. Even the salad was rather small. The thing I liked best about this restaurant is the view. If you sit outside, you can get a nice view of the lake while you eat. An interesting thing about this place is that there were many cliff swallow nests under the eaves of the building. You can see the swallows flying in and out of their nests. Word of caution: Be careful of bird droppings. read more

After a day of hiking and chores around the house we decided to check out De La Nona at the newish Marina Hotel in town. The restaurant has a huge deck with wonderful views of the lake and the marina and had a lot of staff running around making sure the drinks are filled and food comes fast. We decided to split a chopped salad and a pepperoni pizza. The salad was super tasty and surprisingly large. More than enough for two people. It had beans, pepperoni, peppers, and a delicious vinaigrette. The pizza was doughy with a good crisp. It was a good size for two to share after the salad. It's probably the amount of pizza you should eat yourself hahaha. The view was great and the staff was friendly. The servers were fast, efficient, and friendly. Do not order the espresso martini. It's not good. The eggplant dip also didn't taste like eggplant at all. That was disappointing. BUT the pizzas were sooooo good! We ordered all of them! We loved it all! We loved the bread, especially when they're freshly out of the oven. The service was delightful, Denise was so kind and attentive! It was our first time here and she gave us a whole run down on the menu which helped a lot with ordering for our party. These plates were more than enough for 5 people. However, the service felt a bit overwhelming--there were too many staff checking on us constantly. Found De La Nonna on Yelp (of course!) because we were looking for a place that had happy hour or at least good cocktails. I didn't realize it was connected to a hotel, but the signage at the front of the building made it easy to find. There was a large parking lot at the front of the hotel, which sits right at the lake. It was early evening so there was plenty of light and not very cold yet. The hostess seated us outside where there were many picnic type tables, lounge seating around a fire pit and these cute igloo tents that had various types of chairs/couches inside. There were 2 of us and we got seated at one of the igloos and that was so fun! The view is a little obstructed due to the vinyl but its pretty clear and you don't get as cold. We were helped by at least 4 of their team members - a nice warm welcome from everyone. They really excel at customer service here. We were given a bottle of water and two pretty glasses once we sat down and our server came over to explain the options. The drinks are great and they have actual fresh squeezed grapefruit juice - score!!! We had a margarita and a paloma and both were so tasty and just strong enough. What a great night! The patio vibe, we did the igloo was awesome. Service was fast and food was delicious. We got the white pizza, pepperoni pizza, whipped eggplant, crispy fingerlings and chopped salad. All pizza is on their fresh thick focaccia and the toppings are fresh and delicious. Pepperoni is crispy like I like and their pizza sauce is super fresh. My husband got the white pizza since he was meat free that night and it was fabulous (even for a carnivore like me) the fennel fronds on top were a great addition to the cooked fennel, potato and pesto, highly recommend! Fingerling potatoes were simple and delicious, would have loved some kind of dipping sauce, even if that pizza sauce. The chopped salad was heavily dressed but perfect alongside the thick crust pizza. Most of an accompaniment than a pre salad course. The best was the whipped eggplant. I maybe partial since I have several in my garden and excited to try to replicate but the light consistency achieved on this was amazing! Not too spicy and perfect with the homemade focaccia. Our first night in Big Bear we checked into Hotel Marina Riviera and walked downstairs for dinner. That's where De La Nonna is located. It's a focaccia-style pizza restaurant that originally started in LA's Arts District. The Big Bear location sits inside the hotel overlooking the lake. My boyfriend and I ordered the Nonna pack with the pepperoni pizza, the white pizza, and a Caesar salad. The pizzas come in thick square slices with crispy edges. The pepperoni pizza was warm and cheesy with tomato sauce, and the white pizza had potato, fennel, and mozzarella layered together. Both were really delicious. The dining room was busy with very high ceilings and booth seating along the walls. Many tables were sharing pizzas and drinks from the bar. Our server Kyndal was very kind and funny. She checked on our table often making sure we were comfortable and happy. The next morning we returned for breakfast and sat in one of the heated igloos on the patio balcony overlooking the lake. They have blankets and the clear domes have heaters inside so it stays very warm even in the cold. We had coffee at the table while looking out at the mountains and the water below. There are stairs from the patio if you want to walk closer to the lake. Dinner the first night and breakfast the next morning in the igloos made the stay feel really special. Memorial Day weekend 2026 for an early lunch around 11:30am. First off, the views, vibe, and atmosphere were excellent. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. Not unfriendly just average. We had to ask for soda refills. We shared the fingerling potatoes and the Italian hero sandwich. The potatoes were basically smashed and sprinkled with Parmesan and dumped into a plain white bowl. Weird presentation for the price. The sandwich was ok. Nothing bad to say just ok. The patio has a beautiful view of the lake, with an awning and umbrellas to shade you from the sun. The dining room is equally as quaint. Our first visit was for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was unsuspectingly delicious. Spinach cooked perfectly, cheesy egg, dang. The fried eggplant sandwich is where it's at, perfectly balanced. Calabrian aioli, fresh basil, dressed cucumbers and fennel.. we had it twice. Cocktails are just as great. Their restroom is beautiful, clean, and stocked with Aesop soap & lotion. I appreciate that they're not refilled with generic garbage. We've been visiting for Big Bear for years. This is the most consistent and delicious food in Big Bear by far. Run don't walk. The food itself was amazing, but the service really missed the mark. My significant other and I came here for a date night and ordered happy hour drinks, a marg pizza, and a chopped salad. We repeatedly heard the kitchen staff ringing their bell and calling out for help, but no servers came to assist. Our server greeted us promptly, but disappeared after taking our order. Eventually, the kitchen staff had to bring our food themselves after asking multiple times for server help with no response. They even checked on us afterward and cleared our table once we finished our pizza. The pizza itself was delicious - thick, fluffy focaccia bread and full of flavor. Unfortunately, it seemed like our server never put in the chopped salad we ordered. After finishing our pizza and drinks and waiting for our server to return (once our table had already been cleared), we decided we no longer wanted the salad. We closed our tab and left to grab food elsewhere. Great food, but the lack of attentive service really took away from the experience. I must add that the kitchen was very attentive and kind! One negative is that there are a lot of gnats on the patio seating, which can be annoying - just an FYI. I am not a beer person but my husband is. Upon sipping his beer he mentioned that it was crisp and excellent. The pizza is obviously the star of the place. I would describe it as a focaccia style bread with sauce, cheese, and your choice or toppings. I got the MARG pizza and opted to make it Nonna style. Upon arriving I thought it seemed a little small but it was definitely so filling. This pizza is so crunchy as you bite it but so soft as soon as you chew it. The texture is truly what won me over and what I think about till this day. My husband had the pepperoni and he loved the style and taste of pepperoni - he said it was crispy and crunchy. Food: I ordered the pepperoni pizza & added hot honey for extra charge. The pizza is made with focaccia bread. Honestly.. it was too much bread for me. The pizza comes in a rectangle and cut to 4 pieces. After eating 1.5 slices I was stuffed. Taste wise, it was ok. It lacked flavor, for my liking. And also it was on the soggy side. We had our dogs and it was perfect to have them off leash and just enjoying the space . Of course make sure your dog is well Behaved and your golden. Food was delicious... get your pizzas nonna style all day every day!!! To got the pepperoni pizza with the spicy honey and ranch and it was pretty's good. I got their Hot toddy and I was just happy they got the memo that hot camp like alcoholic drinks were the way to go!!! Spiked hot cider and hot chocolate... the margarita pizza was also very delicious. I would say get something going with mushrooms and I'll take that too!!! Lastly the Tiramisu... was perfect. It actually reminded me and my wife of when we went to Italy and took. Cooking class and made homemade tiramisu. It was equally delicious!!!! Overall you're doing it right.. some of the restaurants in big bear surprisingly don't have heat lamps. It may sound cliché, but this experience was the true definition of a hidden gem. In our last night in Big Bear, we wanted to eat out. A quick search and we found De La Nonna which is located next to a hotel. When calling ahead, the hostess was very kind and helpful with what seemed like limited indoor seating. She happily explained that they ever accepting walk in parties of four and that it would be ok to bring our dog with us. When we arrived, we were greeted by such gracious hospitality and a really magical setting...outdoor lighted igloos. Warm and cozy with Christmas music playing in a unique private space. Service was fantastic. Food was delicious. We have not been this impressed in quite some time. What a find and hidden gem! Special shout out to Trinity, who is a server-in-training, but could have fooled us. She was attentive and very friendly. This is an extremely cool place to go to in Big Bear. The venue is awesome, so many places to hang out and the outdoor deck is epic. Those bubble pods are a blast and we were there during that last big snow storm. We were warm and it was fun to have dinner outside, overlooking the lake. Food there is delicious. My only gripe is the pizzas are so small. And the menu selection was a little limited. Also, it is headed toward fancy and upscale, but they use paper plates and plastic cutlery. Please note the local beers on tap were all excellent. I spoke with many of the staff and they are building out the deck with even more features. Cannot wait to see where they go with it. Parking for us was difficult. Not sure how they are going to fix that as people are going to continue coming here. We had to create our own parking space, as did many others. If the snow was not in such an abundance maybe it would be a better situation. And on a positive note, it's one of the most unique spots in Big Bear for dining and drinks, and we will go there every time we climb that mountain. Came in for breakfast and ended up staying 5 hours. Tim at the bar was amazing. He made so many delicious cocktails. I highly recommend the raspberry cheesecake lemon drop drink. The food was fabulous. For breakfast I we had the breakfast sandwhich (that reminded me of a sandwhich place we ate at in Barcelona). So delicious. The potato wedges were perfectly cooked with the right amount of crisp. All the staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable.
