I said I wanted to get some items turned in and he quickly said he only takes gold watches. I thought Saul's loan and jewelry would include more jewelry than just a gold watch. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF I'm surprised it's lasted this long in business. Go figure why it only has one or two employees working there I remember this place in the '90s early 2000s The working staff here was huge. It had so many employees this used to be the place, their shelves were stocked. They had rows of stuff, guns, hunting equipment, music equipment, video games, you name it. It was fun just to walk in and look at the place but throughout the years they have lost their touch. You walk in and it's like a used tool store. All they sell is used dirty scratched up tools and a bunch of outdated BS saul's you guys need to GTFO of Town pls.... they give no bargains nore loans or deals here I give this place three thumbs down. I remember when the PS5 first came out I brought it in for a (loan). They told me that they could get these on eBay for a hundred bucks so they denied my loan. I happened to look over in one of their corner counters only to find that they had a PS3 and some lame no good name PS4 games in the counter and I wondered how did they do that loan and not mine knowing that it's a PS5 console released that same year I was confused and frustrated that they would use eBay to make me believe that the PS5 that I had just bought that year was worth a hundred bucks on line I was blown away by their lack of salesmanship I took my PS5 to another pawn shop and I immediately got a $300 loan. No questions Asked. about a month and a half later I went back and got my PS5 back. Thank you to that pawn shop up the street. You certainly helped me out during rough times unlike these guys. The last and recent time I went here and for sure the last I'll ever be in their was when I tried to pawn some gold and guess what they hit me with, first thing they told me is that we have to charge you for checking and testing the gold with their acid. They scratch your gold and pretty much damage it by doing so when they scratch on that test plate and they drop acid on their which gives you the carrots of what your gold is. I was baffled blown away by what they told me saying that they would charge $3 bucks for every gold piece I needed to check. I've never once in my life or ever been told by a pawn shop that they have to charge me for testing my gold I've been pawning gold and dealing with pawn shops for ages for years now and this is the first place and the first time I've ever heard of such thing SMH, again take your gold your products elsewhere. You're most likely to find a better deals elsewhere. The day I walked in to trade in my gold I walked right back out with no cash in hand. It made me think. for example say you're in need of cash (your broke that day) and You walk in with a gold chain that you want to loan or pawn and if it turns out that it's not real gold, guess what you now owe them $3 bucks. I first looked at their rings for sale before selling mine to see how much they could give me. The man who gave me a quote was more than fair and he explained how he came to this offer based on gold weight, stone size and resale value in their store. It was an easy transaction. There is a couple things one of them is that older gentleman with glasses he always takes advantage of people and I have seen it. He's done it to me. He always low balls you on whenever you're trying to pawn just because people are in need doesn't mean you could take advantage. I had previously pond and Equipment and I had received $85 today. I went in and he offered me $45 that that was a Max he could give me that he would have to call his manager, which is total BS and then I told him that I had previously pond it And he looked it up and he said oh yeah we gave you 85 so I told him so where do you come up with 45 when I got 85 he's out if you had to told me that since the beginning, we could avoid this I said no I wanted to see what you would come up with, but like I said you always take a manage of all these people that is not fair. That guy never has given any fair prices. I know the owner needs to be make money, but this guy robs customers out of their money. I think that is unethical because regardless the Pawn Shop is making more than enough money Because if you take a brand new item and the item is worth $500 they will give you 1/3 of what is worth so they would give you $150 for an item that is worth $500 inbox New I just think that is outrageous Because they are making $350 in profit when sometimes people just need a week to get caught up on their bills, and like I said specifically, this one person I have run into several times and he always does this and he always has an attitude when I was there even the lady behind me was warning the other customers to be very careful with this guy because he always Low balls you on the price the manager needs to look into this because it's gonna affect his business I've been doing business here for over five years. The other people there are there Carlos Juan they are all very good people and they're very fair but this guy that is there after hours Always does this because since it's over hours, he knows people need money and will accept any amount of money he offers that is very wrong. I am going to talk to manager Juan about this because I believe this to be unjust. I took in an impact drill that I paid 450+ taxes which came out to $500 brand new this dude offered me $40 I told him you give me the prize supposedly for the gun by itself but I have an 18 V lithium battery with the charger a dual charger that is worth more than the gun and you offer me an extra $20 so you offer me $60 When I'm previously got $85 because that's all that I needed when I should at least got it $140-$160 for that impact drill with that 18 V lithium battery and charger. The battery by itself is worth $150 Where in the world does this make sense the next time I'm gonna bring the charger and the battery that is worth $250 and get $80 for $100 for a loan and then do the gun separate and get an extra 60 $80 You see where I'm getting it And by the way people the date that that receipt expires, you still have 10 days after the due date to pay for your equipment to get it back or to just pay the interest. Remember that cause a lot of people don't know this and they think they lose it because they don't tell you this, but if you see on your receipt and it says the date that it expires from that day forward it is legal for them to hold your equipment for 10 days after your receipt expires and within those 10 days, they cannot sell it. They need to hold it for you but you have 10 days after the receipt expires it's by law And they take advantage of this because a lot of people are ignorant so please be careful. I'm not saying everybody there is bad. I've had a lot of good experiences throughout the years, but there's always one rotten apple that kills it for everybody else so just giving us a little bit of information. Hope it helps but I hope they get rid of that old man because he is the rotten apple the rest of the employees are very awesome. I have nothing bad to say about these people. It is just that guy and I don't know why but he always has it out for me and it's because I think I always call him out on his bullshit. BEWARE! Sketchy business. Saul's Pawn shop does not let you redeem your property after certain hours. I asked if I can pay to take out my item and arrange to be picked up the next day. They said NO! Their pawn contract states that you can redeem your item at ANY TIME even during the 10 day grace period. But they added their own terms at the very end of the contract, contradicting what states in the Redemption section of the contract. SKETCHY. So I was forced to pay just the interest to renew the contract resulting in paying more in interest to take out the item. This business is NOT understanding and is not willing to work with you. I never knew there was a place to write a review. I got totally screwed once by these guys. I had a Taylor 814 ce I loved this thing. I lost my job and had to borrow on it. I took it to these guys. It is an $3500 dollar instrument. They only loaned me less than 200. I went to get it the last day It was due and they were closed. I was so worried I was there the next morning before they opened . I was told it was gone and I had lost it that the owner had come and took it. I was so heart broken. They got my Taylor for less than 2oo dollars. They didnt give one F how bad I was hurt or upset. to this day I havent been able to get over the loss of that axe. be careful these guys dont have a heart. the store was closed the night before and the veynext morning they f ed me hard. Immediately upon walking in we were immediately profiled as stupid white people who had stolen everything in our arms. We were told to walk to the back of the store- "the front" as it was called. The gentleman who served us, was slow to get to us, and quick to send us on our way. I had my workspace equipment including a 160 dollar piano "that wasn't professional enough, my three keyboards, 16 still in plastic blockbusters, including get out (hahahah you guys suck!), a Mac mini (2017),and a iMac! I used these to edit and work at a company that no longer exists! My partner even had some precious jewelry that was immediately chided off as "we only buy gold". Despite having multiple silver rings, and chains. The precious jewelry was pearls, genuine and had a proof of purchase paper. But yeah only gold and not professional enough. Don't go here. They have two yelp pages and both will receive this review because of these parasites that cling to the underside of Oxnard. It's always empty for a reason, don't go to sauls. Pawn ticket # LT-THP038996 Over the years I have pawned many of things items at Saul's and have always pick up everything on time. So in the fall of 2019 when I had to pawn my guitar I felt secure. This guitar was given to me by the man who raised me the day before his death in 1990. In October 2019 I received a call explaining to me that help was needed in another state with a person who was dying it was the brother of the person who gave me the guitar 30 years before. I expected to be back by December therefore I felt secure in leaving my guitar in the pawn shop. Unfortunately when I saw that this episode was going to last longer I called Saul's and asked if there was any thing that could be done. I asked if Icould send them the money to cover the cost they said no there had to be somebody there in person with the pawn ticket . I knew nobody in Oxnard and I was a thousand miles away tending to somebody who was dying surely they can figure out a way to help me and work with me I mean all that takes the money. I called several times always trying to get a hold of the owner who I hoped would help me with this. Since the ownr always seemed to be out I only had access to a clerk, the same person who several times I called. When asked what can I do his reply was always the same, "I can't take any money over the phone somebody has to be here in person it says so on your contract but I will try to put it aside for you when are you coming in I said it'll be maybe 60 days. Well it took a little bit longer the person finally died and I drove the 1,000 miles back to Oxnard hoping to see that they had set my guitar aside as they led me to believe but unfortunately what I was told was misleading as they did not. They were so hungry for money they sold my father's guitar. There are other pawn shops that are much better then this one and they take credit card payments over the phone and even set aside items for a brief period after the expired date. For the following reasons I give Soul's a 1 star and if I could give them lower I would. Lack of keeping up with current times where we now use credit cards over the phone. Lack of empathy for the people the business serves. Greed Conducting business but using misleading client, E.g. "I'm sure it will be there when you get in here I'll put it aside if I can." as told to me by the person I spoke to on the phone.
