Recommended by my sister to go their, and of course the nostalgia of all the commercials I saw growing up... so I came in because one of the diamonds in my ring was loose, and they took me right away even though I did not have an appointment. They inspected the ring, tightened the prongs, and made sure everything was secure. I do not know if this service is always free, but they did it for free for me today, which was awesome. Paid 1600 to have my diamonds turned into earrings. Brought my certification gia from blue Nile to double check that I indeed get back the same stones I dropped off. Seven people in the shop and not one could help me with a loop or whatever. I'm trying to be cool but my tension rose. I've had my diamonds switched before by a jeweler that was in Ventura years ago ANYWAYS. I'm trying to be cool and say do you have a diamond tester machine? It registered diamond but I noticed that the machine clearly says diamond/moissanite on the machine. I asked for another test and the diamond "pen" registered it as moissanite also. The jewelers that were working both said they think it's diamond that I shouldn't be worried about anything. My sales associate suggested I come back again and talk to Robert and he will help me look at my new earrings to make sure everything is ok. What about this is even normal? No human or technology could put me at ease that my earrings /diamonds were in fact mine??? Normally I would just refer to the laser engraving on the girdle of the stone but I chose a bezel setting and it covers it. This shouldn't happen, this is literally their job. After ordering my engagement ring, along with 3 wedding bands, my fiancée's wedding band was never made. We went to pick up our rings and, when they opened the envelope, it was the wrong ring. We were then told that there was a mixup and his ring will be shipped to our house over the weekend... Guess what?? It never came. We called them and asked for an answer and received nothing but an excuse and nasty, unhelpful attitude. They offered to send us a different ring with no discount. My husband took me there for a gift 20 years ago he proposed there. We bought our wedding sets there when Mr.Thompson was alive the sales lady was so nice and Mr. Thompson was so helpful with the diamond purchase. No one looked at us like we did not belong. They were so very nice we bought several things there. We went back recently for my diamonds to be cleaned and prongs inspected ( we were told to always bring it there for cleaning and inspection). For some strange reason they did not have us in there system, they had to set up new account. We always come with our purchase receipt and cleaning paperwork. A lady asked "did the buy anything here" the other lady said yes then her tone changed. I felt because I was not wearing Prada or Channel or we did not look the part of the clientele that looks very wealthy they did not want to spend any time with us. Bummer the new lab-grown diamonds have killed the market; the ring is worth 1/4 of what it used to be, but it was never intended to be sold again anyway. If you want to buy now, I'm sure they still have deals, and your money will go much further now than it did years ago. I think they make most of their money in the gold business now. I wanted to get something nice I have a card with synchrony credit and as I applied for there with synchrony and it did not go through when I already have a crefit with synchrony that was disappointing but the other thing is that I feel that they should have other finance options the sales person that I dealt with was more interested in another customer that came in and as she was talking to me, she kept on staring at the other salesperson with that customer as to get her attention when I was in front of her and she should've put her efforts into me. It almost seemed like two sales people fighting for a commission. Kathleen all your doing is targeting the credit but you did not address the poor unprofessional service i received, as far as credit is concerned i own a business and for my customers i have 5 different credit options my approval rate so far is 99% to accommodate my customers needs. I went in to add stones to my wedding ring, have it remade in white gold, and resized. Mr. Thompson got involved when I was asking to have diamonds added. What I didn't learn until much later is that the diamonds he added were of lesser quality, and not a color match. The gal that began with me had pulled diamonds out. We had him add the diamond to our engagement setting, it was put in crooked, and then they "filed/melted" or whatever they do.. they made my ring band thickness way thinner also- without me asking for that. I was super bummed out, because I actually liked the thicker, sturdier bottom of the band the way it was. When we asked to talk to George about how we were unhappy, he basically called us liars stating the ring was always that thin, blah blah blah. and did nothing to make it right. What a sleazy little place. The husband bought an engagement ring from there 15 years ago in 2004. In 2019, we went back to purchase diamond bands and have the diamond reset. What a horrible mistake. The staff was very happy to sell us a $5k band but when the prong on the diamond broke ONE YEAR LATER everything changed. First of all the atmosphere and staff had dramatically changed, it now felt like a creepy massage parlor. They informed me that the reason the prong on the diamond ring broke was my fault since I did not return in 6 months to have the ring "looked at." I paid $400 to fix the ring. Then in March 2021 the ring broke, literally in half!!! I have diamond rings purchased in the 1980s (from the jewelry district in LA) without any issues or problems let alone a broken ring. The manager was horrible.. never apologized or even had a kind word. I was furious ... she was bored and irritated. My only solace is that we will never spend $8k there again. My 1st transaction with them was more than a decade ago buying an engagement ring, later a custom wedding band, and about 5 years ago an additional ring. We've had a stone replaced after it fell out and went missing, and did a rhodium re-plating. About every 6 months I have to take the rings back in for inspection & cleaning. Minus one experience they've treated me as an extremely valued customer every time. I chalk that up to an employee eager to get a sale on a returning customer dropping in unexpected versus do ring maintenance. I understand they recently changed ownership within the family. Purchased a diamond band for my girlfriend on 4/14/2011. Kathleen (George's daughter) was in town and she was excellent. I told her I was looking for a girlfriend ring. Kathleen told me that girlfriend rings normally had colored stones, in which I replied: "In my world, they sparkle". I had a good idea what I wanted (diamond band in platinum or white gold) selected a very beautiful ring (that made my GF giddy). I was in and out in 30 minutes. Great experience. We did talk about her BF racing at the Long Beach Grand Prix, or it would have taken less time. This is not the "cheapest" place, but if you like quality diamonds, they seem to provide great value. I plan on getting the engagement ring here. I purchased a ring from here before a number of years ago and was helped by George himself. I came in "just to shop". I told them what I did for a living, they may have stereotyped me as being thrifty. I had to tell them once that perhaps I wanted to look at bigger diamonds (which they obliged).
