It's a rare instrument from Ukraine, 40-50 years old, showing wear, and with the usual dings on the bow plate, but in decent shape. I had the tuba restored by a brass instrument expert last year. But, now times are tough, and I decided to sell it. The guy was so rude! He said he wouldn't take it because of the dings and wear. I explained it was restored, and plays wonderfully. He said to "take it out of here, I don't want it." I think it was the bald guy. I don't even remember, I was so dejected. I was finally able to sell it at another pawn shop, for half of what I had hoped. But, at least the other people were friendly, and even took the time to look it up online to see what it would be worth. As I said, times are tough. I will never again step foot in Pawn Shop of Ventura. I'm sure they don't care. And, I understand they don't want to buy items that might not be easy to sell. The last and recent time I went here and for sure the last I'll ever be in their was when I tried to pawn some gold and guess what they hit me with, first thing they told me is that we have to charge you for checking and testing the gold with their acid. They scratch your gold and pretty much damage it by doing so when they scratch on that test plate and they drop acid on their which gives you the carrots of what your gold is. I was baffled blown away by what they told me saying that they would charge $3 bucks for every gold piece I needed to check. I've never once in my life or ever been told by a pawn shop that they have to charge me for testing my gold I've been pawning gold and dealing with pawn shops for ages for years now and this is the first place and the first time I've ever heard of such thing SMH, again take your gold your products elsewhere. You're most likely to find a better deals elsewhere. The day I walked in to trade in my gold I walked right back out with no cash in hand. It made me think. for example say you're in need of cash (your broke that day) and You walk in with a gold chain that you want to loan or pawn and if it turns out that it's not real gold, guess what you now owe them $3 bucks. Absolutely unacceptable experience at Fox Jewelry in Ventura…read more I came in with a buyer to not only sell my peice of jewelry, but also have the buyer resize the ring with the store. A staff member confidently told me (IN FRONT OF MY BUYER) that my IGI-certified 4CT lab-grown diamond was fake and "for sure Cubic Zirconia", even after I demonstrated the paperwork. After more staff members took a look, they come back to confirm it WAS actually a lab diamond (like I tried to explain!) That level of contradiction is beyond unprofessional and completely destroyed trust in the middle of a sale. On top of that, they tried to quote me around $3,000 to "rebuild" the ring because the band is thin, which felt wildly inflated. However, another person on the floor was much kinder and explained that this was due to the professional grade. Either way, she was much more informative than the other person that did not know the difference between a CZ and a diamond. This was embarrassing, frustrating, and handled terribly. I would not trust their judgment. Get a second opinion somewhere else.
