What I think is unfortunate about so many reviews is that people have a tendency not to give POSITIVE reviews. So here's one for Savad's/Sharita. *****DISCLAIMER: I do NOT work for or WITH Savad's or Sharita in Any way. I have been a client of Sharita's for a few years and I hate to see anything but good reviews about because I know her work well. The pictures I added are from her website***** I've been a client of Sharita's since 2009. I was referred to her by a friend. I've been wearing sew-ins since 2005, and I've had many different stylists and methods done on my hair. What I will tell you is that I have NEVER had a sew in as wonderful as Sharita's. Period. My hair is so believably real that even people that KNOW me have to take a double take. I've had 22' inch hair in my head UNLAYERED, and people on the street thought it was growing from my head FACT: Sharita is EXTREMELY fast at sew-ins. For my most recent install (3/8/12), I arrived at 11am and was out the door at 1:30pm. This includes wash/condition, braiding, sew in, AND there was 1 person ahead of me FACT: The ladies in the salon can get loud. They do have a tendency to laugh and speak loudly to each other. FACT: It is BEST to make an appointment with Sharita. Although walk-ins are welcome, regardless of if you've had your hair done by her before, she WILL refer you to someone else if she's booked. NOTE: She is the fastest in the salon at sew-ins, so you're pressing your luck if you get referred FACT: Sharita cuts tracks towards the TOP of your hair in order for it to lay flat. FACT: Sharita does have phone conversations with other people while you're in her chair. The volume in which she's talking depends on the day and conversation. I've never been bothered by it. FACT: Unlike most women that must find one stylist for sew-in, one for cut, another for color, and one for styling, I can firmly say that Sharita can do ALL of the above. I was skeptical when I FIRST went to her in 2009, but on my second install, I was made a believer. FACT: If you stick with her, your hair will GROW. From November 2009 to October 2010, my hair grew over 9 inches. My hair was 1" below my ear when I went to her initially and it grew to 2" above my bra strap. WHAT TO EXPECT WITH SHARITA FOR A SEW-IN: - Call and make your appointment - When you walk in to her area in the back of the salon, say hello and Denise will wash your hair (assuming you don't require a take down) - Ja will blow dry and braid your hair (That girl is GREAT at braiding. She's fast and the braids are SMALL so the weave absolutely lays flat). Sharita will ask where you want your part (assuming you're not using a closure) and if you want your edges out. She'll part, Ja will braid from there. - Sharita will call you to her chair when it's your turn and she'll have you thread needles as she sews - When she's done sewing in, she will ASK you if you want her to layer it, if you want a blunt cut, curls, etc. She will also SHOW you what hair she has left over. - Pay using cash or credit, FIN! All in all, you may or may not be bothered by the other ladies in the salon. You may or may not be OK with waiting if you have people ahead of you. All in all I will GLADLY endure ALL of the above in exchange for the QUALITY and SPEED of her work. AMAZING Sew-Ins!!! read more

Tyler was very unprofessional. Had an attitude and poor customer service. She overcharged for poor work. Braids we're a disaster. Brought her kids and baby-daddy drama to work. Had inappropriate conversations and language in the presence of a minor. I'm leaving this message because I would want anyone else to experience the agony that I've experienced today. I know have to go home and clean up braids that she did a terrible job on. read more

I want to like this place so badly! I went to Savad's sometime last year and had Sharita do my hair. She did an excellent job and I didn't have any issues with it. For my next weave, I decided to go somewhere closer to home and ended up overpaying and getting a terrible job that ended up taking 7+ hours but that's for another review. I decided to come back to Savad's in the hopes that Sharita could do my hair quickly for graduation but she was completely booked. She referred me to another woman named Rochelle who I then called and scheduled an appointment with. I got a full head sew-in take down(not done by Rochelle) which was quick and didn't hurt at all. After my wash and braiding I was sent to Rochelle's station to actually get my hair installed. From the time I sat down to about when I was halfway finished, I saw about 3 women get full head sew-ins from Sharita. My hair ended up taking TEN HOURS. I was not aware that I was referred to a hairstylist who did not have extensive experience in sew-ins and I do feel that I should have been warned before I booked the appointment. One of the main reasons I decided to drive up to her shop was so that I wouldn't have to sit in a chair for so long as I have a....um..deficiency of fatty tissues in the buttocks area and joint issues. Shame on me for not asking, shame on Sharita for letting me sit in her shop ignorant. Overall the job done on my hair was ok but I really didn't want to spend my entire day in her shop. If I get desperate enough to come here again, Sharita has to be the one to do it. read more

Okay...I didn't get my hair done here, but I was planning to. That was until I called to get the price of Strand by Strand and discovered the rudest tone over the phone that I had ever heard. I called at a different time...thinking that maybe someone was having a bad day and this time...I didn't know if I was calling a salon or not because she just said hello very rudely. I work in a spa and have been in customer service since I was 14. Word of advice...first impressions mean everything...and that is not how you answer a phone. That was enough to turn me off and send me elsewhere. Teach your receptionists proper phone etiquette. read more

My experience at this shop and beautician was horrible!!!!!! I had an appointment in which Sharita was late. Also, it's nice she has her own area to do hair but it defeats the purpose if there about 10 people in one small room laughing and talking in your face while getting your hair done. Very unprofessional and annoying!!!!!! I have gotten Sewins for years and never had my hair braided so tight! I got a lace closure (which is see thru ) for my Sewin in which she placed a black cap under and said she'd put makeup on the closure to make it blend. Total fail. She does closures one way. No leave out. Although I asked to leave some hair out around my hairline she kept saying it wouldn't look natural. Thank god I was able to come home and cut the closure and black cap out and just resew in the closure in to bring my hair do to life. I was also able to pull some of my edges out and despite Sharita's opinion, my closure and Sewin looked very natural. Beauticians should be open to what their clients are requesting. A waste of a lot of money when my cousin would have been open to what I wanted and done a better job. Worst hair experience ever to say the least. Should of requested Nikki!!!!! read more

My experience at Savad's was nothing short of awesome...was in town for my aunt's birthday party and needed a sew-in quick! My bestie recommended that I try Savad's and even though it was last minute, Sharita (the owner) was able to fit me in...I was not only able to get my sew-in done but was able to buy my hair from her as well. OMG!!! After my former beautician got married and moved away I was desperate for a new stylist in the Chicago area! I searched online and found Sharita, just taking a chance off her pictures alone! i called her on a Wednesday for an appointment, my hair looked TERRIBLE so I asked if she had any same day appts. She said it was her off day BUT EVEN agreed to still come in!! I felt so relieved lol! Well, my experience was AWESOME! The shop is nice and filled with very nice and warm people. They all seemed pretty cheerful and the atmosphere was fun yet relaxed. My hair is LAID, hands down the best sew in I've EVER gotten in life! My braids are super small and it lays down so flat! I always leave Savads feeling Hollywood, Sharita does amazing work, her phrase "no humps, no bumps, no lumps, is true everytime. I recently tried a full sew in with a closure for the first time, I must admit I was nervous of it looking more like a wig, but Sharita installed it to look so flat and natural and left me with so much versatility. Completely satisfied! I really wanted a sew in that I could pull up in a bun at the crown of my head as well wear down. My edges are a little thin but Sharita worked magic! Not only was the style "versatile" it was so flat and smooth! I've been getting hair weaves for over 10, in different cities and states... Sharita is the best! I love the fact that she had a private room for her clients,quality hair (I've had 3 separate installs with this hair), and she was so cool and down to earth. I had a weave installed by Sharita a few weeks ago. Let me start by saying that as soon as I walked in the shop I felt welcome. Sharita's assistants were very courteous and professional and started working on me right away. The first shampooed my hair and the other braided my hair. Then it was time for my sew in with Sharita. It is simply the best sew in I ever had. It's so flat and natural looking. I have received so many compliments the last few weeks. I will definitely be coming back for my weaves. I went to get my hair done at this salon yesturday. It's cosmetically pleasing but please do not let that fool you. I am SO unhappy with the results it's ridiculous. The beautician, sharita argued on the phone almost the entire time she was doing my hair and wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. It's very unprofessional and rude. There are hardly any mirrors in the place so good luck seeing anything she's doing to your head. Once she was done she finally handed me a mirror only to see how short she cut my hair! She argued back and forth with me...any other professional woman would have just offered to either leg me pay half price or at least so a little remorse. I sat in the salon for 7 hours only for my hair to look a mess. She didn't bother to try to fix it but instead told me to get up and motioned for the next client to sit there. read more

I would NEVER go here again. First I called and talked to the owner who quoted me a price over the phone. My appointment was set for 2 she did not get there until 3:30 and kept calling the shop saying she was on her way. Once she get there she start talking to the other workers. Once she get done with my hair she tell me it's an extra $35 cause she had to take my sew in down(which I told her on the phone I had a sew in) and chip my ends. I end up paying $85. Her prices are WAY too high and especially for her to be unprofessional. Not to mention she had her friend or sister(don't remember which one) sitting there the whole time talking, laughing, eating and showing her pictures of people which also kept distracting her. Sharita is the best hair stylist in the Chicagoland area period! I absolutely love her and would never let anyone else touch my hair. I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years and my hair always looks good! Everywhere I go people ask " who does your hair?" I have never seen a sew-in or wig look as natural as Sharita makes it looks. Her work is incredible and it will last 3-4 months easy. She goes the extra mile to give you the look you want and she stays current on all the latest trends. Your hair will look the best it has ever looked when you leave her shop! She also sells top quality hair that will last as long as you want it to. I have hair that I have been reusing for years and it still looks good. In addition to keeping my sew-in looking good, my real hair is now healthy, full and 18 plus inches due to the fact that Sharita clips my ends every time I get my install. If you want your hair done right give Sharita a call. She has a large clientele and her work is very detailed so if you are not a patient person I recommend an 8am appointment. read more

I waited a week before posting this review because I wanted to make sure the installation held up AND IT DID!! Being new to the area, I was hesitant in getting another sewin because other stylist that I used prior could never braid my foundation braids flat to my head (no lumps) due to the thickness and length of my hair. Sharita and her team were great. Once I arrived, her assistant introduced herself and explained the process to me. After I was washed and braided (her assistant was quick and precise with the braids... not to tight; just right and FLAT), I sat for maybe 30-45 minutes then I was in her chair getting sewed in. I saw other reviews criticizing her for talking on the phone while working but I didn't have a problem with that. The convos were mostly her taking care of business (why not multitask if you can). After the sew in was completed, she trimmed the split ends and flat ironed the hair. I was out of her chair and ready to go within 45 minutes. Overall, I enjoyed the experiece and LOVE MY HAIR!! I will be back!! My only issue is that I wish she was closer to where I live but I'll happily take the commute to get my flat sewin!! read more
