I really like their salads - full size ones are pretty big, could last two meals if I had more discipline. I also just tried their jala'mento panini (grilled sourdough with jalapeno pimento and bacon, served with strawberry preserves). I don't normally like sandwiches or paninis but I was in the mood to try something new, and I'm glad I picked this item. The cheese was warm and gooey, and the sweet strawberry preserves perfectly countered the savoriness of the sandwich. Also, their bakery treats look so good. Basic and homemade. He really liked it. I loved my club. The one thing we noticed was that the bread wasn't toasted, I'm not sure why we assumed that it would be, haha, but it should be. I came here for the first time 8/9/2018 at 6:20pm. I was waiting on my friend to meet me but, it turned out, we'd gone to two different locations. It was still worth it! There was a young man working the front who was very knowledgeable and patient. I have some dietary restrictions and he walked me through the menu with a smile. I ended up leaving with just dessert when my friend and I figured out we'd gone to different locations. But they were AMAZING! Found this location using Yelp. I consider myself a desert Expert and critic. Ordered a sliced coconut cream pie , would only give three stars. Ordered apple pie, give four stars. The fruit was cooked and tasty. However my slice had too much flour spooned over top of fruit for thickener. Finally a slice of cheese cake with praline topping. The texture of the cake was light and airy. The flavor of the topping was equally crafted, I'd give it a five star rating. Next time will try something from the menu. read more

The girl taking our order was very friendly and knowledgeable offering suggestions since we were new. I ordered the Turkey & Bacon Panini with potato salad on the side. A different girl brought us our food and was also very friendly. The food portion was large so come hungry. Overall I enjoyed the sandwich but the Turkey was a little dry and would prefer more of the amazing basil mayonnaise. After we ate we ordered a Lemon Bar and Key Lime Bar. Reasonably priced but a little lacking in flavor. To me, the lemon and lime should make your mouth water and these were pretty bland. The overall experience was good but the atmosphere felt like just a restaurant. Add a little more home feeling and minor flavor adjustments and I believe a 5 is in the works. I ordered a cake from here for my godson's baptism. I can't remember what size it was but it was to feed 30 people and ran me about $57.00. I got half white and half chocolate, and as soon as we cut the white I could tell it was overdone. It was brown around the edge and the color was yellow, not white. It was Dry and the buttercream icing was kind of hard. Usually buttercream is soft and this one you almost had to break the outer shell of it to cut the cake. The chocolate side of the cake was good and moist and yummy. However, the icing still the same for both sides. Overall I give it 2 stars. The customer service was great and the store is very cute, but probably won't be going again. I ordered some Cobb salads to go, those were good and had lots of chicken on it. Only way I might go back is to just stop in for some healthy lunch if I'm around. They price was decent but the cake wasn't very good at all. read more

This place has taken a sharp nosedive. WTH has happened? We've been coming here for years, since it first opened in 2003 or 4. It was awesome back then. But the last few visits have been subpar (and I'm being generous). Then yesterday I bought an assortment of cookies, and all I can say is, if you love the taste of granulated sugar with very little other flavoring, you'll love their cookies. If I could give 0 zero stars I would . I ordered a birthday cake three days ahead of the pick up date and spoke with someone in great detail about what frosting pairs nicely with that cake. Monday comes and I go in when they open as I need the cake for luncheon at noon in the Heights. They had no record of my order and even suggested I called the wrong location. Once I pulled up my call log and showed that wasn't the case the cashier offered up a chocolate cake as an alternative or having the cake ready at 1. Magnolia Café is a small café located off Fairmont in Pasadena. It is well hidden from the street, so unless you know it is there... you will miss it. Upon entering the first thing that catches your eyes immediately is the HUGE selection of sweets! They have about 6 different kinds of cakes ranging from Italian Cream Cake to Lemon Cake and a few in between. Then you see the pies in the case... There you also have a few selections... Pecan, Buttermilk, Chocolate Silk and a few others. And I must not forget the cookies... they have all kinds of cookies. I personally have only tried the Coca Cola Cake and the Italian Cream Cake... and they both were really tasty. Certainly good enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. And they do all the baking in house... so everything has that homemade taste. As for the regular food... they have a very good selection of sandwiches, salads and casseroles. The specials of the day are listed on the wall and they usually consist of a soup, quiche and some sort of casserole all include one side. On my last visit I ordered the Quiche Florentine and I chose the tortilla soup for my side. I must admit that I did not really like the quiche. I love spinach, but there was a lot of cheese in it... and the crust was a bit tasteless also there were way too many mushrooms for my liking. But I am probably not the best person to give a review on quiche because I am not a lover of quiche. I always think I have to try it... just in case my taste buds have changed and I start liking it. But I can honestly say... No they have not... not yet anyway. The tortilla soup was really good. The seasoning was just right with a touch of spice... and it had a lot of corn and not too much chicken in it... which I love. The chicken also had a great flavor. Kind of like smoked chicken... which went very nicely with the both in the soup. They also sale their casseroles family style to go. So all you have to do it take it home and heat it up. The selection is pretty extensive, but they don't have the same casseroles everyday... so I guess it would be a good idea to call ahead and make sure they have the one that you are craving made. They also range in sizes. I guess it would be something like small, medium, and large. And... of course... the different sizes feed a different number of people. The prices are very reasonable too. I think for a large that will serve about 8 is only like $24.00. Not bad for a meal for 8 people. Actually everything is priced reasonably well. Three of us dinned on less than $30.00, and that was for dinner... I think that is great. read more

Extremely disappoint!!! I have been going here for years and this was the last time I will go there. I have recommended this place and I will not anymore. I ordered a sandwich to-go. I got to the office and there was mayonnaise on the sandwich. When The menu says champagne mustard on the sandwich. I called them to ask about it and she said it's champagne mustard mayonnaise. She checked to see if anything could be done and she said they could not do anything about it. I asked to speak to the Manager and she said that the Manager is going to tell you the same thing, how she said it made irritated. They would not correct the sandwich which is not correctly describe on their menu nor did the person who entered the order mention anything that it was mayonnaise based. I really dislike mayonnaise and wasted $14. I am saddened and disappointed they would not make it right. I never call places, I thought maybe I got the wrong order or it was just a mess up which it happens. I was excited to try this sandwich. I really dislike mayonnaise. I find the atmosphere very comfortable. I really enjoy the food but don't find my self wanting to go back often. I will return but I only go 2 or 3 times a year, because of the location I forget it is there. My husband finds the portions to be small and the fare not hearty enough. I don't mean to say that the food is light and healthy because that is not the correct description of the food. This little gem of a café is Tucked away in the back of a strip mall and quite unassuming. The first impression one gains upon entering this establishment is from the wonderful aroma's that greet you of breads, pies and cakes baking which is not a faux prop but actual. It appears to be primarily a bakery and I was tempted to skip my lunch and simply order the pies and cakes inn the display case which looked absolutely delicious. The second impression one gains of this restaurant is its absolute cleanliness (they should all be but we both know they aren't) and organization. Even though it was lunch time the line to order moved along at a steady clip hence I can recommend it for those who have a set and limited lunch hour. Now onto the food. I ordered the St Charles Panini sandwich which was promptly served (less than 10 minutes) with which I chose to accompany by a 'red skinned' potato salad. Suffice that the panini was absolutely wonderful, fresh, surprisingly light and just the right consistency and flavor to compliment the pulled pork which is the centerpiece of the sandwich. It includes a slice of melted monterrey jack with caramelized onions, fresh lettuce and a combination of mayonnaise mixed with a raspberry chipotle spread which add perfect balance to the pork. The potato salad was a generous portion and it was equally well seasoned and dressed. Accompanying this meal was a miniature carrot cake muffin which was likewise fresh and incredibly flavorful. Given the prices at this restaurant, the quality of food and fresh baked breads, pies and cakes I would highly recommend Savannah Cafe and Bakery. read more

This is my first time trying Savannah and it's amazing! I had The Savannah with cream of spinach soup. I really loved the soup and the cranberry chicken salad sandwich was my favorite sandwich I got.
