I love this place. Most cupcake stores have that fondant. It's pretty but it don't taste good. Not small cakes. All of their stuff is delicious. I love their vanilla and strawberry cakes. This place is def a treat for me. They have always been consistently good. I've come here to get a dozen cupcakes before it cost about $50 but it was so good if you don't have time to bake it. the frostings are always good and edible. Usually I throw out the frosting bc it's way too sweet. I think small cakes has the correct recipe to make it perfect. There are tables inside as well as outside if you want to have your treat here. I shared a box of Smallcakes cupcakes with some co-workers, and everyone agreed the cupcakes were delicious! I tried the wedding cake cupcake, and it was fluffy while still slightly dense with a thick moist crumb. The cupcake itself had enough of a classic almond flavor too without needing the icing to boost the taste which I appreciated. I decided to do a custom cake for my boyfriend's birthday through this bakery since I live close by and had their cupcakes before and thought they were pretty good. I picked up my cake this past Saturday and was not too happy with the results. The lettering on the cake came out crooked and the cake looked overall rushed. The worker could tell by my face that I wasn't too happy with the finished cake and gave me a complimentary cupcake (hence the 2nd star for being a great employee) I was told that I would be getting a call by Monday (today) but I received no call whatsoever. Wonderful! We requested a number 80 cake for my mom and a smaller birthday cake for my dad. They were both absolutely amazing and delicious. The only disappointment was that there were no leftovers after the party. Guests came back for seconds and all three cakes disappeared in a flash. Will definitely be back! I came to Smallcakes located on 10555 Pearland Pkwy on July 5th 2024 around 10:00 that morning. I needed a 6" inch cake for a birthday. Something really small, so I ask the worker how much would it cost for a 6" inch cake to made before 2:00 p.m. The lady worker told me it will be $65.00 and a $5.00 rush fee. I was so shocked that a 6"inch cake would cost $65.00. I told her never mind that doesn't sound right. I went to HEB Bakery and got a beautiful chocolate 6"inch cake for $16.00. Buyer beware! Our grooms cake was a complete disaster. The cake was supposed to be ivory in color, instead it was yellow which also changed the flavor of the cake. The letters were completely off center. The letters looked like a child put them on the cake. We had wedding guest ask if we made the cake ourselves or had a friend make it. We have been using Smallcakes Pearland Parkway for birthday desserts for a couple years now, never crossed my mind to ask them to make our wedding cake. We tried other "wedding" bakeries but nothing compared to what we knew Smallcakes Pearland Parkway was capable of. So I finally decided to ask if they created wedding cakes and I am SO HAPPY I asked! Smallcakes Pearland Parkway made our wedding cake design process so enjoyable and so delicious! The cake tasting process was amazing and so informative. We decided on a four tiered wedding cake (different flavors for each tier) and 150 cake pops (in lieu of a groom's cake). The cake was absolutely beautiful and sooooo delicious! Their cake pops are top notch in my opinion, we chose red velvet and carrot cake. We literally cannot recommend Smallcakes Pearland Parkway enough!! My usual bakery was closed and at random I got my birthday cake from here and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. This bakery is more expensive but I felt so pleased I decided I'd buy more cakes in the future! A month later I decide to order a cake for thanksgiving. Because it has buttercream flowers in the design which I know to be famously challenging for even seasoned bakers. I took special care to ask about the confidence of the decorator that they could in fact do the flowers and was assured they could. I picked up the cake curbside and at first glance cake looked good. When I got home and further inspected the cakes details it fell short of the cake a month prior and certainly of my expectations. I was already in a poor mood and debated contacting the store or letting it slide. However in the end I opted to voice my disappointment. While Britany was not unpleasant our interaction was. We spoke for maybe 15 minutes and to everything I said Britany offered nothing but frankly funny reasons everything was my fault. "Colors are wrong" - oh well computer settings differ and did they not go over the possibility of not getting the colors exact? "I'm disappointed in the lack of details and flowers" - the time to express that was when you picked it up "the flowers lack detail and you can't distinguish that they are mums at all" - oh did you not look at our Instagram and see how our flowers look. "I was assured you could do the flowers. the green dots are missing on the white ones." - we'd never promise to get it exact down to the dots and other details in a photo. "The wreath doesn't even close" - our cake may be bigger? (That one was weird doesn't even make sense). When I talked about the detail of the flowers in the reference photo she said she didn't know what it was made out of maybe gum paste of fondant (they are buttercream). Another roundabout way of trying to skirt the responsibility of the lack of detail in the flowers. On and on in a circle we went. For me to finally say so there is nothing then that you can do for me. This was the best part as she was literally went silent until I said Hello? Then she was said yes, offered other pleasantries about having a good holiday and that's it. I thanked her for her time and suggestions and said it would be a lesson for next time. The experience however frustrated me because it was plainly a dismissal. I asked what she felt she could do for me and after 15 minutes the answer was simply nothing. That is poor customer service. What's more I like coming here and was looking forward to continuing to order. Any efforts to do better would have gone a long way but there wasn't any. We all have to grow in skill buttercream flowers are not my strongest skill either so this is in no way a slight at the decorator who's effort are appreciated. However I am still disappointed in how everything was handle. First of all, everything is yummy! If you haven't had the ice cream, DO! I recently bought a chocolate cake for my dad's birthday. I was DECADENT! Beautifully decorated, moist and rich in flavor. The design was what I would call "traditional" (no lettering, since lettering isn't my favorite on cookie cakes or cakes, in general. I just prefer a candle). The cake was right on time for my pick up and check out was easy. The cake was tall, so you have to have someone to hold it and/or you have to drive reasonably, like you have a cake in the car! We go to the Smallcakes on Pearland Parkway a few times a month, and the cupcakes, macarons (yes, I spelled it correctly) are always fresh and delicious. The staff is helpful and nice too. Cupcakes and pies are great, HOWEVER birthday cake was a disaster. Cut into cake to remove a slice and the top layer split into pieces and slid off onto the sides. Icing too soft to hold cake together? Don't know, never had a cake do that before..
