Let me tell you my story. In 2019 I had my rear breaks done before going on a road trip. During said trip a clunking noise started coming from one of my back tires. When I got home I took it back to them. I was told that whoever replaced the breaks FORGOT a part, but I was never in danger. They fixed the issue for free. I thought, ok mistakes happen. No harm, no foul. 2020, I get my windshield replaced. Pick it up, first red flag, there's broken glass all over the front seat. I drive home, there's a loud vibrating noise coming from where the windshield meets the dash. I take it back next day and tell them it's making a sound. They take it, "drive it", and call to tell me there's no sound. I think ok maybe it's just me and I didn't give it time to settle. I pick it up, drive out of their driveway and what do you know, the sound is there. So for the next few days I drive it around hoping it will settle and go away. It does not. So I record the sound so I can it back the next day to show them. It rains over night. I get in my car the next day and the driver side floor is SOAKING wet. The windshield leaked. I take it up there. Tell them it's leaking and offer to show him where it's coming from. I mention the sound and that I recorded it. He has no interest in anything I have to say or show him. He takes my key and says he'll call me. Later that day he calls me and says there's no water on my floor and there's no sound. I start to get angry. I tell him there is water on the floor, did you check under the mat??? Silence. He said no. I said I recorded the sound and you refused to listen to it. He hangs up. He calls back 10 min later, he looked under the mat and saw the water. They found the leak and will seal it. As for the sound he's refusing to believe me and blames the few things I have hanging in my car. Which are not the issue. They have never been the issue. I get the car back the next day. Still makes the sound. I figured out what was happening. Somehow when they put the windshield in, it's closer to the dash on the driver side that it was previously. You can clearly see the progression of the gap get larger from the driver side to the passenger side. I stuck a piece of foam between the glass and dash and the noise stopped. 2021. Against my better judgement I go back because my exhaust suddenly decided to be loud and I didn't want a ticket. They are close and cheap and my brother just had work done there with no issues. So I figure why not. But, boy was I wrong. I picked up my car and there are 3 gouges on the driver side door that we're not there when I dropped it off. Unfortunately I picked it up after hours so I wasn't able to talk to anyone. I left a msg, but no ones called back as of yet. I doubt I'll here from them at all. I plan on going up there later. I called the place beforehand for a quote, which I still didn't receive until I arrived. The initial cost of the work was $147. it wasn't until after I left that the owner called me to say that my car needed more work than expected and the price would now be $260. I asked what that cost consisted of and he proceeded to tell me he was charging me $75 just for looking at the car. this price never came up before I left the place, where I asked THREE times what my total cost would be. and to add fuel to the fire, the owner hung up on me! I will NEVER bring my car back to this place and you shouldn't either. period. read more

If I could give it less than one star I would. Save your money! His prices may be low, but that's because he's putting cheap chinese parts in your car. You'll pay for it later when you have to do the repair all over again. He is also not very knowledgeable about how the different parts work together - didn't understand how a fuel pump and fuel gauge work together. His cheap fuel pump didn't come calibrated (he had no idea what that meant) so spring for a mechanic who uses quality parts that work with your vehicle. Now I'm out a ton of money and have no idea how much gas is even in my car. Kicking myself for not going to my mechanic. Only went here because I broke down in the neighborhood on a weekend when my mechanic was closed and too far away for a car that wouldn't run. Plus Savaya charged me for a tow across the street. 1 block. That is ridiculous. Wish I would've walked away then. read more

This place is what you are looking for in a mechanic. These guys are honest and reasonable. Several times they could've charged me for more, but honestly said that the additional work wasn't necessary. I've gone to them many times over the years. Many times they've shown to have the customer's best interest at heart. However, don't expect to fool or take advantage them. I've seen them handle these unsavory situations well, too. read more

I already have and will continue to recommend Savaya to any and everyone. As a woman, its very hard to find a mechanic who will listen to you, won't gip you, or treat you like you don't know anything about the car you drive everyday. Savaya did NONE of that to me. I took my car to a family mechanic when it wasn't starting. He took one look and told me it was bad gas. We took it to Autozone and they told me it was a knock sensor, and proceeded to try to get me to pay $180 for a part, that apparently I did not need because when I took it to Savaya's, I told him the problem I was having, and within two minutes, he just pointed out that my starter was the problem. He had my car for no more than two and half hours and he fixed a leak in my engine, changed my oil, and my starter. He also gave me a lifetime warranty with the starter and it was the cheapest anyone else had offered. I was more than appreciative. read more

So... had a most terrible experience with Savaya Auto Service in Hazel Park. Called up and asked how much they'd charge for changing my two front lower ball joints. The owner (Nick) quoted me a really good price, so I said I'd be right over. I even repeated the price back to him at least once, if not twice. He then told me how he uses MOOG parts which I thought was even better. So, I drop my truck off and come back a couple of hours later to retrieve it, but they're still working on it. I hear a lot of pounding with a hammer - LOUD.... and I go check out what is going on. Well, the guy was having a hard time lining up the ball joint (it's a press fit) and it went in a bit crooked. He proceeded to beat the corruption out of things for a while. I cringed and hoped they wouldn't damage the new ball joint since hammering it to death is not good for it.... and then the next sound I hear is a welder.....so I look in the shop and the guy is welding my ball joint to the lower control arm. And I was not happy. I know it won't kill it, but it is not proper and smacks of back alley work. MOOG does make oversized ball joints for some vehicles for this exact reason. Anyway, it gets worse..... after welding and them finishing, I go to pay them, but the guy tries charging me $100 more than he told me on the phone!!! And then we get into an argument. I told him that I could have done it for $10 more around the corner and the only reason I came to his shop is he could get it done today and I need it fixed ASAP. We go round and round and it gets heated because I made it 100% clear that I would pay the $10 more to match the other guy's price, but no more!! He accuses me of taking advantage of him of all things!!! I was not standing for that and let him know that tactic was not going to work. He finally relents and goes to charge me, but he says the credit card machine is down (which I highly doubt - I think he was just worried that I would refute the charges I think). So he demands cash before releasing my car. So I had to have my wife leave a school meeting she was in to come and get me cash so I could get my truck. Unbelievable!! It was like being stuck in a 3rd world country right here in Detroit!!! I did pay him $10 extra which I shouldn't have after being treated that way, but such is life. I guess is this is why they have online reviews. I need to leave one so others avoid this place. I really don't think he tried to jack the price up, but I do wonder how often this happens. Had he given me a written estimate (required by law) we wouldn't have had that problem, but he didn't. Wish I had gone elsewhere. read more
