VERY Dissatisfied with a cake i had ordered from the bakery. When ordering my cake with Alexis i was specifically clear I wanted a burgundy cake. I then proceed to ask if there is any examples of what their burgandy looks like and i was told she is not able to show me an example. As i am picking up my cake thinking it would be a beautiful cake just as shown in the display. NOI WAS WRONG. The cake is barney purple instead of burgundy and seems as if whoever did the icing has Carpal tunnel. This review gets one star because of this rude cashier by the name of Marina . I normally do most of my shopping here because of good friendly customer service by employee's and the fact that this store is very clean and big. I was using my wic vouchers at the time and I also had a separate transaction for my non wic things she told me she couldn't ring up my wic things first , and that I had to put my others non wic groceries on the belt first . So yeah, I just moved into the area at the time from Austin TX. And of course when shopping we try all different places. What I do personally though is price comparison everything out there with my nifty iPhone and see what the difference is in prices. Just the name itself, "Save Mart" makes you feel like you are going to save something in comparison to other places such as "Smart & Final" which makes you think you are making smart choices by coming there but truly it is final, so if you buy it and don't like it too bad heh. Or Walmart, which everything most likely has an understanding of, but sad to say one always wants to find stores that are not Walmart to shop at for a myriad of reasons. Either way, I had high hopes for Save Mart as they were literally the closest place to my house. I was thoroughly disappointed and let me tell you about it. By the time we had gone through half of the store, I had calculated that everything that I had in the cart was almost 40% more expensive than anywhere else that I had shopped so far. I meanI was looking at the numbers as I was gathering the stuff, but it did not hit me until about halfway though. Mind you I was again expecting there to be some sort of bargain coming to this store, but there was literally nothing. The sales that they had just brought down regular items to what other places were selling them for, and then tried to make you feel like you were saving money. In the end as I spent 45 min there at the time, I spent another 30 min putting everything back before I walked out the door not buying a damn thing. I was with my son in law Cole, and both him and I were talking about that experience for the next two weeks. Really sad. So if you want to get ripped off, please feel free to go to this place. Or if you want to feel like you are at some top of the line grocery store and validating it in your own head that you are paying for the quality. But in reality it is no better than any other grocery store that I have seen, nor worth the serious price you pay for the same type of goods at any other grocery store chain. Grocery item look up: I called up the Savemart Supermarket on the corner of Oakdale and Scenic. A service clerk answers the phone and kindly ask what can he help me with. I asked if their supermarket has a specific cereal brand, Weetabix, even spelt it out for him, and hint that it's in the organic cereal section. Service clerk puts me on a minute hold. (That was quick..) and confirms his store doesn't have Weetabix, or they ever carried the brand. Honestly, I felt like he didn't take the time to check. So I drove there and checked. Well would you look at that, 7 boxes for 4.89 a box. I was pretty annoyed, so I called the store again to ask if they had the cereal. The same man confirms he was 100% sure. ... seriously, take pride in where you work, what position you have, and at least make an effort to check. Lazy. Pros: the store was clean, organized. I shopped Savemart because their meat is better than other grocery stores or delis. I hadn't been there for a long time because they were too expensive. Upon returning I was surprised to see how high their meat prices were compared to the grocery store down the street from me. They were at least $1.50 more a pound which can make a big dent in the pocketbook to those with children, on Social Security, or food stamps. Yes I prefer their quality of meat over all other grocery stores, I just can't afford it on a regular basis. In the end, Savemart is loosing money as I passed up on other food items as well because of high prices. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has made this comparison. I guess I'll just buy meat from Savemart on very special occasions. read more

All the times Ive been here Ive had a good experience. People are nice and friendly. Asks if we needed help. You can walk up to an employee and ask them what you are needing and they well help you or point you to the right direction. Go in get all my grocery shopping done and leave. Lines arent long during the times Ive been in. When they tend to get busy and they can quickly ring you up and if theres no bagger I usually do it myself no problem. They appreciate it too. Im not no lazy, let people do it for me kind of person. If they need help in bagging I do it. Its my grocery Im buying it, like I care who bags it. Makes the process faster so that the other people waiting in line can get through it quickly too. The veggies and produce are pretty good and at a reasonable price. Dirty as hell, they didn't care someone stole a whole alcohol bottle IN FRONT OF THEM. Kicked me out not once but twice for my service dog being in here, no help at all, they charged me 4x for some groceries I didn't even pay for the guy behind me did because their Apple Card reader wasn't working yet they said it would've reversed and it still hasn't. They've ripped my packages of meat multiple times while putting it in the bag and still tried to hand it to me as if I didn't see them do all that. He went out of his way for us. Sandwhich was So delish & satisfying. Will definitely be coming back to this location, hopefully he will be there to gladly serve us again. The employee Joshua in the seafood department is a great attribute to Savemart. He's knowledgeable about where to find items in the store. I don't like to wait too long...I didn't with him. My order was cut precisely to my specific needs. He had a real enthusiasm for his position in the seafood department. I've come across alot of different people in seafood departments in other stores non of which had a passion for the customer or their position. I'm here to tell you that Joshua went above and beyond of what a representative of Savemart or any other store should be. I always go to the bakery for my children's bday cakes. The staff is very accommodating when it comes to special requests. For my sons bday theme which was space theme there was nothing really in the books with space theme or rocket ships. I took theme a picture of a rocket ship and told them to add to a cake. Super bad experience with a cashier who declined to sell me alcohol just because I had my little sister and brother with me. I had my ID ready to show bc I always get asked for it and her exact words were " I can't sell you the alcohol bc I'm assuming you're going to give them the alcohol and it's store policy" I asked so if I leave the store and come back by my self can I buy my alcohol? She said no and said again it was store policy. I left with my hands empty. I really wish they would have something to let people know "it's store policy" before you even get to the register bc I just wasted my time, and had such a bad and embarrassing experience. read more

This review is against the lack of customer service given by cashier Karen and manager Victor... If I could give zero stars I would, however that might not be fair to the rest of the employees working there. At around 9:30pm on July 18th, my father, brother, toddler son, and myself approached the register to pay for some items. My dad was buying 4 bottles of beer and I had grabbed a six pack of Coca-colas and two bags of chips which I was going to pay for separately, however my dad offered to pay for my stuff as well. The cashier Karen, did not greet us and hardly even acknowledged our presence until the moment when she asked for ID. This was all fine as we know it is the law to ask for ID. However, she apparently felt the need to ask all of us for our ID, when it was clear that my dad had approached the register first with his beer and then I had showed up with my son and brother. We felt discriminated and harassed as she demanded to see all of our IDs claiming that we were going to share the beer. Apparently it was one beer for each of us, including my 4 year old son. I tried to be polite and showed her my ID as well, but she insisted on seeing my brothers ID, even though my brother was off to the side watching my son. As we refused to show her the ID she said she wouldn't sell us the items, so we asked to speak to a manager. All this time the cashier had a smug attitude rather than explaining why she needed to see all of our IDs. It was clear we were there as a family. The manager Victor showed up and offered to ring us up at a different register however his attitude and customer service was far lacking as well. Rather than being polite and hearing us out he insisted on speaking above us and making us feel like we were doing something wrong. He defended the cashier without letting us explain ourselves, all while the cashier looked at us from afar with a sly smile on her face, making us feel, as mentioned before, discriminated and harassed as well as humiliated in front of the other customers. Even though the manager said he would ring us up at the next register he spent like 5 mins trying to prove his point rather than ringing us up and getting us out the door. The manager wouldn't even give us a chance to talk when he was already talking above us, explaining the same thing over and over as if we were retarded and not understanding which was definitely not the case. It was as if both the manager and cashier wanted us to admit that they were right and we were wrong, without caring for providing good customer service. I can tell you now that we will not be shopping at that store as long as that cashier continues to work there and discriminate whomever she pleases. We spend a lot of money at that store, but we will be taking our business else where from now on. read more

I decided to try this supermarket because I figured delivery would be easier with a robot, which are common in my neighborhood. Instead they sent a person to deliver the food. The first order I used, everything was fine, delivered on time, and I was happy with the order. The second time, I only got three out of 4 grocery bags of my order from a different guy, although I paid for all of them. I didn't realize that I was shorted until I finished unpacking things and put them away, then started to cook and found the things I ordered specifically for that meal were missing. I checked the receipt and they were on there, but not delivered. It wasn't that they were out of stock or substitutions, just missing. I don't know if the delivery guy missed a bag, and gave it to someone else, or if he took it home because he thought I didn't notice, but I had no way to contact the store at that point, nowhere to ask if the bag was returned to them, or what happened, or to complain, so I just let it go. But I'm thinking twice about using their delivery service again, and since we're still limiting our outings due to the pandemic, I won't be shopping there. read more

The store itself is great! They have lots of really cool stuff to choose from, and unique service options. The customer service from the people working the front registers is great, they all seem happy and eager to help. I only wish the folks in the deli gave my wife and I the same experience. We stood there for about 17 minutes trying to order sandwiches before we just gave up and walked away. We weren't the only ones either, there was a line of discouraged hungry people. I understand not everyone behind the counter makes the food, but acknowledging your customers and setting expectations should be number one no matter what your position is! The lady in front of us got her stuff and the person that helped her vanished without a word. We saw numerous people walking by and avoiding eye contact. It was rude and awkward at the same time. For a flagship store, you might want to rethink your customer facing employees, as that alone can tarnish such a beautiful stores reputation. I see a lot of these kinds of reviews posted about customer service. If your going to charge premium prices, we expect at least some form of decent service. I also see no response from them either on any of these, which leads me to believe they think they are too big to fail. I guess I'll keep going to Raley's for their great service. read more

This Save Mart grocery store is clean and I haven't had a problem with customer service. Their CA Lottery machine runs out of scratchers often because quite a few people I've seen buy 'em, but they replace the rolls within the next day or so. They give 5c off for each reusable bag you bring in instead of using their paper/plastic. The fruits and veggies are fresh unlike the Save Mart on H Street in Modesto. Overall, not a bad store. read more

This review is for the deli at the Riverbank store. The girl behind the counter seemed to be stoned or maybe just could not think. Tried to order a wrap but she could not find the tortillas and would not go get some off the shelf. Then changing to a sandwich she did not seem to have ever made one before and had to look at the board to see what went on it. Eating the sandwich at home a short time later something did not seem right. I pulled a piece of paper out of my mouth. Opening the sandwich i found a piece of paper stuck to the tomatoes. Bad experience. Hopefully Savemart can hire and train with the customer in mind instead of what ever inspired them to hire their current deli staff. This is the third time I have had the displeasure of his poor customer service and now firmly believe that it's just him and he enjoys people leaving his store unhappy. I certain that more people must have had the same or similar experience. I had a "rain check" for a sale item I wanted to use and they were short on the quantity of items needed to fill my rain check, thus I wanted to purchase what they had and use the balance on a return visit when they have more. Simple concept.. No Mr Daniel Farley position is that I should surrender the rain check and to bad we only had a few of the items you need. Really are you saying that yes he was is and did.
