I've had very mixed experiences with customer service at Save Mart Supermarkets. Many of the staff members have been absolutely phenomenal -- especially the baggers and one of the older ladies who works in the mornings. They are friendly, helpful, and truly make customers feel valued. Because of them, I've continued shopping here. Unfortunately, the experience in the evenings has been completely different. The women working during that time have been consistently unprofessional and rude. Customer service seems to be lacking, and interactions often feel dismissive, cold, and unfriendly. It creates an uncomfortable atmosphere that makes it hard to want to return. Customer-facing employees should understand the importance of basic courtesy and professionalism. At the very least, everyone should know how to treat people with simple kindness and respect. Perhaps additional training on customer service -- or even just a reminder about how to be kind human beings -- would make a significant difference. If that's not possible, those employees may be better suited to back-of-store tasks rather than direct interaction with customers. Due to these repeated negative evening experiences, I will not be returning to this store. I normally don't come to savemart because the prices are so high . But one thing about save mart that keeps me coming back is they have a great deli and bakery . Really impressed with their service here. I found this S-Mart market because it was right next door to the Dollar Store. Pretty convenient. Their Aisles are pretty roomy and clean. Why are all the S-Marts in Sacramento called " Save Mart?" The store layout is almost exactly the same, the workers wear the same colored aprons, and the prices are the same. If I were to have it my way, I'd have S-Marts in Sacramento instead of Save Mart because from my experience, the employees at S-Mart are way more friendly, and the stores are cleaner/updated/modern. Where am I going with this? Who knows! I just want to know why they're called Save Mart in Sacramento and if they're even the same store? Anyways, enough of all that nonsense. I like this location . Their salmon is such a hit, especially if they're on sale (which they normally are 85% of the time ) I like that it's not farm raised either. I usually come to this location because the ones in my area usually sell out. Only con about it, is that it's a boneless fillet with skin attached. One time, I had come in to buy some salmon but the meat/ seafood dept was closing up. The kind gentlemen behind the counter cleaned everything away but went to the back to get us some anyway . Super nice customer service ! I also have to mention that they do sell organic products at a reasonable price, nothing too outrageous. Would I come back ? Yeah! Whatever you do don't go and try to get a money after 9pm on a Sunday night. The short Mexican woman manager is very rude and disrespectful and told my husband to leave for no reason. She got very smart with him and told him off when all he did was ask a question while I was on the phone with him. She was completely out of line and had an extremely bad attitude and didn't even care about it. So whoever is the overall manager of this place now I suggest they check or fire her because she doesn't need to be working in that position at all. They roll their eyes the 2 security females that were so called working last night at the one on Pacific Ave they followed me while I was shopping in the store and I'm a long-term customer of this store. They have new grocery carts that lock up when you leave the sidewalk, therefore you must walk back and forth from the cart to your car to load your groceries. -I came in today 9/20/23 at 7:10am to purchase 5 balloons. The self checkout clerk told me that the balloon person doesn't not come in until 7:30am and no one else "wants to do it." This was upsetting. After 10 minutes, I kindly asked someone else in the store to see if they could help. After I told him what was said, he decided to help. The saddest part was when the balloon person walked in 10 minutes prior to his shift, the self service clerk mentions that someone else is over here doing his job. The bakery has gone cheap. I paid $24.99 for a supposedly 1/4 sheet cake. It looked nice on the outside but when cut into It had a very thin first layer (less than a half inch) then a very thin of the raspberry filling followed by a second layer that was a bit thicker than the first but still thin. It was a bit of a bait and switch in that the cake was then covered with a thick layer of frosting that was literally thicker than the first layer of cake. Just be advised that if you think you are buying a cake you are actually buying some cake and a whole lot of frosting. This is probably cost cutting but for $24.99 the cake should be the prize not the frosting. Disappointed and will not shop this store again. read more

Literally no sense of urgency with these checkers or baggers. I am writing this review while standing in line. There's two people ahead of me and the checker tina is moving as slow as a snail. Acting like it's her first day. The checker behind her Dana has to sit down her entire shift to check and she lives even slower people are actually avoiding her line because she's sooo slow!!! It's no wonder the lines get backed up all the way to the meat department. This store needs to hire younger baggers who have the ability to work and stand at a fast pace. Customer service training is desperately needed at this location. I stopped in this afternoon to pick up a few items for dinner and was disappointed at how rude one of their cashiers was. She greeted the person in front of me with such enthusiasm and I thought she treated everyone like that. Soon as it was my turn all I got was attitude and it got worse as soon as she saw that I was paying with my food stamps. 08/27/16 3-1/2 stars I had my doubts about this place when our kid told us that they frequently shopped here.. 1) because we don't have one in HI and 2) I only know about S-Mart because of Ash and the "Army of Darkness".. I was really impressed with how clean this store was on the inside.. It could have passed for a Safeway if it weren't for all of the "exotic" items on the shelves.. The store itself is well organized and the shelves are fully stocked.. While the kids were getting their groceries I walked up and down the aisles just perusing the products.. I was really excited to see that they offer Fresh Made Poke at the seafood counter and for only $9.99/lb!! That is a steal and unheard of here in Hawaii.. And I actually only knew about it because I overheard a customer asking for it.. I also found Kauai Coffee and Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee as well as Kona Brewing Co beers in stock and ON SALE! The kids really love the fact that they carry orange cream and vanilla flavored milk.. amazing.. They have a wide variety of potted herbs in front of the registers too.. Overall, this is a cute little grocery store with a variety of products.. We'd go back just to get more flavored milk.. read more

Thank goodness these guys were open on Christmas Day. No matter how much you plan and shop for the holidays, there is always something you're missing; chicken stock, cranberries, celery, garlic....whatever! There's always something you find missing the minute you start cooking. Never fails... So, I set out to find these 4 things at 9am in the morning and while I found my usual, go-to grocery stores closed, this one was the only one open. Thank goodness! The store was full of peeps who like me, forgot items on the list. I found my items pretty quickly but took extra precautions and cruised through random aisles to see if anything triggered thoughts of anything else we might've missed. Instead, I picked up a few impulse items like Eggnog, nuts to munch on, random cheese and some chocolate in case my sisters and I decided to bake. Walking through this store, I was impressed with how clean it was. It has been probably 10 years since I've been to this store. It might've been something else back in the day but It looked to be recently remodeled. I was impressed and might be inclined to stop in here more often when I'm home visiting the family. read more

They still haven't employed the "check yourself out" scheme (and no, I'm not talking about checking your hair as you pass the mirror in the hallway) that most grocery stores are going to as a way of cutting costs...really, is that necessary? The folks are friendly and helpful, prices are competitive and you don't have to bag your own groceries. My son worked his way through JC with his pt job w/benefits here. His buddy Jim made it a career and has advanced in the company as they have noticed his dedication and strong work ethic. This is a local chain grocer which I for one, will do my utmost to support. I am continually disappointed by the management of this location of S-Mart. The shelves are often empty of product which should be regularly restocked - e.g. Distilled water; Stuffing (located in the vegetable aisle - not the bread aisle or the Pasta aisle. A pathetic choice of Pasta by the way). This is the closest grocery to me and is fairly easy to access. I also used the S-Mart on March Lane previously and it was always top notch with a very helpful manager. The personnel are very pleasant but don't be "connected" to the store. I visited the store about 5:00 PM today. As I was shopping in the bakery department, I asked both clerks if they can direct me to the restroom. They both stated that it is located by the seafood department and that the staff at the seafood department can give me access to open the door. They continued to indicate that they have no access to the code to access the restroom and it is locked. They can't open the door, themselves. Only the staff from the seafood department can open the restroom door. The one clerk from the seafood department was able to access the code on the door. Management should give all their employees access to open the restroom door. There was only one person busy at the seafood counter. She was pleasant about accommodating me. read more

This IS the nicest S-Mart in Stockton- it's hidden behind Smart and Final/Toys R Us. I went there for the first time today 11/14/13 and was impressed w/ the cleanliness and overall appearance. I went there for apples- .69/lb. I went w/ golden delicious- got home had one and it wasn't good- hopefully the others are better. Progresso soup (limited selection) is on sale for .88- I picked up two cans of Lentil- good stuff and gluten free. Take your own bags- they give a .05 credit per bag I'll return to this store if in the area and the prices are better than other (sometimes cheaper) stores. I usually go to the one at Quail Lakes but preferred the experience here (probably b/c it's hidden and the ghetto hasn't set in). read more

Came here for a quick dinner. Was looking for a rotisserie chicken but they were sold out. Saw that they had a rotisserie turkey thought that would be a great alternative. Boy was I wrong. I paid more for the turkey mind you. ($10) compared to the 7.99 for the chicken. It was so dry and hard when I cut into it it was like cutting into a cracker. I took a bite and tried to feed it to my son. He immediately took it out of his mouth and threw it on the ground.(he's one) I tried to call the store to some how resolve this disgusting turkey problem, but the service desk did not answer. A bit pricey for a full grocery shop, but when I have five or six items on my 'must have for tonight' list, this is my go-to supermarket. The quality of the fresh fruit, veggies, meats and fish is always top notch. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful (there is often a grumpy old guy at the 12 items or less check-out). On several occasions, clerks stocking shelves have stopped their work to guide me five or six aisles over to find the item I'm after. That's service. I've rarely had to wait more than a couple minutes to get through a check-out line, and the baggers always ask if I'd like help out to my car; sometime, I might just take one of them up on that, with my one or two bags of goods. No, that wouldn't be nice. S-Mart often has good specials on certain items, and if you keep an eye on the weekly throwaway in your mailbox, you'll find some good loss-leaders too. Otherwise, though, they need to lower their prices a bit to earn that fifth star. read more
