Such great customer service! These guys are so nice and friendly...I really enjoy chatting with them when ever I shop here. Their meat is always fresh and has amazing flavor! I was at Safeway and had picked up ground turkey from Safeway's meat dept. ($10 for 2lbs)....it was full of some sort of plastic shards & therefore uneatable. I was in a hurry, rushed to Save More Meats to buy replacement meat. Ended up getting lean ground beef instead & in the end it cost $3 less than the turkey that Safeway sold me. Save More's was fresh & tasted great -as always. I learned my lesson & will be sure I get all of my meat from Save More....it's fresher, less processed & it's cheaper too!! What a difference going to a real butcher makes. I already go to the farmer's market for produce, Trader Joe's for a million products I can't live without, and I was resistant to add one more stop, but this place is really worth it. The butcher is friendly and helpful, and the prices really are reasonable. Most importantly, the meat is fresh and tender. I couldn't believe the difference between Save-More and Safeway--it's actually visible. And you get double the taste with fresh meat. I had this place book marked years ago when I had this crazy idea of roasting a whole pig. That idea has since gone down the drain but I've been coming here more and more for fresh meat. Before I get into the meat, I'd like to say that the customer service here is superb! I've been a home cook for a long time but having a conversation with a butcher that really knows cuts of meat has elevated my home dishes to the next level. My brother and his family shop here too and everything we've bought here has been top quality. The crown jewel of all my purchases here has been the three bone prime rib roast we made for Christmas. We'll usually get it at Costco, but the taste and texture of the beef is far better! Out of this world good! Best prime rib I've ever had! My family also likes pork chops and lamb. I recently purchased some pork chops and cooked them sous vide... tender, moist and flavorful... cooked like a professional chef. My brother makes a lamb stew that's to die for... and the meat from Save More Meats has a lot to do with it! I recently purchased ground pork and beef for lumpia. One of these days I'll grind my own but the lumpia filling was beefier had great meat texture! Freshly ground and delicious! I keep coming back. Loooooooove this place!! I have been going here for years! Excellant quality. They will cut to order if they don't have it already out. The staff rocks,.. especially brothers Matt & Kevin.. it is their families store. Yes, they will give you advice on how to cook what you are buying.. great advice too! They also offer nitrate free hot dogs! Limited amounts of grocery items, produce. You're there for the fresh, high quality meats anyways so the other items are simply convenience items! Are you a hunter? They will butcher your meat for you! Knife sharpening services (or they used to, I think they still do) The value is superb! I have spent under $30 and gotten meats for a week for 4.. and a big bone for the dog!! My daughter loves their sour pickles! One of my favorite items are the "Stuffed Lamb Chops". I can understand hitting up the Farmers Market for other meat options (FM offers marinated meats). However, if I'm ever in the need for meat, I can go here and the owner or his staff will hook me up with super fresh ingredients. Definitely a fan! I've come here with the boy a couple of times, but didn't actually buy anything until a few days ago. The new guy who was helping us didn't really know a lot about the meat, but he told us he was new, and well, the owner was SUPER helpful and friendly. He definitely knows his stuff, and gave really good tips on what the boy wanted to make that weekend. There are also some pretty cool Asian/Hawaiian snacks/ingredients around the store. Aloha Shoyu&curry mix&panko bread crumbs. Oh, and he didn't have one of the meets the boy was looking for, and didn't hesitate at all to refer us to another butcher who did. Unfortunately, the other butcher was closed, but the fact that he cares about making his customers happy is a definite plus. read more

They sell frozen raw dog food about $3/lb either beef or chicken depending on what they have left over, has a mix of veggies and rice. The pork ribs I got did not need any brine good meat to bone ratio turned out great. The skirt steaks are my fav for the grill and BBQ guests, NY strip steak cut are thick and good marblization. I waited in line standing 6 feet away from the person in front of me. I have this Asian worker ask me what I want in an unfriendly manner and I tell him I need a minute to look at what's available. The guys were super helpful in trying to help me figure out how much pork belly to buy for this Chinese dish I was attempting to make. This is an establishment with a very knowledgeable owner. My girlfriend and I asked hard questions about how their meats were raised and slaughtered, and they were very frank and friendly with their answers. Even more straightforward than the Rancher's website. The owner, Mr. Lee, is very helpful and informative. Being new to cooking entirely on our own, he told us how to prepare each specific kind of meat and how each type of meat is best used. He also threw in some free soup bones for us one time when he learned we were trying to make a vegetable beef soup. Before that, I never knew that the bones are what give stock the beefy flavor. Mr. Lee also frequently offers to cut the meat up to what you're about to prepare. Makes life a lot easier. We live in Mountain View now and we still travel up to Pacifica just to buy meat from Save-More-Meat. They deserve the business. Our only regret? They're closed on Sundays. read more

I buy my dog food here. Fabulous mix!!! They are courteous, fast and always take the rather large box I order 2 x a month to my car for me. My dogs are incredibly healthy and happy with their food and is is only 1/2 what I pay for dry dog food. Their meat is always fresh and tasty also. I LOVE great customer service! I LOVE great food! Most importantly I LOVE my dog! What do these things have in common?! They were all factors in my rating. I've heard good things about Save-More but not until another Yelper suggested going there, did I finally decide to give them a try. The store is very clean and well kept. Customer service is on point as well. You feel almost like your a welcomed guest, which is cool. Now the first time I visited I had the Korean Beef ribs & I have to say I wasn't impressed @all. I've been eating Organic/Grass fed meats for over a year and there is a big difference in flavor, quality and texture to me with non organic/grass fed meats. This isn't a negative thing because the great thing about people is we all have different taste. What I did love and my dog LOVESSS..is their fresh raw dog food. Yes, I'm one of those owners who see's his dog as a extension of the family. So it's nice to be able to buy and cook fresh dog food for the special member of our family. So to all of those pet owners that loves their pooch as much as I do, head over to Save More Meat Mkt and pick up some of that awesome dog food. Old school independent and local butcher. These are guys the real deal. Sam Franklin would be proud. They are everything you would expect and want from a butcher. Knowledgeable, friendly and good prices. You actually talk to real butchers. It's not like Safeway where you feel like you are being a pain in the ass if you have any questions or need help. They are able to accommodate our special request for very specific cuts of meat and give us advice on how to use it with our turn spit. Haven't tried it year but they also sell scraps for dog food. read more

My parents use to buy our meat here when we were living in Pacifica (I was about 4 or so) and now, they live in San Ramon and Dixon and STILL make it a point to come here for that craving for "tapa". Granted they don't come as often due to the distance but we sure are faithful to Matt and Kevin. I'll likely be by sometime next week to come buy 20lbs of stuff for my parents lol... Weird. Great service. I asked about hanger steaks and was taught all about them, shown the untrimmed chunk of beef before he butchered it up. Delicious, can't get any fresher than that and very low cost. I've bought lamb and beef here so far, quite a few cuts. They buy whole animals and cut them down in-house. read more

I come to the HMB/Pacifica area 2-3 times a year, and I always bring an empty cooler when I do - so I can fill it up with their wonderful meats! The money I spent here yesterday went further than what I can do at Safeway, Nob Hill or even Costco - and with better quality meat. The freezer is nicely stocked The short ribs are phenomenal and they have great brisket. Soup bones to make bone broth, meatier ones too for soups. Pork roast, plus various beef roasts. Next time I'm there will be to get some awesome ribeyes, and beef ribs if available to throw in the smoker. Also some ground lamb to make grape leaves (dolmas). They have everything I've needed so far and conversation with these wonderful gentleman butchers always leaves me a bit more educated than when I walked through the door. I would be here a couple times a week if I lived closer. read more

All, This place is great! I called at 4:55 (they had to close early on this Saturday for a family reunion), and explained my needs for a quick impromptu BBQ. The fellow on the phone waxed enthusiastic about the cuts of meat that he had for sale, and he asked me to come on down (he stated that he would keep the store open for me). Impressed, I drove down. Even though these hard-working folks were mopping up the store in preparation to going home, I was greeted with a friendly smile and a "Hello!". I'm not sure if it was Matt or Kevin (previously referenced) that I spoke with, but he sure was helpful. I got almost 4 lbs of carne asada (delicious, btw), perfectly sliced (wafer thin, the way it's supposed to be) and ready to grill! On top of that I got two ginormous steaks. Did I mention the low prices? All of this yummy delish meat (sorry, vegans) for the low price of about $30. Grilling the meat was easy, and my family loved it! Delicious! This was my first time there, but definitely not my last. Even though many people might consider Pacifica to be a hole-in-the-wall city (or blue-collar shantytown, if you prefer) , it's quite refreshing to see that such gems exist here in the retail landscape. read more

The guys were very friendly behind the counter, but when I looked at the display, it appears all the meat was either from Harris Ranch or Foster Farms. It's very similar to going to a deli and all they have is Boar's Head. Did they just go to Costco and unwrap it for the case? I'm still on the lookout for a real butcher. read more

This place is good. We needed a whole rabbit to make a Christmas rabbit pasta. We went to several specialty markets in the peninsula area and they did not have any. We stopped here by chance on the way back home and I am glad we did. This place had it! Its very reasonably priced too. We got our rabbit (frozen, but still good) and we also bought a block of beef tripe. This tripe was much better/cleaner than the stuff we find at R99 and MOM. They also have all kinds of spices and stuff to cook with your meat, even Asian spices. The staff is very friendly and the customer service was good. read more

This place is out of the way for us, but their meats taste so much fresher and better than anything you can get at Safeway. Their oxtails are so delicious! We also love their steaks. Best butcher that I know of in the Bay Area. The owners are terrific - very friendly and informative and we can always get what we want. They'll order unusual meats too. Prices are a whole lot cheaper than some of the fancy-pants butchers in the City, but expect to pay more than at a supermarket. The selection of meats are impressive and you can actually tell the difference in quality compared to other chain supermarkets (no offense intended because I also shop there too). I really love this meat market. The family that own and runs the store are so helpful, accommodating and provide wonderful customer service. Anytime we buy meat it is from this store and they will also special order cuts for us. I didn't give 5 stars because the meat store smells so much like meat it can be overwhelming.
