I love this store. I pretty much get all my work shirts here. They always have shirts that look brand new - for about half the price. There is one down side I have noticed lately. they are getting kind of high-priced ... considering that everything is donated... Used to be things cost about a tenth what you would buy new. I am a fan of Savers. And yes, I do love thrifting. So if you are someone who is opposed to that in general, you may still not be thrilled with Savers. But I do feel like for those people who may have had some bad thrift store experiences in their past -but they are wanting to revisit the idea - Savers might be the first place to acclimate. The things I like and appreciate about Savers: * Store is organized by department with signs * Clothing is organized by both style of garment, size, AND somewhat by color * Prices are reasonable * Employees are nice I love the convenience of never needing to fight for a parking place (the lot has ample spots). I've rarely waited in much of a line when checking out. If a line does form, they will normally call up another cashier. They even have sales & a punch card. So yeah, I really am a Savers fan. I feel they have helped me out of many a last minute purchase scenario. And I hate shopping. So the fact that I can tolerate a place speaks volumes. read more

I have liked this place for a couple years and today's visit did not let me down. I brought over a couple of huge armloads of clothing to get rid of. The convenience is outstanding. The "back door" is to the left of the main entrance. Ring the bell and they come right out to get your stuff, they hand you a discount card and a receipt for you to fill out yourself for your tax doantion value, whatever you think that is. Next I went in to shop and I picked up a really pretty, large, white milk glass bowl, a real metal egg basket, and a couple of trendy t-shirts, all for under $20. Standard Savers. A bit smaller perhaps, but still a huge amount of clothing. Housewares section small. No real standouts. Clean and well lit. They did have a huge Elmo fish body pillow. read more

Not a fan of the clientele, biddies that yack about nothing and won't move, leave their carts in the aisles, and try on stuff at the checkout. Found a few deals. Excellent selection of ties, lots of scarves and purses, belts overpriced. Cashier didn't even look at me or interact. Seemed like she hated her job. read more

There are thrift stores, then there are thrift stores. Savers gets my 5-star rating because the clothing is organized by size, then by color, which makes is SO much easier to find what you want. Call me OCD, but I wish other stores would organize their merchandise this way. There is a large selection of clothes here for everyone in the family, from infants to adults, and terrific prices. There's also a section for books, home decor, shoes, and toys. Take note: when you buy, you can only exchange the item within 7 days of purchase. Otherwise, you're out of luck and stuck with the item. read more

It's like a GIANT indoor garage sale...with dressing rooms! This place is a whole lot more organized and clean then most thrift store and if you know your size you can actually find it because the clothes are organized by sizes! i always find a treasure there. read more

4.5 stars Long story short: Wonderful thrift store that doesn't feel ghetto! Long story long: Back in LA, I actually didn't mind going to Ross to do some "thrift" shopping. I even went to the Salvation Army store once or twice, but I mean, it's the Salvation Army store... anyway. However, here in Kansas City, there is no such thing as Ross. I jumped here on Yelp and looked up thrift stores. I didn't necessarily want to go to the Goodwill store either, but this came up and I made a mental note to give it a try some time. One day I decided to go clothes shopping. Basically what my plan was in moving to KC, was bring some clothes out with me, buy some clothes out there, then whenever I went home to LA, bring back the clothes I had originally brought, so I didn't have to worry about packing clothes when I went back and forth. Because the weather was still on the warmer side, the first time I went, I went with getting a bunch of t-shirts in mind. The store is, just as is any clothing store, organized with most of the store being a women's clothing store, then in one little corner, you've got the men's section. Then so on from there with shirts and pants. You all know what I'm talking about. I went to the t-shirts and had to go through the entire XL section and managed to find probably 5 t-shirts. I made my way to the jeans section because I only have one pair of jeans and I had been meaning to get a 2nd. I found a pair I like and put it in my pile. I did consider about the upcoming winter season (yes, for those of you in LA, Kansas City has SEASONS) and browsed to see if there were any wool sweaters. I found a couple I liked and headed for the changing room. They had a sign that said a 6 item limit, but I had like I think 8 or 9. I asked one of the employees and they said to go on ahead. I guess it's more of a "guideline" than "policy". I tried everything on and I think I put one thing back. I liked the sweaters. One was a J Crew 100% lambs wool, and the other was also J Crew, a wool pleated half zipper pull over. Both seemed to be in good condition and didn't have any holes or snags or anything. The t-shirts were the same. A couple of them were a little faded, but I didn't mind. When all was said and done, I got 5 t-shirts, 3 sweaters (including a Banana Republic fine Italian merino wool sweater), and a pair of jeans for a little over $40. The sweaters each were like $11-13!!! If I paid retail at the store, I'd pay at least probably 3-4 times as much for them. I've been back a couple of times and I've managed to find some decent stuff. I needed a costume to work Ren Fest. Got a retired one here from someone else, for about $10. The costume was made by a real costume company and pretty comfortable. They also have tons of NEW Halloween costumes at that time of the year. Other than that I regularly donate at Savers. read more

This is a particularly nice store in a great location. Used to be a Big Lots and before that a pet store. Large and very clean. A few years ago, Savers actually saved us. The wife and I went camping in Minnesota in early May and thought we were prepared for the cold. One night proved we weren't. Enter the Duluth Savers where we found more blankets, extra coats, and additinal clothing which made the rest of the two week vacation bearable. I do have a coupla complaints though. It used to be that everyday, one tag color of merchandise was half off. They discontinued that a few years ago. Now they have a coupla of days of the year around holidays where just about everything in the store is half off, but their website doesn't list when those days are. Here's a tip: If you donate items in the big red bins near the door, an associate will give you a coupon for 20 percent off your next purchase. read more

As far as thrift stores go, I really like Savers. It doesn't smell funky and has a good selection. They have knick-knacks and books to the right when you walk in, which I think are organized well. The furniture and electronics are at the back of the store. When I first moved here I got a T.V. for 12 bucks!! Awesome!! The clothing is hit-or-miss, which is expected with the average thrift store. But the prices are really good so I think that is a big plus. I hate when thrift stores are overpriced for no reason. read more

I'm a single mom on a budget so thrift stores are my thang. This is one of the best because it's well organized, feels clean, the clothes are in good shape (rarely do you find tears, holes, stains, etc) and the selection is awesome. If you donate a paper bag of items you'll receive a 20% off coupon, which helps offset their oh so slightly higher prices. You can also get a stamp card (fill it w stamps, one per donation and/or each $5 you spend) which will get you 30% off. TONS OF Halloween costumes. read more

If you like thrift stores, you need to visit Savers. When you first walk in the store, you'll think that you're in a retail store. Unlike some other thrift stores, Savers is well organized and all clothing is sorted by size. Savers is a bit more expensive than other thrift stores -- but the ease of shopping makes it worth the trip. I guess I prefer buying from a thrift store that's affiliated with a non-profit -- but I'd still give Savers a high rating. read more

Finally made it here last night (I live in the northland and don't make it to this end of town as often as I'd like). This is one of the nicest thrift stores I've seen in KC. It's clean, fairly organized and the workers seem like they care about working there. Prices are slightly higher than most of the thrift stores I frequent but the quality of merchandise is leaps and bounds beyond the other places. read more

Me and the wife love thrift stores, this is her favorite sa the selection is good and its off the highway a bit.

I love trolling for deals. I do not mind digging. Savers has made this job easy. It's clean, organized, big and has everything one may need. The selection of purses/wallets was fantastic. I also loved the bags of misc stuff organized by type (ie bags of kitchen things, bathroom things, sewing things, toys). Some items made me raise my eyebrow on the price which is the only reason that I did not give it 5 stars. There are also sewing patterns, which is fantastic for those of us who love all things old, vintage and do it yourself. I'm still sad I didn't get the Holly Hobbie sleeping bag (because really, that is just awesome), but what I did come away with was money very well spent. read more

I have loved this place for several years. I visit this store a couple of times a month. It's clean and organized. Having said that, I am writing this review because over the last year, I have noticed a dramatic increase in their prices. A sweater I once paid 2.99 for, is now 9.99?!? They also used to give coupons or stamp a discount punch card for discounts, which they don't seem to do anymore. I brought in a tiny bag of clothes and received 3 punches on my frequent shopper card. Next time I brought in 3 HUGE bags full, and I received the same 3 punches. Some days they wont punch the card at all. But mostly, I am voicing my disgust at the obvious price hikes in the last year. Savers, you are a thrift store so please don't try to be something you aren't. read more

I have been to 2 savers stores. This one on 95th Street and the new one on Shawnee Mission Pkwy. Both are teeming with all kinds of wonder-groovy-mous stuff! They have a great section for plus sized women's clothes which truly supersedes pretty much any other thrift store out there. They have fitting rooms but have to complain a teeny bit about that. No place to sit to put your shoes back on. All their stuff is set out in marked areas for size. They really have some of the nicest clothes there with many big name brands as well as lesser brand names. I didn't go look at everything because I was afraid I would find things to buy that I didn't need...but REALLY Liked and wanted. ( I know myself way too well ). In the early afternoon they really don't have enough checkers out...so check out time can be somewhat lengthy. Wish they had a "speedy check out" for 10 items or less. That would be very helpful. As an Owner of a thrift store myself, I have to say that they set the bar pretty high for us in the second-hand store community! I am not the reviewing type, am a pretty patient person, and also understanding; however, my trip to Savers merits a review because I was so disappointed. All other times I've visited have been pleasant and filled with good deals. I went in today to buy some Halloween gear and apparently was not the only one with that idea. Having said that, I expected to wait in line, no big deal. There was one checker who was either new or just worked slowly, that's okay too. What wasn't okay was the fact that the line had gotten about 10 people deep and the, I'm assuming, manager was just standing around and proceeded to move behind a cash register only to count money. When a customer asked if she could open another lane she was very aloof and said she didn't have another cashier. I understand she has jobs to complete as well, but a manager who is a team player would notice the looming line, put her job aside for a second to help the other cashier who, I am sure, was overwhelmed with the growing line, which wouldn't help anyone's performance. I've worked retail, I know staffing can be tricky, but this manager couldn't have cared less about the happiness of the customers. I made the decision to leave because it wasn't worth sticking around for another 20 minutes to spend $10. I enjoy this store and trust that future trips will show more of a concern for the customers and helping fellow staff members as opposed to completing ones own tasks at the expense of the integrity of the store. read more
