Came for a day date with my boyfriend. We enjoyed the quaintness of the property and vineyard. We grabbed a bottle from the little barn/house and sat outside at a nice table and sipped on our wine. We ordered a red & white. Very peaceful. Open on weekends only 12-6PM and live music on Saturday. Really a hidden gem! read more

On the way to Woodbridge center we found this place. Very nice. Lots of parking, solid wines . Nice atmosphere.

A very good friend was the entertainment at Savino Winery one nice summer day, so I grabbed Writer Friend and headed down to Woodbridge. The selections of wine is about the average for a smaller vineyard, and we sampled almost all of them (we each got a tasting flight of different varieties) and we were impressed with them all (we both liked the Rosso di Casa so much, we bought a couple of bottles - a full-bodied red with lots of fruity notes but not a lot of tannins). While there's inside seating, the outside area is very nice--a patio with several small (4-seat) tables (we lucked out and found one right near where my friend was playing) with grape vines growing overhead, and a good number of larger tables set up on the lawn. Since it was a gorgeous day, just about every seat was filled. They offer two snacks, an antipasto and a charcuterie (we had the antipasto, since they sold out of the other), which is large enough for two. Please remember to clean your tables when you're done! So, a beautiful day in a beautiful setting with great music. It was a perfect afternoon! Recommended! read more

This is a very cute vineyard, a little off the beaten path. The parking is a little tight but ample with room for lots of cars. The tasting room is a little small comparative to other vineyards in the area, but the vintage cash register gives it a classic feel. I had no problem with service, the barista was very tolerant as I tried to decide which wine to by as gifts. There is something about the design of the bottles which speaks to me - it's the same design with different colors, very Andy Warhol - and it definitely pushed the rating up an extra star. read more

My second least favorite winery on the CT wine trail. It's has a cute interior and nice back deck. That is the only nice thing about it. Service was awful. Tall dark haired woman, who I had seen there before was the worst. She kept talking over us to our server so that she could show her pictures on Facebook. Are you freaking kidding me??? You have paying customers that cant get service because you want to sit and BS with your girlfriend. And we were the only 4 people in the place!! She was rude and seemed annoyed that we were there. This is my second time going, first time only got a stamp, and she was rude then too. The wine is not great. I like both dry and sweet wines, these were all dry, 5 reds and 1 white. Best part of the tasting is that its 10 bucks. I would not recommend stopping unless you just need a stamp in your passport. read more

Cute little winery! Offers a good selection of wine but a lot of them are either very tart or sweet. Their Cabernet is very good. In the summer they offer nice outdoor seating with tables, umbrellas, picnic tables, and games. Also have wine slushies which you can select which wine it's made with. They provide complementary cheese, meat, and cracker plates with a tasting/glass. Both times I've visited there was not a ton of people which was nice because you can actually find a place to sit and chat with a friend over a great glass of wine! read more

This vineyard was a pleasant surprise during a recent weekend Connecticut Vineyard excursion. I had never heard of Savino Vineyard but thanks to my trusty Connecticut Wine Trail Passport we realized that we were "close by" while trying to make a quick exit from Paradise Hill Vineyards (sorry, not a fan). Thanks to GPS and the trusty Connecticut Wine Trail blue and white signage we had no problem finding are way. The grounds were well kept but I could not tell if visitors could walk around the property with a glass of wine in hand. It also did not look like there was any outdoor seating but I might have missed this. Even though we were told that the vineyard has been effected by the recent batch of storms (Sandy and Nemo) my husband and I would have been unable to tell had we not asked. It will be interesting to see how this effects their future wine production The tasting room is neither large nor small. and has only been open since 2012. We moseyed up to the wine bar and were happy that there were bar stools to sit on while we got our "tasting on" . For $7 were poured a selection of 6 wines. We only tasted one white (a 2011 Bianco di Cassi) which was "ok" and did not knock my socks off. If you like reds, however, this is the place for you as the remainder of the tasting consisted of tasting a 2011 Rosso di Casa (their house blend), Cabernet Franc (2010 and 2011) and a Merlot (2010 and 2011). I am not a huge red wine drinker but I do like a nice Merlot and when they served the wine with a piece of dark chocolate the pairing was a pleasant surprise. Needless to say - a bottle made its way back to the car. Another pleasant surprise and a nice touch was that we were given a small dish of EVOO (which the owner brings back from Italy) with a dot of Balsamic Vinegar that was accompanied by a plate containing a small piece of Gran Pannao, Salami and a cracker. This was unexpected. They also have a wine, EVOO and Antipasto tasting ($12.95) but sadly it was not available that day. Some very nice touches that were unexpected and , which was awesome wine tasting was $7 and we were given a selection. A very friendly and hospitable staff. I have a feeling Mark and will be back for the Antipasto tasting in the future and to hopefully meet the owner and check out the grounds. read more

A winery in my own backyard - awesome! This is a cute, tiny 3 table and a small bar tasting room. $5 for tastings and you get to keep the glass and the pours are generous. 2009 and 2010 grapes yielding 5 different bottles ranging in price from $14.99 - $18.99. These include a Seyval Blanc, St. Croix, Frontenac, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The white was dry with hints of grapefruit which I enjoyed. You can also buy by the glass for $6.00. Mr. Savino designed the label which has a rooster on it which brings luck. Very friendly and welcoming staff and glad we can support local business. They are expanding their tasting room and will add cheese plates. Open through December it is worth checking out. read more

Second stop on the Southern leg of the CT Wine Trail. The wine itself and the location in itself was not very memorable. It's a small bar, empty on the day we went other than some loud drunk girls drinking at the bar. Had it been packed they may not have seemed quite as loud. There were 2 women working/hosting. One large "solid" woman seemingly of Eatsren European descent, with personality of a fed up highschool bus driver. We requested the wine tasting and the antipasto plate. She poured us each a glass of wine, placed a saran wrapped cheese and salami plate and disappeared. umm ok..wow. When she left we kind of laughed at her abrubtness and shock of the ridiculous antipasto plate. It wasn't until the second lady, very polite and friendly, informed us that our antipasto plate would be out shortly and she completed the tasting for us. She was informative, sweet and kind and then the antipasto plate come out. now THIS was an antipasto plate. Fantastic! This is what brought them from a 2 to a 3. You won't come here for the view or the atmosphere but if you're looking to get stamps for your passsport.. definitely stop in for a tasting and the antipasto plate! read more

This is a small vineyard, but worth the trip. Like many other vineyards, the setting is stunning and a nice way to relax and unwind. We did the tasting and were pleased with all of the wines. The crackers and cheese in between each tasting were an added bonus. I wish the tasting had one additional red, or included the rose, but overall the tastings were good. After the tasting, I enjoyed a full glass of rose while we sat outside on a warm November afternoon. We made it here just before the end of the season this year, but we intend to be back again when they re-open in 2018. read more

Last visit we did a tasting with wine and cheese and we were disappointed with the plate, it seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. Connecticut, you have wonderful things to offer. You have the beautiful fall colors, delicious pizza, views of Long Island sound, beautiful historic towns, and much more. One thing you do not: Wine. The climate in Connecticut is far too humid and cold for any grapes to grow properly, and the wines do not taste as they should. My in-laws had heard about this place and thought it would be fun to try. The location of the winery is lovely - it is tucked away in a woodsy area, with beautiful vines to the right. The place is a tiny little shack, with comfortable seating surrounded by bright yellow walls. They gave us cheese, crackers, and salami to munch on, which is definitely wise when you're tasting wine and have to drive after. The lady that helped us was friendly and told us about the wines being offered. From the first glass, it tasted like vinegar, and smelled so bad we could not even take a sip. The wines continued to smell and taste like vinegar or a bottle of wine gone bad. None of us drank any of it, and the lady never came back over to us, probably knowing we didn't like it. I wish she would have come over and asked us how we liked the wine, and at least we could have tried other options. The wineries in CT are beautiful, but the wine does not deliver. read more

I really liked this place. It's small but nicely appointed. The tasting was relaxed. They even had bar stools. Only one white wine but the Reds were light and not overly dry. They had a fabulous antipasto and gave you cheese crackers and salami with your tasting. The only down side was that bottles could not be purchased and opened on the premises. Not really a big deal. I love wineries. This is a small and modern place. There aren't many wines there. When we were there they pretty much had only reds. They were just ok. They served us a nice cheese and meat dish but on a paper plate which we thought it could have been at least glass plate. The staff is very nice and I liked how that back wall opens up to allow yourself to enjoy the outside. But besides that I think I'll pass on grabbing their wine again. read more

Savino has a tiny little tasting room- you could easily drive by if you're not paying attention. The interior is simple and bright, with an L shaped bar and small seating area. Although the tasting was brief, with little to no information given about each wine we tasted, the staff was pleasant and the wine was A-ok. They have a few tasty reds that are on the lighter side, and I may have stayed to enjoy a glass if I had more time to spend. I liked that the tastings included a small plate of cheese, crackers, and salami, and that you keep your glass, all for $7. Not bad, not bad at all. read more

Rather poor. My party of 4 all agree, not worth going to and certainly not worth going back. We did a tasting. 1 white and 5 reds. All the Reds tasted the same. Normally the pourer or host would explain each wine. The only thing he said was, "Notice the color compared to the previous". Maybe he could not explain because he kept shoving pretzels in his mouth while pouring. read more

I came skeptically, as I saw the low reviews. I had a great experience and think it's a lovely, small winery that is underrated. The views and small outdoor patio are lovely. The inside is also small but has a nice atmosphere. The wine is very good. We brought our snacks, cheese, fruit & crackers and had a very nice afternoon here. This is a small vineyard with very dry wine. The only good wine they offer somehow, is not included in their tasting. They are fairly expensive as far as Connecticut wineries go. And worst of all, only allow you to purchase bottles"to go". Forcing you to pay restaurant prices by the glass. A somewhat off-putting method a few vineyards use to markup wine, where most allow you to purchase bottles at regular price to drink on the premises. read more

horrible experience!!! First of all I'm not sure what the owner was thinking having someone soo rude behind the bar!!! She was reading the ads froma newpaper while guests were in the winery.. So, unprofessional... We were going there to enjoy a bottle of wine and hand in our passports... Needless to say they informed us that they can sell us a bottle of wine but we can not open it there.. But they can sell us a seven dollar glass o f wine !!! We will never go back there!! I feel bad for the owner.. If I were him I'd get rid of the trash behide the bar and maybe things will look up!! The owner is a nice man but..Would recommned this winery only if you are in need of a stamp!! we left and went to out favoroite winery Paradise Hills!!!! read more

Poor customer service. My sister, girlfriend, and I went here for a tasting over the weekend and each paid $7.00 for a tasting that INCLUDED a souvenir glass. We were served the wine in plastic cups, even though two girls that came in after us were served their tastings in regular glasses. I still can't figure that one out. When we finally paid for everything, I brought it up and instead of saying hey folks, sorry we temporarily out of them, we'll charge you say $5.00 for the inconvenience, they told us to come back for the glasses at a later day. Even though we told them, my girlfriend and I were from NJ and wouldn't be back in the area, they still wouldn't do anything for us. So we paid for a souvenir glass that we never got. Poor customer service. If you run a business, you have to accommodate your customer. Ever hear of repeat business. This left a bad taste in all our mouths and won't be back because of it. read more
