My favorite bakery in Rochester area. Ive been going here since I was a child. My favorites are the tea cookies and liaf of bread. But everything is so good and fresh. The display cases are always full. During Easter time we make a trip for thier Easter bread and Zeppoli. Customer service is always excellent. I had heard a lot of good things about this bakery locally, so I decided to order some pastries from it. I can't say what the atmosphere was like. I got the pasticiotti, sfogliatelle, pastelillo, and Napoleon. They were packed perfectly and neatly. My favorite was probably the pastelillo - it was small, flaky and had a nice guava filling. I liked the sfogliatelle and the pasticiotti, but the custard ended up being quite heavy. The Napoleon was not my preference at all. It was sickly sweet and the pastry was soggy; I honestly could not finish it, which is rare. Overall, I would recommend the pastelillo and maybe the sfogliatelle. read more

The bread is always fresh and delicious. The girls at the counter are very nice. They always give my kids some extra attention and are so patient. The line usually wraps around the inside of the shop, so plan for a short wait on the weekend. The Italian cookies are amazing. We recommend the raspberry, chocolate meatballs, and of course, Neapolitans (original are my fav, but the 6year old likes the birthday cake flavor). There are other Italian bakeries in town, but Savoia is probably my favorite. My wife recently had a baby shower and ordered a two-tier cake from Savoia. We were really impressed with cake. We picked a custard and jam filling for each layer. It was delicious and also reasonably priced. My wife was quoted much higher prices from other bakeries. The other pastries are also delicious. This includes the sfogliatella and cookies. The service is also good. They gave us the wrong plate of desserts for the shower, so they actually sent a driver to drop off the correct plate at the venue and even told us we could keep the wrong plate if we wanted. Anyways, Savoia is a gem of an Italian bakery that everyone in Rochester should know about. read more

There literally are NO Italian bakeries like this place down south. Came here to get a cookie platter for a dental office and of course had to pick up a 1lb of Italian cookies for us to enjoy as well. So amazing. Not sure how much this place was years ago when we lived here but price seemed a bit steep but the quality is good. When you ask SPECIFICALLY for a red velvet cake with CREAM CHEESE FROSTING and SPECIIFICALLY tell them you don't like the sugary sweet frosting and to make sure it's CREAM CHEESE FROSTING. Then you get home only to find out there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHREAM CHEESE FROSTING ON THE CAKE and it's so sickening sweet you can't eat it. That's Savoia. I just love Savoia for desserts! I recently went and got the bread pudding, which my husband loves, and he's a picky eater! I also got the spinach and ricotta pastry, which are hard to find, but the pastry was nice and flaky, and the spinach filling was delicious. I also got two cake slices. One was an almond cake with almond and pecan filling with a chocolate drizzle. It was super moist, and that filling was very tasty! I got the coconut cake, which I always have and love, but this day, the slice was dry and day-oldish. I was disappointed with that. The best Italian bakery around. I have been going to this bakery since I was a little girl. My grandfather always would take me here and now I continue the tradition with my family. They have all kinds of baked goods to cure your sweet tooth. They have cookies, pastries, breads, pies, cakes and everything is always fresh. They do custom wedding and birthday cakes. Rum cakes are one of my families favorite birthday treat. My daughters favorite is the flourless chocolate cake. Parking can be alittle tricky so park on the side street. I needed a cake for my husband's birthday and found Savoia, and I am SO glad I did!! I ended up getting a chocolate peanut butter cake, and it was honestly one of the best cakes I have had! They also had a great assortment of other pastries and cookies. I stopped by after work, close to their closing time, but had no problem getting a cake, and thank goodness for that since I did not plan ahead .. whoops! But if you're better than I am at planning, you can order ahead from Savoia on their website too!! My only complaint is that I wish they stayed open a bit later! They're only open until 5:30 during the week, which makes it a bit difficult to pick something up on your way home from work..but that won't stop me from coming back! read more

I've been looking for an Italian bakery to fill the void in my heart that Neri's in Port Chester left in me now that I'm 6 hours away by car. Savoia seemed like a good place to start. The kaiser rolls are the BEST I've had in Rochester so far. They are perfectly soft without being spongy or dense--the perfect BEC vehicle. I would love to try more of the breads, but one can only justify so many carbs. The pastries are, from what I've observed, fresh and good looking. Both the filled pastries I tried, a Napoleon and a chocolate eclair, were filled with custard. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure others will enjoy. The integrity of the pastries was sound. The cakes are the big swingers--I brought a piece of the peanut butter and the raspberry mocha cake home for my girlfriend to try, and I snuck in a bite, too. Delicious! They're moist, flavorful, and not too dense or overpoweringly sweet. I also snagged a sprinkle cookie and a raspberry danish, both of which were up to par and fresh. Savoia is my #1 choice for all dessert NEEDS (and there are many!) I've utilized Savoia for: 1) picking up treats for a client or partner or work colleague. Nothing screams "I want to work with you" like some sweet sweet Savoia cookie action. I'll typically do the small to-go container of like 8 cookies for $3 or something bonkers like that. 2) any kind of shower: baby, bridal, daily (lol jk) - their pastries are always a smash hit. I've ordered cannolis and eclairs and everything in between. You simply cannot go wrong and they have the largest variety of any bakery in town 3) Other celebratory cakes! I've been to weddings with stunning Savoia cakes and have hosted birthday parties where the Savoia cannoli cake was the true star of the evening. The staff is so friendly and they are flexible in ordering times. Pricing is comparable to any of the other top bakeries in the city, and savoia's tradition of excellence goes without saying. The napoleons are not real at all... like they use cake in the layers instead of puff pastry which is bizarre.. and then the frosting on top had an off flavoring lemon or almond? Idk it just wasn't good compared to others I've had. I also go the raspberry chocolate mouse cake and that was really good. The cupcakes were good as well but had way too much frosting.. like double the amount of a "normal" cupcake.. overall for the high pricing I wasn't impressed. read more

The flourless chocolate cake is absolutely divine! So rich, dense and luxurious I couldn't finish the slice in one go. So chocolatey it would go perfectly with a glass of milk. Their cannoli are O.K. A little soggy because they are not filled to order but it still had great flavor. I really love that they enforced the mask wearing policy to protect their customers. They're green fondant on the outside with pink frosting on the inside, and an upside down vanilla cupcake. Omg, they are good!!! YUM!!! They are out around St Patrick's Day, and sometimes they have chicks at Easter and ghosts at Halloween that are the same idea; fondant on the outside and frosting on the inside. I've had frog cupcakes from other places and they don't compare. I seriously wait all year for them. Nom nom nom. They also have good Italian cookies, and their stuffed spinach and cheese bread is great. I love this bakery and have come here for many years and I have never been disappointed with anything I've gotten there. Their fresh Italian bread is always on my list! This time I also bought an eclair. Lots of thick custard filling and chocolate frosting on top. Never skimpy here and so delicious! Had my fresh slices of bread for dinner with just a bit of butter. Nothing else needed. A couple of weeks ago I had picked up their turtle cake for a party. I forgot a picture so I posted one partially blocked by glasses but I hope you can appreciate all the pecans on the side and generous chocolate buttercream frosting and trim. You can't see the creamy caramel pool on top of the cake. It was enjoyed by everyone at the party! Everyone raved about it. They keep many of their cakes freshly made and ready to buy. They bake their cakes throughout the day too. I didn't get any Italian cookies or cake rolls on this visit, but, I buy these often and have yet to find anything I haven't liked! Now the only thing bad is the traffic you will experience Sunday mornings because people flock there for their fresh bread Sunday morning and since there's only street parking it's a challenge! I don't what happened to this bakery. I've been buying their cookie cake cookies with the different colors of frosting for over 40 years. I bought 4 lbs each on 12/23/23 for my Christmas Eve party. They are absolutely awful. The frosting tastes terrible! It's not the flavors we have counted on year after year. They also have no prices posted this year so you have no idea how much you're paying per pound. The line setup inside was ridiculous. But I was willing to overlook all of that if the taste was the same thing my family counts on every year. But it wasn't. What a disappointment!!! read more

I used to live around the corner from here and my ex and I would walk our dog past at night and we'd stand under the vents to breathe in the frosting vapors. It smells incredible before you even enter. You walk in and immediately there is s wall of cakes and breads and pizzas and other baked goods. There's a case full of cakes and two cases of Italian cookies. My other beloved bakery in Greece closed so I had to find somewhere else to get my rainbow cookies. These are very good, not quite as moist but they made it fairly well across country shoved into a suitcase. I wish they wrapped their cookies in plastic not just tissue paper to keep them fresh like the other bakery did. I will say though the service was adequate but far from friendly. read more
