Came here on a beautiful Saturday after getting slammed with a NJ blizzard and this was a great treat! Got here around 2pm to an empty restaurant so it was nice for my overtired but refuse to nap toddler and my 9 month old daughter who refuses to sit still. Restaurant was very simple with tables along the left side and restrooms on the right. I wouldn't say it's a big place but it's a decent size. Since it was just us, we ordered right away. I got the birria tacos and my husband got the steak enchiladas. Holy birria those tacos were fantastic. The taco shells had just the right amount of crispy softness where it wasn't overly cooked to make it a hard shell. When you bit into it, the juices came out from the other side of my taco and the meted cheese was nice and stringy- if you know what I mean. The meat was cooked perfectly where it wasn't too dry and chewy. I drowned my tacos in the sauce they give you and housed my 3 tacos. It was the perfect amount where I was full after eating but not overly stuffed. My husband loved his steak enchilada. I tried a few bites and I loved the spicy kick to it...so if you're not a spicy eater, I'd skip out on this. It was the type of spice here you know the dish is spicy but it's not overpowering where I feel like my tongue and esophagus is on fire. My husband loved the little kick but was still able to enjoy the meal without wanted to eat a tub of ice cream. He also ordered the mango shake which was absolutely delicious. Super creamy and that mango sweetness was perfect. Our hostess was great- she talked of my daughter and made sure we were ok even though we were the only ones there! We ordered the grilled octopus appetizer, tacos, and flautas. We enjoyed the octopus -- i would definitely order again. The tacos were good, but nothing exceptional. Service is where it gets questionable. We did BYOB, and they handed US pint glasses for wine. We saw the next table, who came in after us, get served wine glasses without being asked. Further, our order got mixed up, and we didn't get what we ordered. Overall, I wouldn't say it is bad, but extremely awkward. The ambiance was small with plenty of seating. The service was very good. The waitress was very helpful, respectful and pleasant. My friend had a vegetable quesadilla with shrimp. There was plenty of food and she said it was delicious. I visited Mexico in 2018 and had Mole for the first time in my life and I fell in love with the dish, because of its richness, flavors, spiciness and decadence. Let me tell you I have been on a mission to find Mole with that exact flavor profile and have been let down time and time again! I have tried every Latino restaurant in the NJ and NY area and I could never get Mole dish that compares, until now. Tango's Mole tastes EXACTLY like what I had in a small town in Oaxaca MX I thought I would never find this ever in my life and I would just have to visit Mexico to get this again. Tango's taste is evident that they made this from scratch and put a lot of pride, culture and dedication in getting this right. I will never eat mole anywhere else but at Tango's. My go to is the Mole de pollo sometimes they are sold out of it but I end up with the enchiladas de mole Tip: Do not order the mole de pollo on any food delivery app, because the delivery person . Will spill all the food in the bag, 9 out of 10 times when I order the food is spilt in the bag due to the delivery person not putting one hand under the container to support it. Otherwise to that the food is sooooo amazing. So I went to this restaurant today for lunch. I was walking by and saw menus on the tables outside. I looked to see if there was something that looked appealing. I decided on a taco salad which was $15 on the menu. I ordered and waited. I was called to purchase my food and the price was 19.19. Since when is tax $4 on a $15 meal. It's not. When I mentioned it to the staff, they said that I looked at the wrong menu which was on all of the tables in front of the restaurant. When I mentioned that these menus were on all of the tables, the man in the front walked away. No wonder the place was empty at lunch time. I am new to the area so I was giving it a try. I got my food, the taco salad had what seemed like canned corn and black beans. The chicken was slathered in hot sauce, like Franks Red Hot. I won't be returning. read more

Tango is a local restaurant on Main Street. We went on a Saturday night and didn't need reservations. Ample space and tables available. It came highly recommended by friends. I would rate the food as average- some better than other. The nachos were fantastic- warm, loaded and they will adjust the spice level upon request. The guacamole was made fresh and excellent. Birria Tacos are a specialty but I was underwhelmed with it. The same with a few other dishes that we tried. I am not sure I would go back. The staff is attentive and prompt. Service is quick. My god I was not expecting the food here to be so good. It's hard to find great Mexican food this far north but Tangos had me dancing left and right with their fresh, delicious food. It really tasted like everything was made from scratch. The "Mole de camarones" had a slight grittiness to it that made it seem like the ingredients had just been ground up. It was spicy, I'm clearly not cut from a premade sauce. The shrimps were enormous! Overall the dishes were well worth the price. In an area where everything is upcharged for no reason, every dollar spent at Tangos is well worth it (on the flip side, the tamale is an absolute steal. $3 for something that tastes like a loving grandmother made it. Honestly the BEST tamale I ever had). Oh god now I'm remember the shrimp tacos. Most refreshing tacos I've ever had. 100% recommend. Of course, the service was excellent too. Dinner here last night. Overall pretty good! Family owned which is always nice. We sat outside though the inside seems nice as well. Complementary Chips and salsa were good! Salsa was spicy! Which I like but my fiancé does not so be warned there. For the apps we got the steamed clams mixed in a red sauce with chorizo, peppers and onion. Very good and size able clams! We also split a tamale. It was good, but a bit on the spicer side. I got the Chimichurri steak - cooked medium. That was solid as well - rice and beans were great. Ordered the nachos and birria tacos. For Birria tacos food was very bland which is surprising. The nachos-asked for literally just steak, Pico, quac and cheese. This place lacks flavor and sazon. It's expensive for the food quality and taste that they served. There are more restaurants that are worth your money and time in the area than this place. We had the burritos which aren't a tough item to make. Their mixture of veggies, rice, and carne asada made for a poor flavor combination. The carne asada lacked salt and tasted like a piece of rubber. Everything else was average. Maybe their lunch specials are better than their dinner choices. read more

We stopped at Tangos because we went to a different place nearby and no one came out from the back to greet us or ask us what we wanted!!! So we walked a few doors down and popped into Tangos! We have eaten there once before and it was delicious! The owner is so kind, will answer any question about the food, and they had one of my FAVORITE rarities - vegetarian tamales!!! I am thinking of ordering a takeout of a dozen to have in my freezer because tamales are TERRIFIC and veggie ones are the best as far as I'm concerned... my husband had a quesadilla that he loved; yes that salsa has the secret ingredient which makes it very tasty and the right amount of richness. The lady that took our order doesn't qualify to be called a waitress. Feel bad typing this. Not sure if she was having a bad day or it's just her personality. Have been meaning to try Tangos for a while now, Elias the owner, also own Phoenix Cafe across the street, which is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Elias is a great guy, so nice & extremely hard working so I had a feeling that Tangos would be a great place. Needless to say was nod disappointed in the least, as soon as we walked in the decor was nice, great music playing and the staff was super friendly. Last night was rainy and cool, the normal buzzing streets of Somerville on a Sunday night were fairly quiet, we had the place to ourselves, we did get there on the late side however. Nicole, our waitress, was super sweet, brought us drinks quickly as we looked over the menu & complimentary chips with salsa. Elias came by & was his usual friendly, happy self. We chose to share an appetizer of Coconut Shrimp, pounded flat, & pan fried, served on a bed of greens with a balsamic glaze. Honestly the best coconut shrimp I've ever tasted. I only wished their were more of them, 3 to the dish. I had the Chimichurri Steak, the skirt steak was cooked to my liking, medium rare, sauce was on the side, served with rice & black beans. Delicious, way too much for me to eat, took home for lunch though. My friend had Steak & shrimp, NY Strip with Jumbo Shrimp in a garlic sauce, also came with rice & beans, I had a taste, was also cooked to his liking & tasted great, nice char on the steak, very flavorful. No room for desert, maybe next time? Will definitely be back. There menu isn't huge, but has a nice variety of things for anyone to be able to eat there, meat lovers, vegetarian, or pescatarian. My boyfriend, his mom and I decided to try this place out today since it's Labor Day and most places around were closed. We were happy to find that this place was open since we were really hungry. I had their burrito last week and it was good! Today I had their Huaraches, O.M.G. So delicious, I wanted seconds! The chicken was cooked to perfection, with pinto beans, just the right seasoning, I have to say in my 10 years eating out in Somerville, this is by far my favorite Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant in Main St-Somerville. They advertise as Tex-mex but they definitely have authentic Mexican food as well done right. I wish I had taken a picture of my huaraches to post on here but I couldn't wait to eat it!!
