This place has the best Thai food I've ever had. Highly recommend. The service is always on point. The restaurant is bigger than it looks outside and is nice. However the restrooms could be better. But a lot of authentic restaurants tend to have them like that. While eating in the restaurant, it seems quite but being there you will see there are so many orders for take out. What a miserable experience. I placed a telephone order for an appetizer and two different curries, which---see photo---the Savory Thai website identifies as vegetarian (VG). When I picked up my order and made a remark along the lines of "it'll be the order with all vegetarian items," the staff member informed me that the curries were NOT vegetarian, since they contained shrimp/shrimp paste. I pointed out that this was not what the website or the printed menu said, and that at the very least, it would have been nice for the person who took my order to notice that I was ordering everything with vegetarian protein and to ask whether shrimp would be a problem. (I see that the owner likes to argue with people who leave bad reviews, so just in case he shows up to tell me that the "VG" didn't mean that ALL the curries were vegetarian, I'll also note that the staff member told me that NONE of them could be made vegetarian.) All I got was a smile and a "sorry." They charged me full price---and this place is not cheap---for food I couldn't eat, and didn't make even the barest attempt to smooth things over. The experience was infuriating for a vegetarian, but it could have been dangerous or deadly for someone with a shellfish allergy. If there's shrimp in the curries, they need to fix the website ASAP. I have been happily going to Savory Thai for over five years and have always had good to great food. However, yesterday my friend and I had a different experience. I ordered pineapple fried rice which is one of my favorites. It was almost too salty to eat. And had a couple of pieces of pineapple. My friend ordered glass noodle soup which tasted horrible. She had it replaced with won ton soup. It had no flavor so she sent it back! She also ordered the mango salad. It was okay but had no mango in it. My daughter has eaten here several times in the last thirty days in the evening and said it was excellent each time. Because of past experience I will probably try Savory Thai again. read more

We've been going here for years. This was our go to during COVID! We always try to support local businesses. The food is always good! The seating area is open and gives the feel of being on a vacation dinner, you're treating yourself! I think they are under new management, a family! What a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. I ordered the tom kha soup with tofu and chicken satay with peanut sauce. The soup was amazing, it was hot a so flavorful! We came at around 7 and it was empty not gonna lie i was like oh.... what could this mean? Lol but we were hungry for Thai so whatever let's try it. The walls are pink with knitted things on it (don't know the name) and the table have fake flowers that i think they got next door at Dollar tree. Ok ok enough talking s*** about the decor let's get down to the food. Options on options on options. All neatly and descriptive and PICTURES!!! We love menus with pictures. I went with the mixed vegetables and added chicken. I felt as if the portions were good. I didn't finish it so that must mean it was a lot lol. We also got the Tom Kha for the table. Yummy broth a tad bit too sweet but i love coconut. The Bf got curry which was Too Spicy but he said he liked it. He also got coconut ice cream and it was delicious!!!! Not too sweet and it tasted like fresh coconut and not that artificial crap. Mom in law got the spiced green beans as well as the sister in law. They liked it they said. I'd rate it a 1. I noticed the color was off immediately--it was beige as opposed to yellowish and didn't have any of the spice flecks or orange hues. It tasted creamy but lacked any actual flavor. It almost tasted like they forgot to add lime and lemongrass. Maybe it's just their recipe, but my husband and I stopped after a couple sips and will be throwing it away. Man, there's just nothing like California Thai food. Try as I might, after I leave the state of California, there is just nothing that can quite reach the flavor combinations that I crave like Thai food in the state of California. I'm not entirely sure what it is, it might be the unabashed embrace of what makes Thai food so good, including not being shy on heat, and focusing on balancing authenticity with bold flavor palates. When I feel like I want Thai food, I have to just push the feeling down because I know that nothing outside the state will give me the combinations that I'm craving. The good news is, well in southern California on my most recent trip, I found this place, convinced my mom to give it a try, and we both realized the exceptional offering in her backyard. I was stuck at home, playing nurse to my dog who was recovering from surgery, and had a Jones for some good Thai food. I knew that Thai place down the street that was terrible, and last time we gone there we had such a horrible experience (Thai One On). I expanded our search and found this gem, and was able to place our order through the Yelp app which made it super convenient and really fast. The estimated time to wait was less than 20 minutes which was phenomenal in my book. We ordered the Pad Woonsen, Pannang with brown rice, Tofu Spring Rolls, Garlic Broccoli and the Sticky Rice with Mango for dessert. Mom picked everything up, brought it home, and we dove in to see what we had in store for ourselves. The best thing by far was the sticky rice with mango. The mango was perfectly ripe, the rice was not too sweet, and the coconut sauce was equal parts silky and slightly salty which nicely offset the sweetness of the mango. I enjoyed every single bite, and I've been thinking about it since. The spring rolls were fresh, crunchy, very flavorful, with fresh herbs and were not overly cooked which is one of my pet peeves on spring rolls. Peanut sauce usually accompanies spring rolls and these were no exception, however the sauce was nicely accented by an underpinning of hoisin sauce and had a drizzle of sriracha on top for a kick of spice. The photos online of the garlic broccoli made it look like I was going to be receiving broccolini, however this was just regular broccoli with carrots and other vegetables. It wasn't bad, the seasoning was good, however I feel like the photo was a little bit misleading. Nevertheless, it was delicious and the veggies were perfectly cooked, not too wilted. My husband's favorite Thai entree is Pad Woonsen, so I always try to order some to see how it stacks up to what we think it should taste like. This one was decent, however was probably the least strong compared to the others in boldness and flavor profiling. I think it probably could have used a little bit more soy or seasoning sauce. From the looks of the photos online, the interior seems warm and inviting, with a bar and ample seating. They only downside to the ordering process was that my mom said the lady who she was speaking to when she arrived didn't understand her and had to find somebody in the back to sort out the communication issues. Nevertheless it was easy and efficient to place our order and she was out in a flash. After eating here for take out, I can't wait to return to eat in the restaurant and see what else wonderful they have to offer. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food, serving sizes are decent, and there are many offerings for people of different dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. This is what I think of when I think about Thai food, and will be wishing I had when I return to New England. read more

The food is legit good... well, everything but the Tom yum soup. Which wasn't spicy or sour or lemongrassy or had any kafir leaves. It was sweet, and the mushrooms weren't cooked all the way. Probably one of the worst... But the real good food is their entrees. The spicy basil chicken and curry was very delicious. The spicy basil level 7 was spicy, I liked that they keep true to the spice level. The curry was very flavorful. The price is a little too much in my opinion for Thai food. $15+ when normally it's around $10. Another thing we did not like about this place is that food took forever to come out. It literally took 30 minutes for our 2 dishes to come out, the place was not even full. Maybe 2 other parties. We will probably not dine in next time- order to go, but call ahead and plan for their long food wait. read more

Chose to have lunch here before going to the movies. Quiet, clean and surprisingly spacious. There were booths, regular tables and a wine bar. Decorations were simple and cute. There were pillows in the booths (nice touch, but they take up room on the seats). To start, we ordered: fresh spring rolls, calamari, and potstickers. The spring rolls were good. They had shrimp and tofu inside. The peanut dipping sauce was not what I expected. The taste was different from anything I've ever had. It was a bit salty and the peanut flavor was mild. There was another flavor coming through that I couldn't recognize (not a fan). The calamari and potstickers were basic, but cooked well. The main dishes we ordered were: Chinese broccoli, bbq pork, and spicy noodles. The brocolli dish was the best. It had a nice flavor and a good crunch. It wasn't overcooked at all. I love when you can still taste a vegetable and recognize what it is in a dish. The bbq pork was not like I thought it was going to be. It was cooked with coconut milk which didn't seem to compliment the pork at all. It tasted like an afterthought (like it was supposed to be marinated, but then added at the last minute). The pork didn't need that flavor; and despite the flavor, the meat was tender and juicy. The spicy noodles were good. It had a nice balance of spices and the heat was not outrageous. The staff was pleasant. Our server was a bit timid and soft spoken but friendly (maybe new and still learning). I had to ask for water refills. The brocolli dish was 5 stars. read more

This was the most disappointing Thai food I've had maybe ever. It's like they ran out of noodles. I ordered standard pad Thai and they packed the tray with so many vegetables and broken pieces of noodles. Like they ran out and scraped up whatever was leftover from another order. The food was bland, not seasoned right. Panang Curry again had way too many vegetables and not enough curry. Did they literally run out of food when I was there? This used to be our go-to Thai restaurant in the Oceanside/Vista area. I've been coming here since 2017. I went last night, but I actually didn't eat. We were seated by the host with menus, waited for 10 minutes, then left. In that 10 minute span, we were not brought any water, we were not even acknowledged. The place was not busy, it was just before 6:00 pm. There were 3 other tables of patrons, all of which had already been served food. This place is way too concerned with take out or food delivery service orders (Uber Eats, DoorDash). If that's the type of restaurant you want to be, don't serve customers inside. Just cater to food delivery services and take out orders. It's actually something I'm tired of overall with restaurants. I'm not a fan of any of the delivery services, but it seems people don't mind eating cold and chewy food (of any type) as long as it can be ordered on a smartphone and brought to your door, regardless if it's no longer any good. This is the second time in 6 month that I've had this experience here. I've learned my lesson, and I will not be back. read more
