Located inside the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in downtown Long Beach, the Savoury Fusion Grill provides a mix of American, Mexican, and Asian prepared meals for the varied clientele that are here at the courthouse. My wife and I have passed by this place maybe a hundred times, but was always heading somewhere. This time we needed to pass a little time while waiting for the nearby post office to open back up, so decided to try the small food court that is an offshoot of the courthouse. One can access it without having to go through the heavy security that is provided for protection when entering...instead the food court has doors leading directly to the outside (where there is also al fresco dining). The food court as of 2024 consists of a coffee shop (Coffee Bean), a national fast food shop (Subway), and two locally owned restaurants: one Mexican (Hacienda Franco) and one a Grill serving classics regardless of which culture it originated from. It is only open during the work week (M-F) when the courthouse is open. While my wife found us a place to sit, I ordered and waited for my food at Savoury Grill. It's not a high output operation...there were two people working there when I placed my order, and once the front of house went for lunch, the gentlemen who had prepared the food also boxed it for me as well. One really nice touch was when I asked for water, they provided it complementary in a boba tea container, including the plastic heat sealed film that the asian milk tea places provide. We got a lot of food for what we paid. The savoury wings basket ($9.95) consisted of 6 bone-in chicken wings (choice of sauce, with us choosing classic buffalo) with french fries at the bottom. The price for this was great, but the chicken was of poor quality....reminded me of the time when I bought cheap chicken wings from an Asian grocer and I had to make sure the skin had been completely defeathered before using. This wasn't the case here, but the wings still having the wing tips, along with miscellaneous crushed bones didn't make it the most appetizing. I also got the Hawaiian Fried Rice ($12.95). It had large chunks of Spam, pieces of pineapple, and small pieces of chicken. It's a popular dish in SouthEast asian restaurants, though I've never understood why it is significantly more expensive than other fried rice, just because you add some pineapple. In this case, the price was similar to the other fried rice....and they give you A LOT. It tasted good too. They do have Loco Moco on the menu, but was unfortunately out this time. It's a dish that I will definitely try next time...it would be a great thing to have a place this close to my home that serves one of my favorite dishes. read more

I am so glad I have this place a try! I ordered the loaded chicken fries and oh man they were sooo good! Service was great. The only problem I had was that I believe the owner was taking orders and also making them so it took a little longer than expected but I luckily had time and the food was soooo worth it. Its 2023, guys, and Savoury Fusion has a $7.95 burrito...and it's not. Breakfast burrito either. Granted, it's a non-traditional burrito that has lettuce in it, but it's good. I'm good with the lettuce filling. More fiber, more nutrients than a rice filler. Filling also includes beans. I ordered the asada burrito and it came with a side of salsa. I practically drink salsa, so I could have used more than the little cup they gave and I was too embarrassed to ask for more. LOL. If you are downtown and visiting the courthouse for whatever issue you may have, grab one of these value burritos. It's a decent full size burrito and totally worth the money. This place is only open during courthouse hours, so it's closed on weekends and does not serve dinner. So easy to forget about these establishments in the courthouse's food court, but this is definitely one to consider for office catering if you're downtown. read more

My coworkers and I frequent this place for lunch quite a few times! We usually phone order ahead during our walk and come pick up the food at the end of our walk because we work across from the court house. The husband and wife team is great! They are really nice people! I've only gotten salads here and they are usually pretty good and healthy! Their dressing is pretty good too even though I always ask on the side to portion control. Sometimes you want a no frills giant salad and this place fits that requirement. I love a good asian salad. For $7 you can have just that. I skipped the chicken, and got a big plate of greens, fried wontons and mandarin oranges. The salad dressing is a little more on the savory than sweet side, but I'd still get it again. They offer thai iced tea here, but it's more sweet and creamy and very light on the tea, so I'd skip that if you're looking for anything close to authentic. I want some semblance of caffeine so I think I'll try the 50/50 next time, which is half milk tea, half iced coffee. read more

I had a few unfortunate issues & I will not be going back. I ordered the chicken teriyaki combo & loco Moco plate. It was barely edible. The chicken & beef patty were so dry & overcooked. I didn't receive my drink or my egg rolls. There was a hair in the Loco Moco. That was disgusting. I called to let them know I never received my drink & they said they gave it to my driver. So my driver sucked too apparently. I regret tipping him 15%. I was told the enrolls were an old promotion, but agreed to refund my card the difference since it's still on his website menu. I have decided to give this place another try. I ordered the Loaded Fries with beef and I have to say it was not good. There was very little meat on the fries, and the cheese was even less. The "savory sauce" was just gross, it made the entire fish tastlike sweetened vinegar, if there is such a thing. They are located just outside of the Long Beach court house and have a very good assortment of breakfast and lunch item. They are very friendly and accommodating. I sometimes can be a little difficult to say the least when ordering and want to customize everything and the staff allows me to with no problem and constantly keep smiling the whole time. I have tried everything from burgers to breakfast sandwiches and their menu is amazingly tasty and diverse. My absolute favorite menu items are the Salmon Greek Salad and the perfectly cooked fries. I was so excited to find a Vietnamese fusion grill. We ordered crispy egg rolls, a burrito and a Walnut Raspberry Vinaigrette salad. After traveling to Vietnam for 20 days this past April, I have been seeking out the wonderful flavors of Vietnamese cuisine. I would rate the egg rolls a 3 out of 5. There was a hint of good flavor, but the overall taste was a frozen, out of the box egg roll. The Raspberry Walnut salad was disappointing- dark green lettuce was fresh, but overall, the Walnuts were absolute minimum, and basically I paid for a bowl of lettuce. Finally, the burrito also was cold, with very salty meat, also minimal. Mostly lettuce and can tasting beans. We were excited to try a newly opened grill/cafe with fusion taste. So I have come here before and it has been good, not amazing, not out of this world, but good. I have gotten the chicken sandwich, breakfast sandwich, and the chicken plate. Today I got the chicken plate with steamed veggies. The chicken was good, rice wasn't like it usually is, but it was good, but the veggies were awful. First of all, as you can see in the picture, there was a small hair in in. Secondly I got about 98% steamed cabbage that looked like it had been steamed for 24hrs.
