Our group of 17, including five kids ( 5 years and under), was looking forward to a relaxing weekend getaway in a cabin with beautiful views. What we got instead was a nightmare that started in the early morning hours of January 25, 2025. We checked in around 4:15 PM on January 24, full of excitement. But by 3:30 AM (Jan 25), we lost power. It was pitch dark, and we were left scrambling to find anything we could to make it through the night. With five young children, we decided to wait until morning to figure things out. The power briefly came back on, giving us a glimmer of hope, only to go out again by 8:30 AM. The hosts assured us the power would be back on soon, mentioning that "their church still had power." As if that somehow made it better. We decided to go into town, spending a few hundred dollars on food that was as mediocre as it was overpriced while dragging five tired, cranky kids along for the ride. Fast forward to us talking to the locals and the electric company, only to discover that this was a planned outage, which we were never told about. Had we known, we would have rescheduled our trip for another weekend. But no, we were told the power would be back by 3 PM. Spoiler: it wasn't. We returned to the cabin, still holding out hope, but by 5 PM, it was clear we were getting nowhere. Our texts to the hosts provided no help other than suggesting going back into town to go have dinner and saying "well our other guests are making the most of it." By 6:30 PM, we were freezing in a house with no heat, no light, and only one lonely candle the hosts kindly provided. We were sitting in our snow gear and still could not warm up! We realized we had to cut our trip short. All of our food was spoiled--hundreds of dollars down the drain. We had no choice but to pack up and leave, braving the mountain roads in fog so thick we could not see more than 75 ft ahead of us while also dealing with snow fall and some hail. The hosts tried to claim the storm didn't start until Sunday night in a response to another review, but we have dashcam footage and photos showing substantial snow on the ground Sunday morning. I have attached a video of the END of our hour and a half Drive down the mountain. This is when conditions became clearer. The first hour and 20 minutes of the drive down were 20x worse than the video. While we don't expect the hosts to control the power outage ( obviously) , the complete lack of communication, preparation, and empathy was downright appalling. No flashlights, no candles, and certainly no offer to make things right. We had to fight tooth and nail just to get $2,000 back from a $4,000 trip. So, we essentially paid $2,000 to have a cabin with power for less than 12 hours, watch most of our food go bad, and then make a dangerous drive down the mountain with crying kids in tow. What a vacation. Hosts/owners of the company respond with snide comments and are rude to anyone who gives them ANY criticism. You can see for yourself HERE and on the AirBnB reviews. Shows you more about their character than anything I can say. If you're looking for kind, responsible, considerate hosts and a place where you might actually get what you paid for, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. This place? Not it. You've been warned.

I contacted the larger property managers in Big Bear prior to signing on with RSVacations. Kenny was the only one to return my phone call and actually met me at my property to go over things with me to assure the property meets the city of Big Bear rental guidelines and made me feel at ease with my property management selection. This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Does anyone else notice there are only 5 star reviews on their Big Bear Cabin website? Good thing we have other options on google & yelp to make a review!

I received a request from the booking agent for $500! The message read: 'Thank you for taking care of the deck repair. Michelle' I responded immediately asking what had happened and that i was unaware of any issues while renting. I feel like this type of communication was rude and absolutely presumptuous that i caused the damage. You see, i went to Big Bear when everything was covered in snow. It had been covered for the last weeks from a previous snowfall, and the snow had not melted yet. When i arrived at my cabin, it was completely covered - including the deck. We were not able to use the deck for this reason. Obviously the rental company did not shovel the snow in between renters. There was no further response from her and she escalated the issue to the AirBnb team. There was no dialogue or attempt to speak with me regarding this, which I believe would have deescalated the situation because i attached a picture clearly showing that the deck was covered in snow/ice. It did not snow while we were there - this was obviously from previous snowfall. The damage pictures she sent looked like a burn marks on the deck. Those burn mark pictures were soaked in snow melt and ice. Obviously this could not have been done by me i my picture shows the deck covered in snow. Till today, after escalating the issue the rental company has not followed up with myself or AirBnb. It is unprofessional and unnecessary to work with your customers this way. We called after booking to confirm reservation and make a request to be placed near each other. I called the evening before our stay, again, to request the rooms be situated near each other and was confirmed they had all 3 reservations (2 rooms on one reservation under my BIL and 1 room on a separate reservation under my husband). We make our 2hr drive up to Big Bear and upon checking-in (around 3pm), we're told they couldn't find either reservations! Here's the shady part: one of the female employee hears this, she steps in to take over. She proceeds to tell us that the reservations were not in their system, they have no means of altering the system therefore it couldn't inadvertently be cancelled, she was new but somehow gave the response that this has never happened before, and she continues to insist my husband and BIL contact their credit card and third party booking agency (in addition to Extra Holidays which has nothing to do with our reservation) to address the issue, despite us showing email proof of reservation and payment. No one more experienced or even a manager (who appeared to be standing behind this receptionist) stepped in to help this "new" worker. After about almost an hour of "there's nothing I could do on my end" excuses, and having had 3rd party booking confirmation, the receptionist confirmed that EVEN if we were to verify all of this, they had no rooms available for our party. Which was odd because we were early for check in. Later that day, my husband got on the phone with the 3rd party booking agency we used to get a refund, they called the hotel to confirm we didn't stay, and here's the UNETHICAL part: WorldMark confirmed with the agent that THEY CANCELLED our reservation!!! A quick Google search for reviews on this issue showed this has been a common practice of WorldMark. They over book rooms by up to 20% banking on cancellation. But if not, then they drop the paid reservations, often without any notice. This is completely shady and unethical greedy business practice. We were fortunate enough to only have a 2hr drive, but folks traveling from out of state or country would have had no other accommodations! Please be aware and DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH WORLDMARK. The employees know what's up and they do not care and will lie just to get you out of the way.

The kitchen has a small table, a portable hot plate to heat up food with a saucepan, a small refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker with filters, microwave, and plates, mugs, glasses, and cutlery. If you want to save money buy some easy to prepare food and drinks and you can also get coal for the public barbecues. The Village is a 5-minute walk away so you can check out the many restaurants, bars, gift shops and movie theater.

After our honeymoon, we raved about this place so much we made all of our family jealous. Right after the new year, ten of us came up for another six nights of skiing & snowboarding. The wolves at the zoo would howl at night & there was never a dull moment. Vacation 3: I'm leaving for deployment soon (Navy) & we decided to bring us & our three little ones to our favorite getaway. Only two nights, but everything is perfect. Can't beat eggs & bacon in those cast iron skillets! As I have said before, this review has always strictly been about the experience of the lack of customer service from the property manager, NOT the condition of the cabin. POST FROM - The Treehouse on Aspen Facebook: The Treehouse on Aspen has been the victim of bullies. A group of renters who rented online for OCTOBER somehow, showed up in January. When shown the online reservation form, they insisted that they never stayed at the cabin in October. A call to the housekeeper determined that no one had come on the weekend they had reserved. Unfortunately, the Treehouse was already rented for the weekend they showed up for as it is a very popular rental. A sheriff was called to remove the disgruntled non-renters from the property and protect the current renters. A full refund was given to the non-renters even though under the terms of agreement that was not necessary. The owners also personally contacted the person who made the booking, hoping to ease the situation that could have been a simple mistake when they booked online. Instead, the person who booked the cabin refused to speak with the owners, and the friends have launched an online bullying campaign against the Treehouse. On Yelp,on Facebook, and on their personal pages they are attempting to ruin the reputation of a house they have never stayed in and the owners with whom they refused to talk to. It is a shame that some choose to use the power of the Internet to bully, harass, and otherwise defame innocent parties. We are currently investigating whether this can be pursued legally for slander as we do have their October reservation, and none for January. I do wish to thank all of those who have been our guests and enjoyed the Treehouse. I'm sorry that any of you have to be subjected to the immaturity, vindictiveness, and spite of an unfortunate group of people who have chosen to turn a mistake into a vendetta rather than work with the owners to resolve it. Once inside it smelled clean and everything looked clean. I did take a bottle of Odoban and did a once over but it was during COVID paranoia. I read reviews about a rouge hair or two and myself having very long dark hair I find it silly that it would be a huge deal, even in the most immaculate environment one is bound to pop up, trust me, I know but I understand with COVID everyone needs to be on top of their game with cleanliness. I found the location to be really convenient, it was close to everything we wanted to do. We had several exchanges with the owner, we checked in after midnight and she was friendly and professional. Since we were both working remotely due to COVID we decided we wouod like to stay another night if they could accommodate us and she was very courteous and made the process easy and that extra night actually turned into 3 extra nights! The parking is a bit tight I came straight from buying a new fairly expensive car so I had to park a few different times until I was satisfied I would avoid a door ding but that was probably new car paranoia and if you don't arrive after midnight like a dummy you'll probably have a better chance at choice parking. Once in the cabin I saw there was one of those QR codes on the wall for you to scan and when you do they offer a coupon code that can't be applied retroactively of course so I was kinda bummed by that because it only required a 3 day stay to receive the discount and we stayed over twice that long so perhaps it could have been offered. I found it online as well so before you book look online for coupon codes because they're available. I found booking straight from their website was less expensive than Expedia and the other travel sites. For the price I think this place is unbeatable. Just when you thought I was going to shut up I pop back up... I forgot to mention that one night a family checked into one of the family cabins and they were out until after 10 pm and they were loud eventually I called Cathy at the number she provides for you to call if you need anything and within 5 minutes she had sent someone to take care of the issue. I'm not sure if any of the cabins are pet friendly but I know that the one we stayed in was not and that was really the biggest issue we had. I have a 4 pound Yorkie with separation anxiety and he's grown quite accustomed to going everywhere with me so we had to hire a pet sitter and I really missed my Lil guy! I wish they allowed pets of a certain size with a deposit. Other than that I can't wait until it's time to go back. We went in the last week of April for my birthday and the weather was perfect. Not too cold but you still definitely get that mountain experience and since it's the off season everything is very affordable. And was not stable to move plus that was the only place to hang clothing. No drawers The mini sofa at the end of the bed was torn and poked your behind if you sat on it. Everything is done by text message, yet conflicts aren't resolved. It was our ;9 wedding anniversary. We were deeply dissapointed after reading other's posit reviews. We won't be back
