We didn't have any appetizers but for the beef salad Thai style. It was very different and delicious! Lots of beef with onions, cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce. It is cold too, hence salad. Asked for it hot as the spicelevel but it wasn't very hot. Also got the crispy red snapper curry. Oh my! This was so good!!! And they got the spice right with this! It went very well with the grapes and pineapple in the curry!! Mind you, it did have veggies in it too, not just fruit. Then to finish we had the Thai donuts. I dream about these sometimes. Anything and everything you order from this amazing restaurant will make you happy and I mean EVERYTHING! The Tom kah pla soup is by far the BEST I've ever had. I have ordered delivery from Sawaddee multiple times but had the pleasure of enjoying the eclectic interior design during a dine-in experience with my fine-dining chef friend from Vail, Colorado last week. Our server was very knowledgeable and took very good care of us. I wish I remember her name. She's super cute with beautiful eyes, mid-20s... Anyway, aside from the funky décor, Sawaddee offers some of the most authentic Thai food I have had the pleasure of indulging in outside of Thailand. Having spent a month in Thailand, standards for my favorite cuisine are pretty high. Sawaddee has the highest quality ingredients and I never have to throw out pieces of chewy/fatty meat or soggy vegetables. The best part about Sawaddee is their spice level. They are not joking when you ask for "Thai hot". With warning of course, my friend and I rode on a roller coaster of intense heat. Our mouths were still burning an hour later. My friend travels the world living for food and he agrees that Sawaddee is one of the best in Thai food. Simply amazing!!!! I have been to Thailand before and I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants over the years as well. I believe this place has the very best Thai food in all of Miami. Maybe even Florida. The Tom Kha Kai is great. I also had the snapper with red curry. It probably was the best Thai fish dish I ever had. Big hint. This place does not serve alcohol BUT they permit you to bring your own wine and/or beer there. So this is a big savings for you. This is a great little Thai spot that I love to hit up when I'm working in the North Miami Beach area by Harding and Surfside areas. It's not on 71st technically but it's around the corner. The street parking can be difficult but there is a paid city lot behind the building which is very convenient! I've eaten here 5 or 6 times now, and it's been about 4-5 months it seems. Since my last visit, there is a sushi chef here now, and there are also sushi specials for lunch. So, let's see, one of the better Thai places with dirt cheap lunch specials now has sushi and sashimi?!? BONUS! Two of my fav cuisines now available in combo lunch specials. Today I opted for a combo sushi/sashimi with a curry dish, of which I could choose from beef, pork, chicken, tofu, or shrimp for $2 more. I opted for a green chicken curry, a Thai tradition. Choose from a salad or miso soup (included). The green curry came first and was delicious, with a good amount of chicken for a lunch special and a bowl of rice. The veggies in the curry were plentiful and fresh! The sushi/sashimi was great, consisting of a Cali roll, a tuna/salmon/whitefish (3) nigiri, and 6 pieces of sashimi. This is a great combo consisting of a good quantity of food for the price!! My only complaint was one sashimi salmon piece was mostly frozen.. Better that than warm and stinky! I always see this place on my Yelp search since I'm local to the area, and not gonna lie I always skip past it because the first photo is of a take out box and it makes the place feel like a cheap Chinese take out. BUT, I went for the first time today with my parents and it was delicious !!! The place is nice and smells clean. i had the cashew nut chicken, it was so good and savory, the red dragon roll and Tom Kha Kai was also delicious. Feels very authentic Thai food, good quality and portions. So many options on the menu! I can't wait to come back and try more. Went to Sawaddee for dinner on Friday night, which also happened to be Valentine's Day. I was not impressed with the food and I was confused by the service. Quality: Sawaddee is the first Thai restaurant I have ever seen Macaroni Pad Thai advertised. However, when I requested it, my waitress bluntly advised I should stick with the original, as this version was not good. I was not much better off with the Chicken Pad Thai. Super sweet and extremely bland. No heat, which after I saw the bill, I certainly would not have requested it mild. Simply a dish that should be better at a Thai restaurant. With an extensive Japanese side of the menu I also ordered a Hot JB Roll, which was also not very good. The warm nature of the roll, made it feel too much like fish that sat out too long. Quantity: I didn't need two dishes, and ended up leaving a bit of each behind. Value: $16 for the Chicken Pad Thai. $11 for the Hot JB Roll. Ambiance: Sawaddee is located on Normandy Isles in North Beach. The location is a little hidden as the entrance is not on the main stretch of road. The restaurant itself is split in two dining areas. The first room is a bit more packed with a sushi bar in the corner. I sat in the second room, which is a quieter and better equipped for large parties. The walls had assorted Asian decor and in the background 90s pop music played. Crowd: Busy, but not packed on Valentine's Day. Mostly couples enjoying dinner together. Service: A little too much honesty from the staff. My waitress pushed me away from two items on the menu, saying that they weren't good. If that is the case, take them off the menu. I'm so frustrated that I even have to write this and that Yelp makes me remove my glowing review if this restaurant to write a new one! Here it goes: it's Saturday night, I have places to be and figured I'd order some quick food from one of my favorite local eateries. I used GrubHub which is perfect because I can make notes for each menu item. Simple. I write two times that I am allergic to tomatoes. Twice. All good. I called to make sure they recieved the order correctly and to confirm they saw the notes about the tomato allergy, they said yes they see it there twice. Awesome! I make sure it's not a problem, he replies no problem. Now I'm excited! I pick it up and ask the nice lady to confirm my order is correct. Chick satay looks good. She visually checks it, tells me it's all good. Double checks with the expo guy / order guy and he confirms. I look and get all excited thinking it's just carrots and chili peppers. I get it home and take one nice big bite..... nooooooooooooooooo! Fricken tomatoes! Come on! Really? At first I'm a little disappointed... so I kill the chicken satay because I'm starving and it's so delicious! I figure it's time to call the restaurant, a really nice guy answers the phone. I told him what's up and asked if there's anything we can do, I literally had that one bite and found the tomatoes the hard way. He puts me on hold... comes backs and says the kitchen can make a new one, cool. I asked if they can deliver it because I already came once and now I'm short on time and would be late if I drove over again and back. He tells me yes then deliver it! #WINNING ..... but wait for it, nothing in life is free! They have to charge me a delivery fee! LMAO. I chuckled because I thought he was joking. Nope! Ehhhh! No joke. I said "okay, since your kitchen made a mistake, and you're charging me a delivery fee for you to fix your mistake, throw in a spring roll or something and I can live with that". He needs to ask the kitchen. All the years I had worked in restaurants and hotels told me they'd say yes if not throw in a dessert. haha. Noooooope! Seriously to my surprise they said no to throwing in a spring roll which could not possibly cost them more then a single dollar or so! They're charging me a fee equal to an appetizer price and can't throw in a frickin spring roll or whatever to say sorry for not caring enough to not possibly make you really sick because we have a major oversight issue with the kitchen? Wow, I told him I needed a few minutes and would call them back because I wasn't very happy about. So here I am about to eat some soup I heated up with writing this awesome review of one of my fave places in the neighborhood all because they want to stiff me on a delivery free for their mistakes or not throw in a $1 spring roll to make up for it. Yep, that's about it. He was super polite about it and said he wished he had control over it. I was nice as could be, no point to kill the messenger! It's a kitchen, pick up packer, and management issue. I guess the moral of the story for me is to be more careful where I order from and to add this delicious spot to the list of restaurants that I'm uncomfortable eating at due to the staff not caring enough about the customers to pay just a tiny bit of attention to ensure no one gets really sick from the food. You'd think NOT adding tomatoes would be a very simple task to accomplish. I always take multiple steps to make sure I don't miss anything and that I repeat my allergies multiple times when I order, usually call before I pick up, then ask again at the restaurant. You have to be really careful with serious allergies. I'll eat anything that doesn't make me sick, I'm not picky at all about food. Just eat to live and stay healthy. So yeah, I'm so disappointed right now, I'm such a fan of this place! Saddest review I've had to write. Moral of the story for you, don't order from here if you have any allergies. Not even sure I'd eat there because the lack of caring and communication will still be there in the kitchen and expo no matter what. Cest la vie. Time to make the drive to Ricky Thai Bistro (my fave Thai spot in all of Miami). I've never had issues there and Julian and his wife are absolutely a pleasure to deal with! Delicious and sweet!! Thai basil (first entree item) was cooked perfectly. Seasoned well and the perfect amount of sweet Thai basil paired well with the tender chicken mixed with crisp peppers. The sushi was super fresh and the small fried rice was only FIVE DOLLARS!!! Get the small fried rice. It included fresh veggies, eggs and was fried perfectly!! Nope!! I was psyched to try highly rated Thai food in Miami seeing as Thai food is my favorite and I've been a fan of NaiYaRa also in Miami, but Sawaddee was disappointing through and through. The spring rolls had a strange Chinese, 5-spice-kinda flavor to it.. I can't explain what it was, but the rolls were too thick and oily and the flavor was too much to handle. I also tried a spicy tuna hand roll which wasn't very fresh and was another hard miss. My meal was a tofu pad thai and I could hardly muster more than a few bites. I left hungry and really disappointed. I don't recommend this place for anyone who's eaten a lot of Thai, it just doesn't hold up to most places! read more

The spice gods heard my wishes. After moving from New York, I feel that Miami is seriously lacking in the asian cuisine. After trying many different places, and even trying to become a regular only to be told that things are sold out or lack in consistency we finally bit the bullet and paid the ridiculous fee for postmates to deliver from here and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Red curry with chicken, Chicken with basil, Pad See maw with tofu. The portions were huge, we have left overs we can eat for another two days. The shrimp/pork shumai was so delicious and filled with a lot of meat, and salted perfectly. The red curry was delicious and authentic, with tons of white meat chicken. The Drunken noodles were excellent The food was SOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT! This was the first time since we moved to miami, that we actually had to wipe our faces, and gulped down my thai ice tea and my hubby even got himself a glass of milk. It was so spicy we didn't even eat as much as we normally do, but it was MUCH NEEDED since we had missed spice for months! I have visited Thailand and Sawaddee is as close as I have come to the taste of that magical place in Miami. The great value, friendly staff, and exceptional food offest the no frills dining room. The lunch special is particularly impressive because of the price and portion size. Green papaya salad and red curry were really flavorful. I ordered my curry spicy and it had nice heat. They were out of hamachi so we had white tuna instead and were really pleased. If you walk by this restaurant you would not think much of it. Recently moved to the area and was ecstatic to find a legit Thai place. When you walk in the decor is very cute and the place smells authentic. The inside is a bit cramped, but the vibe is nice and the food is good. My vegetarian girlfriend is a huge fan of pad thai and she said her order was one of the best she's had. I was very happy with my chicken and the small order of fried rice we got to split was anything but. The fried rice is absolutely delicious and a must try when you come. I asked 10 times calling her but she didn't hear me or ignoring me I stood up and walked to her and said excuse me and she completely ignored me. If you're going to have bad attitude to toward to customers for no reason why would you have a service job or even why are you coming to work? I stumbled upon Sawaddee on my way out of Katana, as my friend stormed out, impatient with the long wait there. We walked and walked to what seemed a remote residential and commercial area, and tucked in a dark corner, where it seemed there would not be a single restaurant, we saw Sawaddee. I remembered the name, having seen Yelp reviews about this place at some point, and the positive feedback it generated, so when my friend asked if I'd be willing to try it, I was game. The place was rather small, yet my friend found it to be cozy. The place was also full, which was a good sign. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and thought it was very sweet, not watered down like at other places. My friend and I chose to order the Thai food, as opposed to their sushi. I decided to get a Tom Yum soup and was delighted to find out of the ordinary ingredients like onion strips and tomatoes in it. And may I say, they get what "medium" spiciness is, because most places, you ask for medium and there's barely any kick to their food, but here, it was nice and potent. My friend ordered the same thing and found it a bit too hot for his taste though. I ordered a volcano chicken as my main course, but was too tied up with an emergency phone call to take a picture for my review. I didn't love that selection to be honest, but I saw my friend's meal and unlike mine, his had lots of veggies and he really enjoyed it. Oh well, next time, I will choose something else. Based on the friendly, attentive staff and my soup, I can tell this place is good and that the volcano chicken was just not my cup of tea, so I will have to come back to order something else that may be more to my liking. It's not too far from where I live so I will definitely be back to give them a second shot. The Mr. had been for lunch several times and raved, so we returned for dinner. We had a cold appetizer - crab wrapped in rice paper. There were 8 large bundles stuffed with greenery and fake crab with a spicy sweet dipping sauce. We also shared the crispy curry fish. AMAZING! The exerior was delectably crisped, while the fish flesh lurking inside was flaky and (I hate this word, but it fits) moist. The curry sauce had red peppers, grapes and pineapple. No frills good Thai in North Bay Village. I came here for lunch a week ago. The place was small but was seated right away. I think they had about a 10 top plus the sushi bar stools. Lunch menu was small too but had all my favorites...pad thai and curry dishes. The lunch special comes with piping hot soup (nice broth) and perfectly deep fried spring roll. Delicious! Ordered the Red Curry Chicken and Pork Pad Thai. Both tasty and freshly prepped. Noodles were just the right texture and peanut sauce was not overpowering. Curry was semi thick and nice spicy kick. Portions were more than satisfactory. For less than 8 bucks, you get soup, app and entree and good service...I'm all in! I have to try their sushi which is served only during dinner. WORST DELIVERY EVER. We tried #GrubHub for the first time last night while binge watching #StrangerThings on #Netflix. We ordered from #SawaddeeSushiAndThai in North Miami Beach: Spring Rolls, Gyozas, Chicken Pad Thai, a Lemonade and a Thai Tea. We placed our order online at 8:32pm, and received the confirmation email that showed a delivery time of 30 to 45minutes. We pressed play thinking that the food would get here towards the end of the episode.... The episode ended (that's 45min) and we called the restaurant. The person that picked up the phone said "your food order is about to leave any minute now". Started to watch another #StrangerThings episode, time goes by and the episode ends. Again, no food. We decided to call @grubhub 's customer service. The person that picked up apologized for the inconvenience and offered us $10off for our next purchase (ironically the same promo that made us order from GrubHub on the first place), he also contacted the restaurant he told us that the food should arrive within ten minutes... 25 minutes later, we decided to just call the restaurant to cancel the order and of course the delivery guy knocks on the door... at 10:40pm! Over 2 hours after we ordered out food! The food was actually really good.. the lemonade was way too sweet but everything else was fine. With this said.. I love this Thai place in North bay village, in my opinion, it's the only good Thai food on the beach. It's a small intimate location, with a pay to park lot next door. You can tell by the constant inflow of drivers, they have a large delivery clientele. If you dine in, It's BYOB, so if you like to have beer or wine with your meal make sure you bring some with you. They'll set you up with an opener and chiller if need be. I'm a fan of curries, so we always order one for our main dish. Tonight, we started off with the Chicken Satay, the peanut sauce is made in house, and delicious. We also ordered the spring rolls, very light and crisp. For our main, we shared the Green Curry, this one is my favorite, but I've tried them all and each one is delicious. If you go during the day, they have a great lunch special.
