My wife and I came here for a 90 minute massage. There were some problems. 1) My wife filled out a form, specifying a Swedish massage for me. However, it was completely ignored and I got a Thai massage instead. I didn't complain because I am totally new to massages and don't know what a Swedish massage is. After describing my massage to my wife, she said I mistakenly got a Thai massage. 2) I had an uncomfortable breathing experience because I was not on a massage table. Imagine lying on a mattress face down with only a face pillow (with a hole in the middle) in between your face and the mattress. This is what I experienced. It was hard to breathe since there was no open air. Only my face in a pillow in the mattress. I came up for air several times. When I described the experience to my wife, she was surprised I wasn't on a massage table. The face pillows on the massage tables are exposed to open air on the opposite side of the face, so it's easy to breathe. My face pillow was downward into the mattress. Nothing to breathe except the air in the tiny hole in the pillow. Maybe my experience is typical of a Thai massage but it wasn't what I expected. read more

I got a 1 hour Traditional Thai Massage from Nicky (sp) on 3/4 and it was great. Trust me when I say this because I am certified in Thai Massage from Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Bangkok. She has plenty of strength and gentleness to match. She prompts for feedback to make sure that the pressure is right for you. Her stretches truly stretch you out. Oh the wonderful pain :) The Facility is top notch, worthy of being a Spa in a 5 star fancy hotel. Staff is friendly and really do make sure that you feel comfortable. My life was changed today. Seriously. I'm in a state of total bliss. Em was my therapist and I have never had a massage that was so good. I'm so out of it right now (in a good way) that I'm using all of my mental powers to write this review, lol. I will absolutely, 100% be coming back on a regular basis. My first time here was great, probably 3.5-4 stars. My second visit didn't go so great, but after a chat with the management I opted to give it another try here. I'm glad I did. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The rooms are separated by tapestries but it does remain pretty quiet as not to be distracting. The therapists know exactly how much pressure to give and also check in with you to ensure its feeling right. For the Thai massage they lay sheets over you and work the trigger points skillfully. It's very enjoyable. They have an intake sheet that allows you to highlight areas of special need, and while mine did get some attention I think I should have asked her to spend a little more time on my shoulder. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Sawadee as one of the better massage options in Sunnyvale/Mountain View. I've tried several. Nina did a great job and paid attention to the areas that I wanted her to focus on. I was in a lot of pain from a kettle bell class and I was able to get an appointment 30 mins from when I called, which worked out for me because I was desperate :) The music is soothing, the massage areas are dimly lit, and the facilities are clean. I would have liked a more private room for the price I paid, but the excellent deep tissue / Thai massage blend made up for it. Half of the areas she worked I didn't even realize were stiff until she started working on them. My wife and I received 90 minute session of the Thai Therapeutic Massage on a friday evening. While the owner replies trying to convince me that I don't know anything about thai massage, I have spent over $4,000 on thai massage alone within the past 2 years and was a regular at the montra thai massage in Sunnyvale untill it closed down. Based on my numerous previous experiences, the quality of the massage I've received at Sawadee Thai massage was definatley below satisfactory, nowhere close to being worth $300. Both our masseuse lacked skill and motivation. While the owner tries to be convince me that the use of excessive elbows and knees are just part of the massage, such body parts fragile as the upper traps shouldn't be stepped on carelessly. There were numerous occasions when the masseuse lost balance while stepping on me and didn't even care to say anything about it. In addition, any good masseuse should know stepping directly on top of the vertebrae should never be done, but again, this is exactly what happened. On top of this, the cervical adjusting technique was also questionable. Although I pointed out these problems consistently during the massage, it truly felt like she was being more careless with every complaint that was addressed.Moreover, I recall the masseuse yawning constantly during the entire session and just overally felt that she was tired and lacked energy completely from the start. The experience was a horror and the owner made it worse. read more

Nancy did a fantastic job with my Deep Tissue massage. This was my 2nd time there (1st was a pre-natal one) and both times I was very satisfied. It is a very clean place, relaxing atmosphere with good calming music. They do everythign correctly, starting from check in (nice receptionist), quick check of the body parts to focus on, and then they give you a room. This is my favorite massage place. If you like deeper/firmer pressure and/Thai massages, then this is the place for you. I've been many times and all of the therapists are great. They check in to make sure the pressure isn't too much so if it is, just ask them to lighten up and they will. I do love a fancy spa from time to time but for a real good massage at a reasonable price, this is it. My benchmark for a good massage. Pretty upscale. Taking a star away for the price. Have tried their aromatherapy massage which is pretty mellow. Their herbal massage and traditional are much stronger and will do wonders if you workout or have chronic beck/back problems. They have a great online appointment system although you'd have to provide a credit card to hold the appointment. The space of massage is a little awkward (uneven surfaces, soft surfaces, curtains to the next room) to change and change back. It would be good if you can streamline that - allowing us to change into a robe different place before coming into the massage area, or reorganizing the space a bit. read more

My main point: Do NOT get Cindy as your masseuse. I tried to make an appointment for Sara, Nicole, or Nikki (as recommended by other reviewers), but they're off on Mondays. So I ended up getting a 90-minute Thai massage (medium pressure) from Cindy. I've gone to Thailand enough to know what to expect from a Thai massage (I've had Thai massages from Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, etc.) I understand that I can't expect that kind of quality here, as the same with Thai food, but Cindy definitely did not deliver. Cindy's techniques were stressing me out the entire time. Her elbow kept on slipping off when she was trying to apply pressure on a single spot (especially on my back... but the one that hurt the most was when she tried to massage the inside part of my thigh... it hurt so badly when she slipped). She kept on digging the tip of her fingers into my muscles. She also didn't seem to know how to user pressure properly. I asked for medium pressure, but some parts felt like she was barely touching me, and other parts were painful with her knee and entire body weight on my inner thigh. When I was sitting up, she was trying to massage my back by pushing me forward, hence, no pressure at all. She should be applying pressure downwards instead of forward. Pressure was inconsistent throughout the massage. It was not enjoyable. I'm expecting a soreness kind of pain on the day after, but I'm actually experiencing some sharp pain on areas that did not hurt prior to the massage. =( On the other hand, I really like the atmosphere and cleanliness of the place. I will go back and get an appointment with a different masseuse. read more
