Not a good experience this time. Our waitress took us to our table, took our order, and forgot about us! 30 minutes passed. She never came to apologize or give any update. We had to go over to find her and ask about the status of our order. Turned out she didn't even put it in! That's unacceptable. At 40 minutes our cocktail arrived. A very mediocre experience, both food and service wise. I love angel eggplant and was really underwhelmed here; there were only two pieces of eggplant and they were not quite crispy or salted enough. The pad see ew also just did not have the right flavor profile or texture. Although my partner and I ordered for takeout, the ambiance of the restaurant is so cute!! We'll definitely be back to dine in. There also seemed to be plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. SA-TAY (4) - 9.50 This was pretty pricy but at least the chicken was saucy, flavorful, and juicy (which is a huge win for white chicken meat). The meat fell off the skewer pretty easily as it was tender. The peanut sauce was pretty oily but lacked any strong, nutty, peanut flavor. I don't think it enhanced the chicken in any way, so I stopped dipping in my chicken after a few bites. PAD THAI NOODLES (BEEF) - 15 The one big win? A good amount of beef in the Pad Thai - it was indeed not lacking. Pretty tender and flavorful, too. Besides that, the Pad Thai wasn't very memorable as it was a bit bland (unless you squeeze a lot of lime on it, but then it's just citrusy). If you have an unfathomable Pad Thai craving and Sawatdee was the closest Thai place to you, the Pad Thai here will definitely satisfy it. MANGO WITH SWEET STICKY RICE - 9.75 Mangos were ripe, juicy, and sweet! It went well with the sticky rice, which had a lot of fragrant coconut milk drizzled on top with some sprinkles of sesame seeds. Sadly, the portion size of this was pretty small. I would recommend it to give it a try, but definitely not worth it. Sawatdee is in the Courthouse Plaza, which is a super convenient location and is metro accessible. A lot of light came in through the window too so it made our booth feel even more cozy to sit at. I went all out for this lunch by getting a beef noodle soup and a Thai tea. I was expecting the tea to be extremely sweet from prior experiences but I enjoyed its sweetness. It also comes in aesthetic glassware. The boat noodle soup had one of the heartiest soups that I have ever tasted. Something about the deep beef flavor and other spices made the soup really delicious. The beef was also extra tender. This restaurant was a little bit difficult to find, it's in a small little shopping center in courthouse. After getting confused, I realized that it's across from Courthaus Social. It had decent reviews online, so I thought I would give it a shot! I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the inside absolutely adorable, with fake plants and flowers, and cozy little booths, but the food was fantastic. I love Thai food, but this restaurant definitely scores high in terms of the Thai food I've had in the area. Not only did they have tons of authentic food options, from noodle dishes, to curries, soups, etc., they also had a designated vegetarian / vegan section. You could order anything from that section with or without eggs to help with dietary concerns. I got the vegetarian pad thai. It was so so tasty. It came out very quickly (less than 15 minutes)! And my pad Thai was nice and hot, which is how I like my noodle dishes. There was plenty of food too. I had enough leftovers for a whole second meal. It was totally worth the splurge. The curry was like soup, but there was a good amount of seafood. There were very few vegetables (two pieces of broccoli and a few pepper slices). It came in a nice metal bowl with a side of rice. The food was bland, so we asked for the spice bowls to add to our food. It took a very long time (food got cold) to bring. The sweet and sour sauce is just right on - neither too sweet nor too sour. If you like crispy fried chicken, you shall enjoy this version as well. Service has been always impeccable. Outdoor seating is spacious and enjoyable as you listen to the relaxing water fountain sound close by. I took one star off due to the appetizer dish, fried calamari. The pad Thai had way too much sauce, was gloopy, and ultimately inedible. I've never had a pad Thai that was drowning in sauce like that. This place used to be soooo much better. The last time I was here was before the Pandemic. I used to like it a lot. This time the food was under flavored and over cooked. I had their "Chef Recommended" Ga-Pow Crispy Pork and a Thai Iced Tea. The pork belly was very very tough and gummy, what pork belly isn't supposed to be.The tea wasn't bad and I would have preferred it if when served the glass was actually full. Stopped by for lunch with my partner on a Wednesday, the restaurant isn't super busy and the space is quite large. Their lunch menu seems like a pretty good deal but I was craving something else - I ordered the kai klur fried rice, which is fried chicken served with fried rice, the chicken is fresh, hot and delicious. And the fried rice also came out pretty good and flavorful! We also got sun dried beef for appetizer, it was decent but it was $15, which is a little pricey. Some places serve sticky rice with sun dried beef, which isn't the case here. The sauce also wasn't spicy enough to my taste. Pretty good Thai food in a convenient location near the AMC Courthouse theater. I got carryout recently, so I can't comment on the whole restaurant experience. I thought the person who took my order wasn't super friendly (kind of weird for a Thai place, where the staff are usually super friendly), but perhaps that was a language barrier. I took picture of my crispy pork with greens as well as the mango with sticky rice right outside the restaurant. I was a little disappointed with the no visible coconut milk sauce over the mango and sticky rice. On another Yelp review, I saw another picture of the mango dish that looked as good as the dish I often ate in Thailand. I also recently tried a Japanese place in the same complex.
