Good sweets and coffee for the area I've been to this stretch of the woods a lot back in the day. But never really stopped in because it was Covid times. Now I was back in the area and decided to come in and try. The place was a lot more like a bar and restaurant than expected. Lots of seats and a hostess station up front. We went straight back to the bakery counter to order up some sweets and drinks. I got a snickers latte, and a peanut butter bar. Missus got a carrot cake pop, a coconut and chocolate danish, a custom green tea. Drinks came out quick, and we got our sips and bites in. The carrot cake pop was tasty. Very much a carrot cake in flavor and consistency. Warm spices, cream cheese chocolate coating, it was the best bite. The peanut butter bar, too sweet. I prefer to taste the peanut butter rather than the sugar. The same was true of the coconut danish. Too sugary for the dessert, but a good amount of coconut filling. The drinks were also pretty sweet as well. The coffee got masked by the sugar and the caramel overpowered. Wasn't bad, just very sweet focused. Pricing was high, but that area of the state is always a little pricier. It's a decent sweets shack, but I prefer a little balance for the price paid. read more

Stopped in for our morning caffeine as we made our way from Massachusetts to Vermont. It's a great place with lots of options for both food and drink. They had gluten free pastry options and hot food, too. There were caffeine and alcohol options depending on the time of day you visit. I ordered a hot skim vanilla chai and it was fantastic. The coffee cake was delicious and the blueberry muffin was yummy. The chai latte was q bit on the frothy side but still good. The decor was rustic but comfy and the crowd was bustling. This was such a cute little cafe. It was decorated nicely with autumn decor. There's plenty of seating for groups and individuals. My friend and I came here for iced matcha lattes and breakfast sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. I would recommend getting it on their croissant. Their iced matcha latte was good! It was probably one of the better ones I've had. Their matcha powder was mixed entirely and it wasn't overly sweet. My only criticism was there was way too much ice in my cup. We went in to get some drinks after lunch and it's a quite cozy area because it gives Café/brewery vibes. I got their golden espresso martini, which is gluten-free and dairy free and it tasted like an actual espresso martini.. We also got a few desserts. I got pistachio and a honey lavender cheesecake. The pistachio was perfect. No need to add any more comments on that but the lavender cheesecake is interesting like perfume if you're interested that flower flavor. Not my favorite, but interesting concept. The staff was great. They all worked pretty diligently. This charming coffee shop is right next to Old Sturbridge Village. I have come here almost every day for a week because I need WiFi for work and my campground offering is awful...okay focus! First- the staff- I have never witnessed such hard working, efficient, friendly staff. And I mean hustle! Constantly cleaning, stocking, preparing- it's quite impressive! You'd think they were all part owners with as much pride as they work with. Second- coffee and food- they have a great selection of coffee and bar drinks. And their menu is quite large for a "little" coffee shop. And their baked goods- oh my! I've had a cinnamon bun, brown butter chocolate chunk cookie, and a gluten free chocolate cookie. I also tried a flatbread- everything was so good. They do offer gluten free options too! Overall- this place really should get 7 or 8 stars but I am limited to 5! read more

My friend picked this place to try recently. It's a beautiful place, very nice decor and clean. We ordered at the counter and I picked an iced latte and they had a case with sweet treats, I picked a peanut butter rice crispy bar. Unfortunately, we didn't realize until after I ordered that they had menus near the entrance (I definitely would have ordered something off the menu!) Lovely place to sit a spell and chat. Just spent 4 days in Sturbridge for my daughters' dance competition. Sawdust Coffee and Dessert Bar was a close second enjoyment wise to watching my daughters dance. It's clean and modern/trendy. The staff is incredibly nice and professional. By my 7th time in there, they had memorized my name. (Coffee and tea twice a day plus grabbing baked goods and flatbreads for the kids etc had me in there 2-3 times a day) My wife enjoyed both the hot and iced coffee. I enjoyed both the hot and iced tea. They had a quality selection of tea bags. (A very close second to loose leaf tea) The bagels were the best I've had outside of the metro NY area. The scallion cream cheese was quite good. One of the mornings, I also enjoyed the whipped feta and olive toast. The true gem was the baked goods. They featured a wide range of delicious treats. The chocolate chip cookie is huge and fantastic. They had an lavender and lemon cookie that was perfect with tea. Earlier today I had their "Twix" cupcake and it was tremendous, a moist chocolate base with high end decadent frosting. When I'm three hours away, I'll miss Sawdust. read more

This is a cute, rustic coffeehouse that only has a limited food menu, but an excellent drink selection. The decor has a dark autumnal New England theme to it. Sawdust offers a flatbread pizza that can be topped with most any conventional options including pepperoni or chicken. They also have a large pretzel for $11 which comes with a good, snappy mustard sauce. I recommend pairing it with a Nine Pin cider. I was passing through looking for a local coffee shop to get some work done in and wow did I find a winner!! First, the inside is huge with so much seating and variety of tables, booths, etc. This is a coffee shop with food and so so so many desserts but it also has a full service bar! The ambiance is the only reason to go here. The food is alright, don't get the egg, it's a mix so they are square and rubbery. The bagel was really good so I just removed the egg and asked for cream cheese. My husband got a sandwich as well, the croissant was great he said but he only ate the egg and meat because he's not going to waste food. The service wasn't great, the young lady at the register was very impatient and acted like we were a bother.
