The Backyard is a hidden gem in the back corner of the Shops at Grand River with pizza, BBQ, bar, outdoor dining, cornhole, putt putt, and plenty of room for the whole family to have a good time. I went with a group of 4 last night. First of all, I will say that the food came out extremely fast. By the time we got back to our table, they were right behind us with our orders. However, 3 of the 4 orders were wrong. We also saw we were all overcharged when we looked at our receipts (we thought it was strange all of our orders were wrong so double checked). Additionally, everyone who had chicken thighs or sweet tea chicken sandwich got sick later that night. This location used to be great but I'll be sticking to pizza next time. read more

Cost 32$ for 2 half a** chicken sandwiches and 2 sides of potato salad.. Reminded me of soggy Krystal's or White Castle sandwiches, no bbq flavor and the potato salad was like flavorless mashed potato's... sloppy presentation, no taste, need homewood to come give free lessons on how to make ( #1 bbq in Homewood) food.. check out these pictures read more

Disappointing. We are fans of the original in Homewood, and were hoping this new location, which is much closer to us, would be just as good. It wasn't. It's good enough for a quick lunch but if you want mouth watering chicken/white bbq sauce take the time to go to the Homewood location. read more

I hate to leave bad reviews but this was truly disgusting. I was given the task of deciding where we should eat on vacation and I had to apologize to my group after we left. I can get over the food being cold but everything down to the water in the fountain machine was foul. The one star goes to the young staff that was polite. This was so revolting that I am no longer suggesting where we eat during our trip. read more

Overpriced, sad bbq pork potatoes and cold mashed potatoes are passed off as potato salad. Requests 30% tip when you go to counter to make order, get your own drinks and waitress is not seen again. I will not be wasting my money again. read more

We went here because we thought it would be like the saw's in crest line and were sorely mistaken. This is not a regular restaurant!! You order at the register and the staff was not helpful. The food was mediocre and nowhere near the caliber of the real saw's and we were disappointed. read more

This place is ridiculously good! This is a combination of 2 restaurants- Saw's BBQ and Neighbors Brew & Pies. My apologies- there are no photos because we were hungry and didn't realize that everything would be off the chain delicious! Table of 3 - we had the smoked thighs, pork rinds, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, pulled pork sandwich with onion rings AND a sausage pie. Miserably full and there are lots of leftovers but OMG it was good!!! read more

Just as delicious as the other Saw's in Birmingham. We got pork-n-greens and a baked potato with pork. Absolutely delicious! So thankful to finally have a great BBQ option in the Leeds/Moody area. read more

Picked up takeaway at Saw's at Grand River in Leeds yesterday. The fried green tomatoes are to die for, with a unique flavor profile I've never found before. Aesthetically speaking, you get a crisp, great crunch, the best I've ever had all 'round, but it was that undefinable "extra touch" in the profile that has made these my new addiction. I only hope my grandmother in heaven didn't hear me raving over them. Up till now, she was queen of the fried green anything, but tomatoes, especially. Also loved the fried corn -- again, a very different twist on the flavor profile. REALLY enjoyed it. Sweet potato fries were just incredible, and the coleslaw provided the perfect acidic counterpoint to the fried food a Southern girl loves. It's hard to create something truly different that falls into the "southern fried" category, but Saw's has excelled at it. In addition, as a vegetarian it's been my experience that almost all restaurants neglect the side dish. Since I nearly always order vegetable dishes only, this has always been a thorn in my side. Saw's managed to remove that thorn yesterday, and I will definitely be back for more! read more

We love this combo restaurant! Great atmosphere, food, and service! Can't wait to take the kids on the weekend!

We arrived around 6:50pm on a Friday night and found a long line, out the building, in fact. A restaurant employee came by and suggested we (and another party at the end of the line) go to the line for the pizza place, which she said could also take our Saw's order. We found out later that was incorrect and had to get back in the first line. It took until 8:19 to order and get our food. As we waited, we could see inside the kitchen which seemed to be quickly turning out food. The problem seemed to be getting it out to the tables. We think servers had to gather the orders, and the service area is huge (indoor and out) so servers would be seen wandering around looking for the numbers. Everyone was working very hard, it just seemed to be too busy for only one register to order and a more efficient delivery system is needed. Food was ok but charged extra for sauce even though they didn't give me any to begin with??????

After 50 minutes of not receiving our food and not being checked on at our table. I went to check and get an eta on when it may be ready. They told us our food was sent to the wrong table and they would get right on making our food, the second I got to my table they brought out our order that had sat under a hot lamp for 30 minutes (and was likely on the other customers table it went to first). This was a birthday dinner and was a huge upset. Will not return. read more

My wife and I decided to stop by and try the restaurant before watching the movie. We ordered the three piece chicken plate (which was just shredded chicken) with two sides. The meal comes with two pieces of white bread. My wife made a sandwich and half way through eating the sandwich, she asked if the bread was was molded. I looked at the bread and it had a dime size green mold on the bread, the size was actually a quarter size -you figure what happen to the rest. When I notified the staff, the manager saw the molded breaded and disregarded it. Instead of asking if my wife was ok, she said a little extra penicillin wouldn't hurt and smiled. So there were three things this establishment failed to do. 1) check their food before serving, 2) not taking the issue seriously and 3) not asking or offering to replace the plate but more importantly, asking if my wife was ok. My wife did not finish her dinner and we both left. I will not be eating there again and I know my wife will not ever recommend. read more
