Authentic boricua comida .The service was immaculate,Server was friendly. The chef came out the back and gave us a great convo about the food. Also helped accommodate an order my mom wanted to her specific liking.Great salsa music,Place was super clean. The busser was kind and helpful. The wall art was great to look at.The food tasted just like my great grandma and grandma's cooking.Arroz con gandules was perfect! Chicken well seasoned and maduros was amazing along with the tostones. The mayo ketchup was good also.I Will be back!

Good service, the food was flavorless somehow. I'm used to…read morethe spot in the Bronx off of grand concourse (iykyk) so the food I bought from La Isla was disappointing. I was hoping it would be tasty so I could have a new local spot, but I'll keep looking I guess. The amount of food I got for the price wasn't bad. The only thing I can think of that was positive about the food is that the potato ball was alright, I would eat it again.

Sad to say as someone that is also of Puerto Rican heritage the colorism is real. I stopped by this…read moreplace because I was looking specifically for a Spanish food spot and I saw that this is like a little Puerto Rico in Brooklyn and I thought why not let me sit down for my hour lunch break, and eat here. Very wrong decision I walked in, there was an older woman with her daughter, and the daughter was helping her order her food and they were taken care of. I waited as it was very busy. I will say that. A gentleman walked in also Hispanic, but we can identify and assume what color of skin he was because he sat down right next to me, and the server literally went to him did not even look at me not once and asked him what he wanted and took his sit down order right next to me in front of my face! To my astonishment did not ask me what I wanted so I asked him. Do you not see me sitting here waiting to be served?! He didn't even respond. I was going to continue with my order, but it put such a bad taste in my mouth that I stood here in front of the establishment to download Yelp again and write this review. !!Please do not come to this establishment and spend your money because they will not respect you especially if you have of darker skin no matter what nationality you are.! Also the front is crowded with drug addicts!

It was incredible, hearty, savory and simple. I didn't have cash so I zelled them. It's super cheap, delicious, and I love seeing all the locals popping in. Very authentic.

The staff are very friendly, despite the limited English skills (and we don't speak Spanish). The restaurant takes cash and Zelle. Both of the below entrees came with rice and (a very small portion of) plantain. *Roast Pork: I assume this was pernil. It had a nice balanced seasoning that was gently savory and went well with the rice. Not a particularly "wet" dish, don't expect a lot of sauce. *Chicken Stew: They gave us two large drumsticks of chicken stew. The marinade / sauce is VERY lightly flavored and I wish the seasoning could be stronger / more interesting. This is not the best Dominican food I ever had but I did appreciate the homey charm and the very low prices. For two servings of roast pork and one serving of chicken stew we paid $40 flat!! It was enough to serve our group of four. I don't know how many other places in Hell's Kitchen or other well-visited parts of Manhattan would be this affordable.
