The vibe was relaxed but lively, with great music and friendly service that made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We started with the croquettes and WOW, they were crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. I've never had croquettes filled with oxtail! Easily some of the best I've had in Brooklyn. I ordered the bandeja paisa, and it was perfection. Everything on the plate, from the chicharrón to the plantains, was seasoned and cooked just right. Comfort food done right, and super satisfying. To drink, I had a frozen passionfruit margarita, which was dangerously good. It was tangy, icy, and just the right amount of sweet. My date went with the Hennessy mojito, and it was incredibly smooth and refreshing. We were both impressed by how balanced and creative the cocktails were. My date also had the camarones al ajillo, and we both kept stealing bites from the plate. The garlic sauce was rich without being too heavy, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I usually had negative experiences with the food for places that place an emphasis on having photo walls but the food here was actually really good. They gave a really good portion size as well. The drinks were strong but not really there taste wise. The servers were are nice and attended to us all night. Then the vibe there was also good too. They had a bartender there singing on the mic along with the songs but it wasn't that obnoxious singing you hear at some places. We didn't make reservations and just walked in since it was a Wednesday night. It was a nice atmosphere with the layout of the place that was decorated vibrantly. There's plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. There are televisions by the bar playing different channels, so if you want anything in particular, just let them know. We were in the area around 5pm looking for a good happy hour. My boyfriend found this place, HH looked great, so we popped in! We wanted some food (there were HH food options, available for bar seating only) so he sat at the bar. We promptly ordered the red and white sangrias for $7 each, along with the Alcapurias and Chicharrons de Pollo for $10 each. He's Puerto Rican, so I let him order. Everything was delicious! Very hot, very fresh, including the drinks. The Chicharrones de Pollo fell off the bone better than any chicken wing I've had. I'm not sure what the cut of meat was but whew, so good. The Alcapurias were stuffed full of meat and came with a delicious jalapeno ranch-like sauce, as did the chicken, although it wasn't needed for the latter. We're looking forward to coming back for more food! Major plus: we were gunna go to a bar to watch some soccer after, but they had the games on here. Great to know for future reference! A quick final note - we were charged a 3% non-cash fee on our final bill, which wasn't reflected on any of the menus as mandated by the NY state law. My friend and I went in here because it's advertised as a sports bar and we wanted to watch the Mets-Dodgers game. There were 5 TVs above the bar: 4 of them were showing the same Knicks-Pacers game and 1 of them was showing the Spotify playlist. There were about 6 total patrons in the bar. It was my birthday!!! My friend recommended this place for my special day. When we arrived the live salsa band was playing and it was very lively. We were happy to be seated rather quickly upstairs. The crowd was very nice and the vibe. Now let's get to the food! We had the Sancocho soup and alcapurrias to start. I was very pleased the smell alone took me to my mothers kitchen. July 17 2022 Brunch My husband and I went in for brunch around 12:30pm. We were greeted by our server. I asked if we could sit outside. She said no. She said she had a birthday party reservation upstairs and it would be easier for her to have us sit up there with the party. I didn't understand this considering 1.The kitchen is downstairs 2. It was just my husband and I and the party (10 people) upstairs. Other than that the place was empty. We obliged. We were sat upstairs. The music was super loud, it just didn't make sense for a Sunday morning in an empty restaurant. We planned to get the brunch special which includes an appetizer spread/bottomless mimosas/entree. We've had the special before so we were pretty much ready to order. Since she was the only server at the time, we knew service would be slower than usual, so we gave her time to make drinks, and serve her large party before we ordered. My husband starts to order his dish (chicken burrito) and she stops him and says "the appetizer comes out first so ill only put that in for now" What? Anyways 20 mins later in a second server clocks in and poses behind the bar staring into space for 10 mins playing with her hair. Still waiting for my Bellinis. By this time I just feel like we are just hanging out with the staff. Our drinks come and she made mimosas instead of Bellinis. It was super hot upstairs so I insisted we sit were we wanted to initially. We switched tables. Sudden relief. Downstairs our appetizer platter arrives hot and fresh. At this point I remind my husband that we still haven't ordered our entrees yet. We've already been there an hour. We flagged down the second waitress and she put in our food. We ordered a pitcher of Bellini because at this point we are hardly seeing our server and we want to drink. My husband hardly touched his mimosa, and I was almost finished with mine. Our server comes, takes my glass, pours MY remaining mimosa into my husbands glass and uses that glass to pour my Bellini in. She didn't even ask my husband if he was finished with his drink. Why did she do that? Just bring new champagne flutes. That was a turn off. I'm not sure what happened here, but our latest experience was less than enjoyable. I didn't lowball the rating cause whoever the chef is, they are excellent at what they do. My churrasco was cooked perfectly (medium) and the beans were to die for. Thanks chef. Ive worked hospitality for over 10 years, I think this shift needs more organization. Your opening server was all over the place and it made our latest visit nothing to brag about.
