Ok, this review is 5 stars to try to address what I think is an undeserved 3 star overall rating…read more Los Mariachis serves excellent, authentic Mexican food along with excellent Tex-Mex. I lived in the north Dallas area for 39 years and have visited the gambit of outstanding Mexican restaurants before moving to Florida and experiencing the epitome of mediocre or just plain bad. We come to Fairburn once a year at most for the Florida Renaissance Festival. This is our go-to restaurant for dinner from the day we arrive until our final evening here. I haven't had a single menu item that I've been disappointed with to-date. I've had fajitas, enchiladas, and authentic Mexican. The music on weekend evenings is loud. You need to arrive early or be prepared to wait for a table. Seating is perhaps a bit limited for how many people I've seen waiting for their seats. The 22 oz margaritas hit the spot after an 8-hour drive and check-in to the hotel next door. I can recommend the tableside guacamole for starters and the chicken poblano as a meal if you love authentic Mexican food.

La Costa Tacos y Mariscos sits in the strip mall behind the BP. The location is in the back corner so make sure you're on the lookout for it as it's possible to pass it by accident... I walked in taking in the authentic cultural ambiance. The location is small, however, they made great use of the space. There are a few High Top 2 seaters towards the front and some booth style seating towards the back. As I explored the menu I was pleased to see the variety of options. There is something for any food needing mood. I decided on the #1 which is 2 Tacos with Rice and Beans. Please note, the beans are Refried Beans and not the usual Black beans I'm accustomed to being served as a side. I chose to go with the Steak Tacos and I am pleased with my decision. To note, the tacos only come with the corn shell. The steak was perfectly done and well seasoned. The tacos are meaty and very filling. The tacos alone get a 7/10 from me. They really carried the combo for me... The rice was rice. Nothing special about it, minimal seasoning but goes well mixed with the beans or added to the taco. The rice by itself gets a 3/10 from me. The refried beans were standard and used as an additive to my rice and filler to my tacos. LoL!! The salsa provided was mild and fresh. It had the authentic salsa flavoring and went great with everything on my plate. The service was pleasant and friendly, and the establishment was super clean. Overall, I would recommend La Costa Tacos y Mariscos if you are in the mood for Mexican and want it quick. I would use this as a lunch pick up option when in the area.

I've been to Frida's in Fayetteville enough times that I really don't even need to look at the menu…read moreanymore. I already know what I'm getting: the Fajita Quesadilla, Texas style. Now, every once in a while I'll switch it up and get the carne asada tacos or the birria tacos, and both are good. The carne asada has great flavor, and the birria is definitely worth trying if that's your thing. But let me be clear...nothing compares to that fajita quesadilla. Something about that combination of grilled meat, peppers, onions, cheese, and that big flour tortilla just WORKS. It's hot, cheesy, filling, packed with flavor, and one of those meals where I tell myself I'm only going to eat half and then suddenly there's considerably less left than I planned. Frida's actually has a pretty extensive menu, but I am a firm believer that once you find YOUR thing at a restaurant, you don't keep experimenting just for the sake of being adventurous. LOL. I found mine. So why only 4 stars? Because Frida's is usually packed, and when it gets busy, the service definitely declines. Things can slow down, attentiveness can drop off, and you can feel the difference. And the music? Whew. Sometimes it is EXTREMELY loud. I'm talking to the point where you have to practically scream across the table just to have a conversation with the people in your own party. If you're coming for a lively atmosphere, that may be your thing. If you actually want to talk over dinner, just know what you're walking into. Still, I keep coming back because that Fajita Quesadilla is THAT good. So yes, try the carne asada tacos. Try the birria tacos. Explore the menu if you must. Me? I'll be over here eating my Fajita Quesadilla. Again.

I was a little nervous about the crowds, but my party slid in right before things got wild and got seated immediately. The service? Outstanding. I still don't know how the staff kept up, but our server never missed a beat. The music was a whole vibe, the DJ was on point, and the playlist kept the energy high all night. I ordered the Shrimp Bowl and WOW. I'd come back just for that. Usually, I need extra protein, but the standard portion here is no joke. You will not leave hungry. And the tableside guac? Hands down the best I've ever had, chunky, fresh, and those tomatoes and onions were everything. Now let's talk about the margaritas. Listennnnn. We had no idea how big a 32oz really was until it hit us. We thought we were going bar hopping afterward... absolutely not. I'd 100% come back. Thank you, Frida's, for such a great experience.

Knowing this family of restaurants and their culinary inspired gastro treats, I wasn't sure what to expect.. It is challenge innovate Mexican while also not bastardized favorites. 2 I didn't try any of the specialty cocktails but definitely will look next time. Now that I know the kind of delectable creations this group makes, worth experimenting!. 3 It wasn't a 5* experience because of the service. I think our waiter was brand new to being a waiter. He wasn't engaging, attentive, or accomodating. I arrived a few minutes after the rest. They had put orders in... The waiter came to the table several times bringing napkins or another menu... Ignoring me and my thirst. Once I got served I was better. 4 But then when I ordered food to go to eat for dinner at home.... He charged a 20% tip... Saying it was the group service tax. I protested that wasn't fair or right. I paid for my drink separately with the 20% and everybody else had food there and actually had service. He had forgotten to put in my to-go order so I actually had to order and wait until after everybody had left and they had cleared the table to get my to-go order and he still charged me 20% to to go dinners. His excuse was that it was the computer and there was nothing he could do about it. I CALL BS ... Somebody who actually cared about creating a good service experience for a large group, particularly ones that many of them had never been there before. Would not arbitrarily charge 20% on it to go burrito, And not even trying to get a credit off of it to the manager. The more I think about it, the more I think I should just give him three stars.
