    The Legal with bacon added.

I had my first burger at Scale years ago after a multi-night back packing trip. The burger was so fresh and delicious! I wasn't sure if my taste buds were just past due after eating dehydrated food or what. So, I traveled from Seattle back to Scale back in June only to find out they were closed:*( due to staffing issues. So I headed across the street to the train restaurant and ended up with one of the juiciest blue cheese burgers and hand cut fries, but Scale was still my "Go-To" place!! TODAY, 8/15TH, I traveled back to Elbe to see if Scale was open and thank the Lord they were open!!! SQUEAL WITH DELIGHT! My husband had the Overload, I ordered the Legal with bacon and it was just as I remembered all those years ago!!! FRESH, LOADED TO THE HILT WITH ALL THE TOPPINGS and seasoned just right, the sad part is I'm on a diet:*(

Visited Scaleburgers for the very first time today (7/6/24) with some friends. Ordered the Overload burger which was absolutely delicious. I expressed my gratitude to the young ladies who prepared my meal in sweltering conditions while maintaining a positive attitude. My burger was moist and the condiments were fresh and added a nice touch to my sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good food at a reasonable price (I paid $15 for the burger and a medium drink). Scott D. Blount Covington, WA

This place is fine - I pass through this area every week and stop by infrequently. For a better drive-in spot I prefer HUFF 'N' PUFF on Highway 12. At Scale Burgers you order at the window of the shack and the service is usually pretty quick but there can be a wait depending on when you catch them. Once you receive your meal you can sit at the picnic tables they have around or take to your car. The Classic Burger is a backyard style burger, it's tasty but there's nothing too special about it. It's overpriced for what it is and given how casual this place is. They're only open during the summer, so I guess they have to make their money on the tourists to/from Mt. Rainier during the summer to last them throughout the year. If you're passing by, it's a serviceable burger but don't go out of your way to get it.

I have to say that this place is incredible. I was so happy to see a family hamburger stand. I was really happy with my double burger with bacon and cheese. The ladies working there were great too. Your order is a card out of a normal deck of playing cards and they yell it out when it is ready. Take the time to go to this place and have some great food, served by real people !!!

Right near Rainier national park. Overall just OK, but still hit the spot after a day of hiking in the rain. Outdoor seating only.

Cash only? Lost our business before we could even try the food. That's too bad because it smelled really good.

Burger is not spectacular and service extremely slow. My pet peeve though is businesses that don't take credit card and deal in cash only.

We did take some time to wait before seated, to get our food and to get our bill, I guess it was understandable since it was a holiday weekend, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had the train wreck burger, at least I could say it's worth the wait. It was loaded with meat. The pulled pork was really flavorful with tangy BBQ sauce. Highly recommend to meat lovers. I also love my ginger ale, it was definitely the most spicy ginger ale (in a good way) I've had. The only thing I want to complain is the tip option actually starts from 20%, in this economy? Restaurant owners, stop being pity and pay your staff a decent basic salary.

We both ordered the prime rib, medium. My wife requested a salad and I asked for soup. Neither side ever arrived. After we saw the steaks, we decided to cut our losses. The prime rib was only about a quarter-inch thick, which is already a red flag if you know steaks. It was cooked hard as leather. I ate about half of mine; my wife boxed hers up. When we got back to the hotel we threw it in the trash. I understand this is a roadside attraction, and it has been around a long time, so I assumed the food would at least be decent. I would not recommend the food. The experience of eating in a train car is neat, but that is about it. This was not the first meal we have had to throw away this week. The man running the place was very nice, so no complaints there. A couple renting a room for the night seemed excited about staying, and I have nothing negative to say about that--only the food.

First, the girl who helped me was incredibly kind, helpful, and just effortlessly welcoming (also--stunning, which matched the whole vibe of the place). The food? Genuinely top tier. The mushroom Alfredo was hands down the best I've had in my life. I've actually tried recreating it since I got home and... humbling experience. Not even close. The macarons were perfect, the stump cake is ideal if you want dessert without it being overly sweet, and the cheese Danish tasted way more authentic than the usual overly sugary versions (definitely not your typical Starbucks situation). Everything was hearty, filling, and just really, really good. One of those places you randomly stop at and then think about later like... wait, why was that so good? Would absolutely go back.

Also, the establishment is in a lovely location a few miles from Mt Ranier NP. Alas neither the service nor food was good. While we didn't wait long for initial service to take our order and to get our wine and salads, the entrees took a while (didn't check my watch to see how long we waited) and the dishes were delivered separately; I had the chicken kebabs (both meat and vegetables were cold). By the time I stopped eating (I ate less than half of my entree), my husband got his entree. He ordered the pork ribs, which were the appropriate temperature and tasted good. As for service, twice we asked another server to get the person waiting on us for water and a second glass of wine for my husband, and to ask for our check. At the beginning of our experience, we saw interesting entrees on the menu for breakfast and thought to return in the next day or so and give them another try. After a disappointing dinner experience, we will not return.

It's a really tiny little trailer, so I understand they're working with limited space, but having cars loop around in what feels like a figure-eight can be chaotic. People get impatient, start honking, and it's easy to accidentally cut someone off without realizing it. They're just burgers, people--everyone needs to relax a little! That said, despite how busy it was, the line moved surprisingly fast. I ordered a double cheeseburger with everything, a side of onion rings, and a black raspberry shake. The shake was fantastic--definitely a highlight of the meal. The burger was also really good: flavorful, fresh, and exactly what I was hoping for. The only disappointment was the onion rings. They were incredibly greasy--so much so that they actually upset my stomach. I'm not sure if that's typical, but I probably wouldn't order them again. Next time I'd give the fries a try instead. One thing that really stood out was the pricing. It's refreshing to find a place that still offers fair prices when it feels like everything else costs an arm and a leg these days. Overall, I'd definitely come back. The burger and shake were worth it, and as long as I skip the onion rings, I think it'll be a solid meal.
