The pizza is the best in Foley, great service and ambiance. Five stars. Awesome lunch menu.

I finally went here last week for the first time with a few friends. I have been hearing a lot of buzz about the place for a while, and we were all pretty satisfied. We had a really good time, and really enjoyed most everything. This spot is located inside of the already popular Southern Shores Eats and Drinks, right there on 59, just north of County Road 98. And the place is called Scallywags. Looking at the main menu they have a huge selection of drinks, including a 32-ounce Rum Bucket, Bushwackers, and local draft beers like Fairhope Blue Steel. Scallywags is pretty much billed as a pizza joint, but with their drinks they could easily be called a bar with bar food. But the menu does have kinda bar food but much more. They just started a newer feature, a "Quick Plunder Lunch," and we went for that. It's available Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and gets you a sandwich or a personal pizza with a drink for 11 bucks. We ended up ordering a mix of things to share around the table. We started with their hand-tossed pepperoni tavern pizza that came out hot with the cheese and toppings loaded all the way to the edge, very nice. For the sandwiches, we tried the Galley Cuban, which was pressed nice and crispy and served with a big side of house-made potato chips. We also ordered the hand-breaded chicken tenders and fries that were quite good, the calamari, and the Black Flag Reuben, which had a nice corned beef and sauerkraut on marbled rye with a little pirate flag toothpick. Everything was made to order and tasted fresh, the portions were huge, and our server was super attentive the entire time. It is a great addition to downtown Foley, and I will definitely be back to try their Chicago stuffed deep dish next time. Scallywags is closed on Sundays and Mondays, open Tuesdays thru Thursdays from 9 AM to 8 PM, and they stay open later until 10 on Fridays and Saturdays. The reviews are mostly positive, with a strong 4.5 average, with lots of buzz about the 60 cent wings on Thursday nights, and my favorite new revelation, that they fry everything in 100% beef tallow. Bottom line: Good food, cool chill vibe and good people and don't be intimidated by the limited, sometimes difficult on-street parking, there's plenty out back. Recommended!! read more

Saw an ad that mentioned Chicago Style deep dish pizza, and being from Chicago we had to try since we haven't had a real Chicago pizza in ages.Drove out from Mobile to try. The decor was cute-beachy with a mermaid skeleton over a door which brought a smile. Staff was nice and helpful, refilled our drinks several times. Placed our order preparing to wait cause we know these take a long while to cook. Had some calamari while we waited. The breading was good, but the calimari was a bit rubbery. Our pizza took the usual 40-45 mins and looked and smelled yummy. The bottom crust was crispy which was a good sign. I did wish they'd given us a sharp knife to cut with but it was fine. It was a really good deep dish pizza overall and the cheese was nice and stringy. However, it wasn't a Chicago deep dish-the crust doesn't have the cornmeal-y taste and the sausage didn't have that bite. Sauce was a little too sweet to be Chicago pizza, but I looked at the menu again and it said "Chicago inspired". So in the case of being put together into that almost casserole-y concoction it is..But if you are from Chicago and looking for a true Chicago deep dish like you'd get at Uno's, Rosati's, Aurelios this wasn't it. So happy to find this place! It's about a 40-minute drive from my house, but they have Chicago style deep dish pizza! For the past couple of years I have been searching all over Pensacola for a Parlor that offers this style of pizza, and I still haven't found it. But... if I drive to Foley I can get it! I called the number on the website which went to a generic voicemail greeting. I hung up thinking I misdialed. As I was double checking, my phone rang and it was Scallywags saying they missed my call. I gave them my order and headed their way. When I walked into the pirate themed restaurant I found the place to be empty. Everything was clean and neat as I kind of walked around to figure out where to pick up and pay for my order. I was a little worried with the lack of patrons. But once I found the folks running the place things went fine. I got my pizzas and headed home. The Chicago style pie is really good! The tavern style pizza is good, too. There is no doubt that I will return. read more

If you want an amazing family owned pizza this is the place to go. Pizza only on the weekends. Chicago style pizza with plenty of toppings and that amazing sag to the crust when you try to pick it up! They roll every pie to order so it is not a quick grab and go. Wings and sandwiches are also on the menu....if we can pry ourselves from the pizza we will try it!! A good beer selection as you sit at the bar and listen to the locals chat. I really try not to give reviews below a 4, but if I analyze each aspect of this place I believe it's fair. You want to go here with good company without a rush in order to get the best experience. The setting itself is cool, it has bar seating, several booths/chair combos and a game room. However the small business feel is highlighted by spotty customer service. A mere effort to inform customers that they are busy and that there are only two servers working would often suffice. But to visit the table only seldom and not ask how things are/refill drinks is a bad look. The food itself is pretty good. The appetizers were great. The thin crust pepperoni pizza was very soft everywhere but the outer edge and while I enjoy that, the rest of the table pointed out that most people prefer a more well-done undercarriage. This could've been a one-off due to being busy and trying to get the pizzas out to tables. The deep dish pizza (Kraken) was good and the sauce is a blend of sweet and tangy. I will try this place again and see if the experience is any better. read more

Did a pick up order. My mistake for not checking the box before getting home with the pizza. But the entire bottom of the pizza was straight up burnt. No reasonable person would have served that. On top of that, the restaurant could use a thorough cleaning! We won't be going here again. read more

Scaliwags Pizza has both thin crust and Chicago style Deep Dish. So far I have only tried the thin crust and really enjoyed it as the crust is very crisp and crunchy. I plan on ordering and sampling the Chicago style deep dish ASAP! The downside is on my last visit they seemed to be out of most of their beer options. Overall I like the pizza and hope the beverage service improves. read more

The breadsticks I ordered were straight dough. Literally inedible. When I asked for a refund, they refused. Was offered a gift card, which is useless bc I will never go back to this place. Waste of 30$. Never made a yelp review in my life, but this place was so bad I had to. 0/10 place. read more

Only place in the South to get a real Chicago Dog, Pizza and Beef Sandwich. I've waited 14 years for someone to bring these items to a menu.

A wonderful find! We were there for lunch and breakfast was just finishing. Their breakfast menu was large with lots of options. We were there for the Pizza! I loved their pizza sauce and choices of types of pizzas. We had fried ravioli which was very tasty. They are stuffed with cheese and had a little jalapeño flavor to them. They are a must try! I liked their pizza sauce atmosphere with outdoor areas but restaurant, coffee shop and bar vibe through out the restaurant! Our pizza was very good! I look forward to visiting again when we are in the area. Staff was pleasant and informed us that boy was taking a bit longer due to large demand on orders before us. This place was great! My husband and I came in for lunch on a Saturday after visiting Alligator Alley. I asked our waitress what she recommended and she suggested the tortuga treasure so that's what we went with. Absolutely delicious! Loved everything about it, that hot honey drizzle really set it on another level for me. Service was friendly and helpful, food didn't take too long to come out maybe like 15 mins tops and the place was clean, just a little quiet since it wasn't very busy so some ambiance instrumental music may be a nice touch when needed, just a thought! We aren't from the area but will definitely be stopping by again if we are nearby! One more thing I wanted to share is that if you're looking into getting the Chicago style deep dish pizza, be prepared to wait 45 to 50 mins on it, we asked our waitress if it was good and she explained that it was phenomenal but takes a very long time to cook so don't show up to try it unless you have a lot of time on your hands. She said you can call ahead though and order one so it can be cooking while you're on the way there, then by the time you get to the restaurant and get seated it may be almost done.
