I like the furniture I am a previous customer but not at this location. They would sell so much furniture if the sales people here had some training. We always love the furnitures at Scandinavian Designs, their unique but functional (&not heavy set and bulky) designs at reasonable prices. We've been shopping there for decades, all of the major furnitures we have at home are from them. Anyway we recently bought a new dining set, delivery and assembly went online and smoothly, the delivery guys were professional and efficient. Adult Lesson Learned: Do not get rid of your old couch until a new one is delivered to your home. I decided to move back to Sacramento without our couch. I figured that it would be easy to purchase a new one and have it delivered in no time. WRONG! When you decide to buy legit furniture and want to custom design it there is a wait. And it can be anywhere from 3 -5 MONTHS! Yes, Months! The hubs and I wanted to invest in good, child proof (no we don't have children, just preparing for the future), last a long time couch. We wanted leather, but he also insisted that it be motion.We knew what we wanted was going to cost us a pretty penny. Actually, Thousands of pennies! The furniture at Scandinavian Designs sell themselves. The sales person, Carl did not push or pressure us into anything. He stood back and answered any and all of our questions as we walked around and check out their huge inventory. When we were ready to bite the bullet and get the couch we wanted he was very helpful.I was adamant that I did not want a sectional just in case we move or because sometimes I like to fung shuay up our home. However, the hubs and I fell in love with a sectional. That was fine... we could CUSTOM Design the thing! We turned the sectional into two sofas and then I requested the higher grade leather in the color I wanted: graphite. The hubs and I went back and forth with either black leather or white leather (we were both tired of the brown leather) so we compromised and chose a grey hue. Since this is a custom design order they have to make it for you...from scratch! And then you don't even get it right away. I was totally bummed that we have to wait so long. We made the purchase at the end of August and still have no couch :( Hoping we get it before Thanksgiving. Since the firm the hubs works for literally owns him right now and we can't vacation together, so my consolation prize is getting to redecorate the house. Since I was sick and tired of looking at our informal dining room set I decided to splurge on a new one. Since we recently bought a new flat screen and put it above the fireplace we needed a dining table with some height so we're not craning our necks. I chose a Counter Table from Scandinavian. I love the sleek and modern look of all of their designs. And I loved the fact that they had so many options at their site! I'm not into anything ornate. The hubs and I like minimalistic, modern, chic looks. Since we like to prepare for the future we wanted something that would be difficult for a toddler to climb onto and leather since it would be the set we'd be using most often and it would be easy to clean from spills. Basically family friendly with style! Since that item did not have to be custom designed we had it in less than a week. Delivery charge is $69 and not only did it come on time, but it came with 4 guys to assemble the counter table. The whole ordeal took less than 15 minutes! I loved our shopping experience at Scandinavian Design. We will definitely be coming back for more furniture and recommending them to our friends. read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! This place is huge! Modern contemporary furniture everywhere! We were searching for living room seating without a definite arrangement. Found great pieces and sets for moderately, if not shockingly low prices. Now we have a problem deciding which one we're getting! We've been to Scandinavian Designs before and even though we liked the simple, modern designs of the furniture, it was the price tag was always broke the deal. The furniture didn't fit the price tag. Now, that is not the case at all. We love what they have to offer, especially the prices. We can special-order the upholstery without additional costs. This may have been offered before, but we never got to this point until now. Once we decide on the upholstery and arrangement, we'll be back very soon. We're told it takes 3-5 months for a custom set. OK with me. After all, it's a special order. I'm just excited! I can get an entire living room furnished for much less money than expected. We received a coupon for Scan Designs from 'Welcome Wagon' when we moved to Roseville. We really don't need any furniture but I love to look at this elegantly sleek style of furniture. I am not a frilly sorta gal so this style is sooo 'me'. The salesman was so welcoming even though we were just "lookie-Lous". There were some old discarded library books being used as 'props' in the book shelves. One was on a subject I am interested in. The nice salesman gave it to me. Great furniture store, better quality, more elevated pieces and modern designs than your run of the mill furniture store. Their showroom is extensive and they have a big selection. We browsed in store and then waited for a big sale to get our chaise couch and paid for delivery. *You can purchase by phone or in store if you want to do pick up instead* We ended up ordering more furniture and picked it up when a bigger sale was on and was able to get a price adjustment within the 30 day limit of our couch purchase. Otherwise, regular sale price is a bit expensive. Other than that, it's worth checking out. read more

We love the furniture but customer service not so much. We ordered a king size bed frame and king mattress but the salesman put in order for a queen mattress. We get it that mistakes happen but really? The salesman told my husband that he would give us the king bed at the queen price and since it was a Saturday and corporate offices were closed he would call us on Monday with a delivery date. 5 pm rolls around and no call. My husband stops by the store and the salesman tells him he just got off the phone with corporate and proceeds to tell my husband that the earliest we could get our bed would be March 16- maybe- but most likely March 18, which would be two weeks after our frame was delivered. Oh, and by the way, we were golf that the most they could do would be a 25% reduction off the mattress which is what we already had. There are tons of things that are "almost" right for me but rarely do I find just the right piece. I found several this time, that is if I get the house. This concerns two stores--Fair Oaks and Concord. I love the furniture and got a nice deal on a bedroom set, living room tables and sofa. I had a problem with the sofa as it arrived with leg damage. They took it back and repaired it which I trust has resolved the problem. I also had a problem with the slats on the bed I bought and that was similarly resolved by the ingenuity of the contract delivery man and me. They still sent the wrong part. Granted all these were clearance or floor models discounts but I liked what I got. Service from Trini and Maria was great and Brian was agreeable but it would have been nice not to have to wait at home on a second day for it all to have been correct. Perhaps it was a shipping or logistics problem. And truth is, I am likely to buy more because I like the lines and quality of the furniture. Without these problems, four stars. read more

Absolutely incredible showroom with a friendly staff that greets you straight away. Had Carl help me with the purchase of 2 Regal barstools, a way cool chair and a vase. One of the barstools was a left over that was kicking around and was on sale. He first checked to see if he could find another matching one by chance at another store. No luck. He was however able to match the fabric on the one in store and order another one from the factory. By being able to do it this way he saved me well over 200 bucks! Beautiful showroom as expected since this is the company's newest store. A great selection of contemporary pieces of all types, bedrooms, office, dining, living and artwork. Prices are good but we were helped by the most useless salesperson ever. I pointed out six items for him to put together prices on, 15 minutes later he comes back with a hand written list missing 2 of the six items! After correcting this oversight I asked him what he could do on pricing since our six items totalled about $7000, he said we cant do anything. I told him that I was a long time customer and that I have neogotiated prices in the past ie free delivery/price deduction etc. He said that the way the company was structured he couldnt offer anything....LOL. Well your thinking, maybe company policy has changed since I was here last....nope I just neogotiated a deal 2 weeks ago. We are frequent shoppers at Scandinavian Designs since they have so much that matches our style/taste. We found the perfect tables for our new office kitchen and needed six of them. That became a bit of a challenge since there were only two at one location. Kristen from the Rocklin store went out of her way to hunt down four more and had them all delivered to the store closest to our new office to make it easier for us to get them. The short version: A furniture store that offers something a little different than you are going to find at every other cookie cutter furniture store. The basics: Every time I ventured up to Roseville for something it seemed like I was always passing this place by on the highway. Finally one day I remembered I kept saying I wanted to stop in while I was in the area so I did. I have to say I am glad I finally remembered. I walked in the front door and within moments a sales person was right there asking if I needed any help. I explained I was just browsing, but if I needed help I would find him. I began making my way through the store checking out all of the unique and different pieces they had to offer. Sure they had some normal stuff you see other places but mostly it was all different. They have things that would appeal to most any taste styles except for traditional. As I wandered through the giant showroom I found many things I was interested in and the best part of all was they were not charging you an arm and a leg. Every once in awhile the sales staff would pop over and ask if we had any questions and what we did ask they were quick to answer for us. I would definitely say if you are looking for modern or just all in all unique furniture this is the place. We were ready to buy our first piece of modern, leather furniture. We looked at local furniture stores, but decided we wanted the very best. That would be Scandinavian Designs. We found the PERFECT couch and two chairs in a walnut color which were very firm, as we wanted. The manager (Frank) helped us and delivery was perfect. After a few months, the firmness turned to squishy. Frank was great, and sent someone to replace the cushions. Now, after six years, the entire couch is peeling. It wasn't real leather at all. We feel sick about it. I will increase my rating to five stars if Scandinavian Designs will help us out with this. Six years is a long time, but this shouldn't have happened. Frank is still the manager in Rocklin. He helped us immediately. First he asked us to send some closeup photos of what had happened. He determined that the peeling wasn't from wear, it was from faulty fabric. He gave us an incredible gift certificate to use on anything in the store. We chose the same couch, in better leather, and in red this time. It was promptly delivered and the old one taken away. This couch is even firmer! Thank you so much Frank! read more

Great product selection. I had scoured a number of sites and stores searching for a dresser and high chest. When I checked the Scandinavian Designs site, they were in the midst of a sale. They had exactly what I was looking for. I purchased them on-line with the store delivering the items to my home. The quality is exceptional. Both items are entirely made of wood with metal slides for the drawers. I am more than pleased with my purchases. I have received so many compliments. I've been in the Rocklin store twice recently. First time I sat on every single dining room chair in the store. Second time, I went in to purchase one chair and bring it home. I got an odd feeling the second time, like I was invisible, or not dressed up enough or like I just didn't demand any attention at all. Again, I wandered the store, sitting in many chairs, and passing staff that did not even say hello. I picked up a chair and brought it to the cashier area. I purchased it. AND I picked it up, again, and carried it out to my car. No one even offered to hold the front door for me. I found it very odd. Now I want to purchase 6 chairs and I do like the chairs. I know I can do the whole purchase online. Just sayin' .....very odd experience to balance some of these other wonderful service experiences. I have been browsing for furniture for couple of weeks to furnish my new home. I saw a bedroom furniture set I liked and ordered them to be delivered/installed. The furniture here is not cheap, but I value the quality so I didn't mind spending a couple thousand of dollars on new furniture. The delivery was on time and have no complaints. But after the furniture was installed, I noticed one of the drawers was sliding out automatically. The slider wasn't installed correctly, so I went by the store to ask about the issue. The manager was not in at that time, so I called and left a message/ emailed the manager to get it fixed since the furniture is still under warranty. No reply. It's been two weeks now and I am very frustrated with their customer service. Why pay so much money for bad service?! read more

After looking at this review a year and some later-I still agree with my original post. So here's how everything turned out...the next Thursday-I'm on my way to pick up the table when the warehouse mgr. calls me to say that the truck has been delayed and won't be in until 11 am the next day-'oh joy'. They ask if I'd like them to deliver it to my residence but I tell them no-I'll pick it up because judging from your current status-I'm not even gonna give you the chance to mess this up any further. Long story short-I did finally end up picking up my table the next day and it was as beautiful as i thought it would be but that delivery-pick up thing....not the business! read more
