My mother in law lives in this neighborhood so we decided to stop in for breakfast and have our son try his first cinnamon roll and they even had a high chair with a table top for him. No joke, we ate here 3 more times in the one week we were visiting from Arizona. I have never had a more delicious cinnamon roll anywhere. It was her golden birthday, and I worked with Chef Nani to go from concept to a stunning creation that was a very tasty summer solstice lemon cheesecake. The process was swift, painless, professional, and was pleasant because of her cool and bubbly personality. She also delivered the cake personally, which was a huge bonus! Darcy is an absolute baking artist. I cornered her for an urgent order for my son's wedding (yes I know, had more leeway, thought I could do it but got sick) and she was so happy to help. She gave the most beautiful products (lots of cupcakes and a 3 layer cake) and the bride and groom and many guests said it was the most delicious red velvet cake they have ever had. My son still talks about the experience of picking up a cupcake and finding it the most insanely delicate delicious thing ever. Someone brought me a box of pastries as a gift. That was probably the best scone I have ever eaten. I haven't even been to the bakery but the scone alone gets you 5 stars from me. The cinnamon roll...usually the outer layers aren't even worth eating. Each layer of this one had the same gooey texture. And there was *enough frosting*!! It's a tiny shop hiding off the street running behind Fred Meyers. I stop in here every so often and buy a batch of goodies, ranging from meat pies to caramel rolls. I have enjoyed every one of the items. The only thing that hangs me up is the 2 o clock closing time. Best to be there early. read more

It's good for cinnamon rolls, I'll definitely get those again! After my sister in law said she highly recommends it for birthdays I thought I'd try it for an autumn cake with fall flowers(asters, dahlias, sunflowers, mums)in autumn shades. I ordered the almond cake with caramel filling and buttercream icing. I arrived on our scheduled pickup day at 1pm. I was presented with a layer cake that was frosted in spring green! There were only about 6 blossoms on the top looking like it was a child's cake! This was supposed to be elegant for a mature woman? Spring green is not an autumn color! The blossoms appeared child like. I requested the blossoms cascade down the side, didn't happen! I was told to take it out of fridge at least 5 hours prior to serving. When it was brought out to our table at the restaurant and I tried to cut and serve it, it was so sloppy and soft the layers wouldn't even hold together. The filling instead of being caramel was buttercream flavored that tasted like artificial caramel flavoring. It was also 1" thick that contributed to a tall cake. I felt confused, maybe I didn't understand what they offered and their lack of creativity( when I asked for asters not to mention the other blooms, the baker had no clue what I was asking for and had to look it up! I'm just used to ordering my cakes from a bakery in Portland that has hit the autumn flower idea on the nail when I've ordered for prior fall birthdays. I guess the 55 minute drive to Portland to get what I want that tastes great and wowed my guests will be worth it. I just so wanted to keep it local. read more

I walked in here, on a cold wintry Oregon day, and Brown Butter Bakery swept me off my feet. BBB, I could fall in love with you. Probably a good thing it would be a long distance relationship. Otherwise, I might be there every morning. I now try to time my rare visits to Scappoose with your opening hours. On my first visit, you won my heart with amazing counter service (sorry if this sounds creepy, but cuteness, politeness, and a delicious culinary outcome win my heart these days), a delicious small Key lime pie, and a succulent molasses cookie. Second visit-- you stomped on my heart. Your closing time on Yelp did not match your current closing time. Sad face. Third visit, you rekindled the magic. Excellent counter service, another amazing molasses cookie, and a carrot cake muffin (which I am not usually a huge fan of, and happily devoured). I had made breakfast before I left the house, but the savories look awesome. I need to try those. In any case, stepping off of Highway 30 for a slight detour to this bakery is well worth your while. I gave them some ideas of what I wanted the cake to look like and they delivered. Very impressed. I also tried one of their "day old" cupcakes and I couldn't tell it was made the day prior. The entire staff is well trained and very personable. The atmosphere is great, even with COVID restrictions in place. I love a good, gooey cinnamon roll and that is exactly what you get. Not so much frosting that you cannot enjoy the roll! My number one addiction is their snickerdoodle cookies. Often I will stop to grab breakfast on my way to work and eat the cookie in the car on the way. Our family has taken to calling them the car cookie! The vanilla scones are amazing too. We had a custom cake ordered with another local shop and a few days before we need it we were told they would not be able to have it on our requested day. With very little notice the Brown Butter Bakery put it together for us and it was a little less expensive. LOVED the cake. Exactly what we asked for and so very tasty!
