Hubs and I had heard from my auntie-in-law about her not-so-positive experience years ago- so it wasn't like we were eager to come here for dinner then. But since we wrapped up with errands in the area, Scaramella's was it. Located in a mini strip mall in Dobbs Ferry, Scaramella's is very old-school- but with a splash of class and then some. Once you pass the foyer, their bar area greets you followed by their large dining room. At about 5pm on a Saturday, you can be seated with no issues. Any time after that, folks start piling up. Our server Anne Marie was no bull-shitter; got to the chase when she gave me a hush-hush tip on a Pear Salad I was eyeing. She's my girl alright. Our appetizers, were plentiful and tasty. Forget our main plates- because if you think you'll be getting a polite portion of pasta or any meal at that- think again. I honestly don't know if hub's spinach pasta was homemade- but that sucker was good. My $40 Swordfish+fresh carrots with an unexpected corn+ spinach medley, was tasty and abundant. Actually, I had leftovers. Can I also mention that these folks don't play around with their pours because my Lemon Drop was potent! Listen, I don't care that Scaramella's is located in strip mall or that my auntie-in-law didn't enjoy her meal years ago. From the looks of it, this place is happy-loud and has character. And no, it's not totally easy to park outside. That aside, our meals were satisfying, well-priced and the happy chaos, is all part of Scaramella's local charm. read more

If you want old classic tradition Italian cuisine, this is the restaurant to be, the Mrs. & I went for lunch after checking on our property, we seen the restaurant many times , looks tiny from the outside , but they can cater food and reserve a party of 20-25. It's a mom and pop restaurant, the pasta made fresh , wry delicious!, service was quick and fast for lunch, the locals , hang out there. They have a lunch menu& dinner menu, while eating , you listen to Italian songs, the decorations puts you in a scene of old Italy. We ordered the fried calamari/ fried meatballs, bolognese & tortellini nonna . Our son and cousin live in Dobbs Ferry so this place is a local hot spot. Very cordial management and they remember you after a couple of visits Electric Italian with a very large offering. Been there multiple time and have taken food home for take out at home. Large portions at reasonable prices. We live in California and we will be taking 3 new people this Friday for dinner. My flight back to the west coast was canceled Monday because of all the rain and storms so I had a night to myself. I sat at the bar and had a really great meal with the burratta arugula salad and a pasta dish. Food was delicious like home cooking, fresh, and piping hot which is the way I like it. I came here with my family for my sisters fiancé birthday & they were happy with everything in the past when they visited, so I was looking forward to coming here too. We had reservations & when we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our server was polite, funny & personable. My sister said the calamari was the best she's ever had, so we ordered calamari, baked clams & fried meatballs. The calamari was perfection as my sister described. It was golden brown & cooked to perfection. The baked clams were delicious & were stuffed with breadcrumbs. The whole table loved the meatballs as well. For entrees I had the seared scallops over risotto with chopped shrimp. The scallops were perfect & the risotto was creamy & delicious. My family had the swordfish, branzino & lobster ravioli. Everyone was happy with their entrees, except the swordfish taste was just ok. For dessert we had Italian cheesecake, chocolate cake & cannolis. All were good as well. For beverages we had a bottle of white wine & some mixed drinks after & cappuccino before dessert. We celebrated Mother's day here and was not disappointed. The loaf of bread came out nice and warm, but it was 10mins later before our order was taken. The two appetizers we ordered were of generous portions, and both were prepared well. The main entrees were also of generous portions resulting in leftovers for us to take home for lunch the next day. Food was delicious, and service was great. The only disappointment was finding a small sliver of wood in the veal dish that was taken home for lunch the following day. Pretty sure this was an accidental oversight from one of the kitchen staff, but overall it was a very enjoyable meal. read more

I attended Podiatry dinner meeting on 08/27/2024. Service was just horrible. My main course never was brought to me at all. When I asked waiter where is my salmon when everybody already finished their main course. He said to me: "We do not know. Maybe somebody else took it!" Whoever schedules dinner meeting in Scaramella's Restaurant avoid it by all means if you want doctors who you invite to be happy with your dinner presentation. Food was extremely disappointing. Stracciatella Soup was primarily spinach. Branzino special over Risotto ($36.00) was flavorless and soupy! Soupy Risotto? Pork chops weren't hard as rocks; they were harder than rocks. If dropped on the floor they would shatter into a million pieces; very tough and over cooked they simply couldn't be eaten. Served with potatoes and peppers in an unknown liquid at $41.00, the cost was highway robbery. Prices have risen while food quality has seriously declined. Leftovers are packed in aluminum containers with paper lids which begin to leak before you even leave the restaurant. No matter. You won't want to take the food home anyway. read more

We were in the lower Hudson River valley area recently, and Googled 'Italian restaurants near me,' and Scaramella's showed up just a couple of miles from where we were (Ardsley). What a delight! Delicious old school Italian fare (I got their shrimp scampi, which I haven't had in ages), fantastic service, and a bartender who could mix old fashioned cocktails like a Sidecar. We made reservations, and a good thing, too, as they were packed to the gills on a Sunday night. There were at least three family celebrations going on, so obviously a favorite spot for special events. The noise level was not bad, considering all the celebrating going on. I'm just sorry we don't have an identical Italian place at home in Richmond, VA. read more

I came with my whole family here for the second time for my 29th birthday this past Sunday night. This was one of my worst dinner experiences in my life. It made me feel even worse as I ended up getting sick from my dinner the next day when I ate it at home because the order was messed up the first time, so I had to take my birthday dinner to go. The worst part about the whole meal was the service. Our waiter Roger, multiple times misheard myself and my mother. Also, my sister asked for apple juice multiple times for her two toddler sons and was ignored. I felt a little awkward but had to speak extra loudly so my two nephews could get apple juice. As someone who worked in the restaurant business for 5 years during college, I felt to call the restaurant today and see what happen because everyone is entitled to a bad day. Scaramella's Restaurant in Yonkers is the real deal! We stopped in on a Friday night and the place was nearly packed at 5 pm! The outdoor large tent that was erected during Covid was nearly as packed as inside. This let me know that we were in for a good experience! Though the interior is nice, it has a slightly dated look to it, but this restaurant has been here for decades although by other names. The menu and food itself has a bit of a more upscale approach than most neighborhood Italian spots along the Hudson's quaint towns. I tried the classic Chicken Parmesan which was an incredibly large chicken breast that had been pounded perfectly, layered with a quality cheese, and then smothered with their fantastic marinara sauce! Perhaps the unexpected winner of the night was the Stuffed Pork Chop! I never order pork chops when dining out as I find them to be dry and flavorless. This was actually quite the opposite, and would have been my preferred dish after simply having just one bite! The Scallops Risotto was as expected, very rich, but it was outstanding as well! These type of neighborhood Italian restaurants that you find along the Hudson are hands down better than any you find in Manhattan itself! read more

I wanted to wait before I gave this wonderful restaurant a 5 star review. Originally it was because I got lazy, but also, I really wanted to try it again to make sure. I don't want to mislead the 2-3 people that trust my reviews. Well, I just had my second meal here and hands down this is my favorite Italian restaurant in Westchester. I went a few weeks ago for a belated birthday dinner with friends and tonight I took my girlfriend for Mother's Day. It's in a small strip mall bordering the Saw Mill River Parkway (yup I used the full name). It's actually really nice inside and doesn't give off the strip mall restaurant vibes that some places do. They also have two big tents outside for your social distancing worries. I sat inside the first time and outside the second. Outside was nice, it was warm in the tent with heaters and the bus staff was all over doing everything. The first time I went I had the Zucchini Flowers. Wow, stuffed with cheese and fried golden zucchini. There were tender and flavorful, they even tasted light for what they were. It's usually a seasonal appetizer, if you see it, jump on it. The second appetizer I tried was the Eggplant Rollatini. Delicious delicate eggplant stuffed with cheese and covered in sauce. Absolutely wonderful. Both appetizers came with 3 portions. The first entree I had was the Rigatoni Monte Mare. Amazing! Chopped up shrimp and scallops with arugula on rigatoni with a pink cream sauce. It was good I almost got it a second time. Although, I didn't. I decided on the Seared Sea Scallops. 4 perfectly cooked scallops that basically melt in your mouth on a bed of risotto with chopped shrimp and asparagus. I honestly think everything here must be heavenly. The main courses are phenomenal. Finally, I had the same dessert both outings. They have a Toasted Almond Tiramisu. Yes! Remember those delicious ice cream bars from Good Humor? Basically a grown up version of that. With whipped cream. I can't stop thinking about how good this place is. Scaramella's offers traditional Italian fine dining, but the charm was lost on us. While we showed up craving the nostalgia of an old-school white tablecloth restaurant -- warm, attentive, and experienced hosts serving up classic dishes that were full of flavor -- what we got instead was pricey, mediocre food delivered with nothing more than perfunctory service. We arrived early for our reservation, and our host offered us a seat at the bar while we waited for our table. They do have a full bar with a wide selection of spirits and a few specialty cocktails, but we opted for wine. The wine was a generous pour and a good price for Westchester ($10 a glass), but the cabernet and the pinot noir we ordered were only so-so. My wife left most of her glass on the table. The bar is a cozy space, and a few loud patrons drained any pleasure out of the experience rather quickly. When we entered the dining room, we saw other tables being wined and dined like old friends, with gracious service and smiles all around. By contrast, what we got was utilitarian at best. Our server never even greeted us (unless you count "Has anyone helped you?") or took the trouble to explain the specials. There were a couple more brief check-ins, a dessert order, and a long wait for the check. He got the job done, but he lacked the grace and expertise we expect from waiters at fine dining restaurants, and on the whole we got the feeling that we were on the sidelines of a dining experience that the restaurant was focused on making special for other guests. The food itself lacked any distinction beyond large portion sizes. We ordered at the economical end of the menu, which started just north of $20 a plate. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana, and I had the lasagna. She reported that the eggplant was nicely fried, but she was disappointed that the dish didn't come with pasta, especially since it was listed under the pasta section on the menu. Pasta was one of several sides listed on the menu for a $6 upcharge, but for entrees that are already priced pretty steeply that seems unreasonable. My lasagna was approximately the size of a brick. (Indeed, both entrees were big enough to provide the better part of a second meal the following day.) But it was otherwise mediocre. The dish was topped by a generous heaping slab of melted mozzarella (they might have left it in for a few more minutes to let it brown and bubble, but that's a minor quibble), the meat stuffed between the pasta layers lacked flavor, and there wasn't much ricotta to be found. The overall effect was a mouthful of pasta and mozzarella, which was underwhelming. The best dish of the night was the ricotta cheesecake we shared for dessert, which was slightly over-baked but nonetheless showed a deft touch with the sugar and lemon. I don't think we will return to Scaramella's. There are just too many better fine dining options in the area -- including Piccola in Dobbs Ferry, Mima Vinoteca in Irvington, and L'inizio, which is just around the corner -- that offer better service and stronger dishes at a similar price point. And there are too many family-style Italian restaurants that offer huge portions of flavorful food at cheaper prices (I'm thinking in particular of Capri in Tarrytown). I'm happy to leave Scaramella's to the regulars who seem to enjoy it so much. read more

Scaramella's is an upscale, delicious Italian restaurant located in Dobbs Ferry. It is right off the saw mill parkway and next to Ashford Avenue, a busy street. They have outdoor seating (in their parking lot) available and the restaurant follows Covid-19 regulations. The staff are always very welcoming and informative about all items on the menu. The calamari, chicken scarpiello, pork chops, and penne vodka were all amazing. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is very traditional Italian. read more

Used to be one of our favorite places and the food itself is good, but the service has become abysmal while prices keep increasing. The last time we ordered take out, they forget every single side pasta. We had to return for them, to find the kitchen then made them incorrectly. No apology, no offer to make it right. We gave them another try, and were told us our order would be ready in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, it wasn't ready, again no apology, just a "well we're busy." The restaurant was no where near full, and no one else came in for pick up in the 20 minutes we waited ignored by the bar, so busy with what? It's such a shame that they've become so unreliable in recent months. read more
