Simply delicious! Found this spot on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! The menu is small but in a good way that you're not overwhelmed with options and there is something for everyone. Traditional Sicilian cooking done well! We started with the spiedini. So simple but done so well. The prosciutto was so fresh. A nice crisp to the fresh mozz and the sauce was a perfect compliment. The pastas are homemade. I would recommend both the butternut squash and the shrimp dish but the shrimp edged out the winner for me. A silky lemon butter sauce and the shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. We didn't have enough room for dessert but looking forward to getting back to try more dishes! They have a large open dining room and a new event space next door that is perfect for a private party. Piccola is a phenomenal restaurant located in Dobbs Ferry. I've been here a few times and recommend everything and anything on their menu. I highly recommend their Polpette Al Sug (meatball appetizer) as it was to die for! The pesto gnocchi was also out of this world. It's always a pleasure to visit this eatery! The warm ambiance, the excellent service and the delicious food are what sets this restaurant apart from other places. The Honey and I have made Piccola our "go to" restaurant, whether we're having a full meal at a table or whether we stop by for a quick bite at the bar. This time The Honey started with the Buratta appetizer, I, the grilled octopus. Both were plated beautifully, and delicious! The burrata fresh, served over tomatoes and some greens, the octopus was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. We followed this with a shared pasta dish, penne with crumbled sausage in a sauce. If Piccola Trattoria's chef/owner didn't help my husband carry a vintage table to our antique and vintage pop-up shop we had a few doors down, we wouldn't have known about Piccola's major reopening plans here. Customers of ours told us about Piccola Trattoria previous location on this same side of the street- except further down and slightly closer to Main St. Currently, Piccola T. has taken and even expanded the space where The Rare Bit Bristish pub was located. It's completely gutted, redone and redesigned with minimalist off-white walls, copper pots hung on wooden planks and black window and door trims- both on the outside and inside. Because my Physical Therapist did such a wonder job at getting my healing knee to where it's at after my torn meniscus surgery- hubs and I, my PT and his wife came for dinner. Hubs had gotten the Paccheri Al Forno with large rigatoni, meat+sausage bolognese, ricotta and baked mozzarella cheese like in a terracotta dish. He loved it. It was so filling, he had leftovers for like two days. And I had the Branzino that was lovely. Our second outing here was with my friend Chuck L. and his wife Julie for a Thursday night dinner after Valentine's. Our starters were wonderful and so was dinner. Between my husband's pork chop and my fettuccine(?) with shrimp, these were both cooked tastefully. To round things off, dessert was excellent as well. Price is incredible and so was service. I don't often eat out at Italian restaurants, you can end up swimming in a sea of flavorless ricotta without warning, but Piccola Trattoria was the recommendation of an experienced gourmand, and was it a good one! We had a large party and shared the appetizers family style. Everything was delicious with v fresh ingredients. I can see the portions being too large for for one person, but just ask for a box and take it home! Entrees were also huge and could easily be shared. This is one of the best dining experiences you will ever have. I have eaten at many highly rated restaurants and Piccola Trattoria sits among the top of the list. The ambiance is open and new. The place was recently renovated and occupies several square storefronts on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry. A large bar occupies the center of the restaurant - perfect for grabbing a drink or some appetizers if you are not interested in a sit-down meal. Our servers paid attention to us without rushing us through our meal. One server even overheard my wife and I discussing sharing our two entrees and she brought extra plates to make the sharing easier. Well done. The food is among the best I've ever had. For appetizers we adored the Sicilian eggplant and the octopus. Amazing flavor profile that was complex and made for some of the best tasting food I've ever eaten. We also loved the calamari and the mozzarella wedges. For main courses, we ordered the chicken, which had been brined to perfection in an amazing light gravy. The gnocchi with sausage and broccoli rabbe was light and flavor filled. Everything was perfect. I cannot stress enough how much you need to eat here. It is an experience that cannot be missed. My friend and I decided to try this place. We walked in pretty charming great bartender, gus. I was hoping for a good experience but no.... I ordered cacio e pepe and it was watery and tasteless. The fish had very little flavoring. The drinks we ordered were all good. I ended up having a salad. The dessert was delicious. Disappointed that this was not a good experience. Definitely the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to, and right now the best restaurant in Dobbs Ferry. The food is always, without fail, delicious. The chef is ever present and this reflects in the quality of the food. There is not a bad choice on the menu!!! The staff is attentive and warm. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, tables and seating are comfortable. The dining area is a bit loud, but not terrible, and if loud is a concern it is a bit quieter if you eat at the high tops in the bar area. We had a fabulous experience at Piccola Trattoria while celebrating our son's confirmation. We had a part of 12 people and every single guest was treated like a VIP. This place is a real asset to Dobbs Ferry. it used to be in a smaller room down the block, then that building was sold, and then after a year the owner re-opened in the new much larger room. Service is very good and attentive without being overwhelming. The food is spectacular and we have had great pastas and salads and seafoods over several visits here. The desserts are perfect. It's too soon to write a giant review of the new space because I've eaten here only two or three times. But the kitchen is doing amazing work and they've really hit a rhythm. read more

Perhaps the most unforgivable sin for an Italian restaurant in the New York area is mediocre-to-bad bread. Literally the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Arrived at 750 for an 8pm reservation. Were told that it would be 5-10 minutes so we went to the bar for a drink. That took almost 20 minutes. After our drink we went back to the hostess and she said "so sorry" it will be just 5-10 minutes. We specified the corner table that was clearing. The server said no problem it's being cleared right now. Suddenly a couple sat at that table. The hostess said "so sorry". Then a group of 6 came in and sat within 5 minutes. We went back to the hostess and she said "so sorry" So if you want to be told So Sorry 3 times then check out this place. We have no idea if there is food because we never sat and if you want to wait a long time for a drink then this is your place. read more

This place is amazing!!! We had such a wonderful diner. The new space is very welcoming. Impeccable service, the waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. The food was excellent, we had the Mozzarella in Carroza, the branzino and Genovese homemade pappardelle pasta and to end with a dessert that brought me all the way back home to Argentina: Caramelized Dulce de leche Crepes, To top the evening for entertainment a lovely opera singer to surprise us with lovely Christmas songs. Piccola has always been my favorite restaurant and now it's better than ever! Chef/owner Sergio is in a new, larger location but he still manages to make you feel like you're having dinner at his home. His food is outstanding and the servers know the menu very well. They know great detail about the dishes so can always help you decide what to order. And they do it with a smile. When Sergio can pull away from the stove he walks around and greets his guests to make sure they're happy. And last night his adorable hostess even serenaded the guests in Italian. 2 weeks ago we made a reservation for May 4th at 7pm. On Friday we received a text to text back 1 if the reservation was good or 9 in we wanted to cance, we text back 1. Thirty minutes before our arrival we received a text stating your reservation will be ready at 7pm. This was an important evening celebrating my Daughter Lauren's birthday. While we were a block away from the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation we received a call from one of the hostess telling us they can not honor our reservation , imagine after all this contact. I was already there so I along with my family entered the restaurant only to be told there was nothing they could do. I requested to speak to the owner Sergio who was in the kitchen, he refused to come out to speak with me. The main hostess was an arrogant individual who was absolutely nasty. Saturday night 7pm now what, crickets from this owner. So if you have a reservation cancel it because they will probably cancel it on you. Anyone with a clear head that expects to be honored think again and avoid this establishment. read more
