So I normally don't do reviews but I feel like I need to. I had just moved here from Texas and was looking for someone to retouch my highlights didn't really want anything crazy but I have dark roots so they needed a retouch. My hair stylist from Texas told me to let them know exactly what I wanted so I told her my hair history started off with box dye. And we have been working on lightening my hair with balayage and now I have been doing baby-lights and regular highlights combo ,Staying cool tone not too ashy. So when I told her that she didn't agree said that I was to too dark for that told me I needed a shadow root and Idk what else she said but I told her whatever she thought was better for me I trusted her. I just didn't want the dark roots anymore, more of an even tone I guess. She seemed to know exactly what she was talking about and the price that they gave me was about $250 dollars so I was like that's a pretty big price so I took it as they knew exactly what they were doing. Don't get me wrong the girl was super friendly and was not disrespectful of any sort plus she was super nice and was being kind to the fact that I was already having a bad day. She did my hair washed it and said she needed to tone it some more because it looked brassy so she did but when I got home and looked at it in good lighting it was really bad I called them and told them I wasn't happy with my hair and since THEY DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY AT ALL they asked to fix it but I honestly just wanted my money back and find somewhere else but I agreed to go back so I did and the second stylist was kind as well but I think by the second treatment my hair was completely damaged already. I can literally cry right now it took years for my hair to grow and my hair NEVER GROWS and I went to this place and had a bad experience! And now my hair needs tlc and length that I probably won't ever get back. Very nice people but I would never come here again. read more

She has taken me from a deep chocolate brown (I think she called me a level 5 when I first sat in her chair ) to a silky silver fox - IN ONE SITTING!!!!!! That unheard of feat is why she is the hair wizard! ‍‍ and we didn't stop there. I recently challenged Oz to add an array of fabulous colors after Pinteresting "mermaid hair" and she did not disappoint. I have been cutting my hair with them fit one year and now I have to say: horrible customer service. TWICE I booked online with them and when I arrive at the place they say "the booking did not go through". Anthony was the clerk and could not care less about this issue and did not try to accommodate a time for me with any staff member (there was clearly at least 2 staff members not performing work at the time) even though I said I could cut my hair with any available. Then Anthony said that it is fine for me to leave and not come back. Clearly not in need of clients and not worried about retaining them. Also, one time I had a family emergency and had to reschedule or cancel and they did not allow it and proceeded to try and charge my credit card anyways. read more

I was new to Denver and also looking for a change and I decided to give Scarlet Salon a try. I was definitely more than a little nervous considering I was planning to change my look and try somewhere new all at once. I was paired with Linson after explaining what I wanted and the results could not have been more perfect! I asked for balayage highlights and pink and I really had no idea how to explain it the right way, but I came out looking exactly like my pictures. I have since been back 3 times for cuts and more color and I am soooooo happy with the results. Linson is just the sweetest guy ever and each time we try something a little different and it ends up looking so so so perfect. This place may be expensive but EMILY does amazing things with curly hair and I was extremely happy with how my cut turned out. I was not great at explaining how I want my hair to look because I mostly wear it up. My bff from Chicago recommended him to me - he's new to the salon from Chicago - and I'm sure glad she did as I was having a hard time finding a stylist in Denver I liked. Dave does amazing balayage work and is a color expert. I love how he keeps my blonde bright, shiny, and natural looking. I'm pretty light anyway but he helps me keep away the white bleach out streaks that can happen with lots of sun exposure. He's also a super nice person and is very enjoyable to hang with for the hour plus color applications take and will make you feel like a million bucks after a visit. Years ago I began coming here for haircuts as a matter of sheer (pun intended) convenience, as I lived on the block. Serendipitously, the service and quality of their haircuts was great. It never really mattered who I made an appointment with, I was always pleased with the results. Friday I dropped in and was able to get an appointment scheduled for an hour later, which was surprising because they were very busy. Marcus was the stylist, and he was fantastic. I've been pleased with the product here for years, but never bothered to write a review. Marcus showed a level of care and attention to detail that I was unaccustomed to. I am a stickler for great service and usually when people do a good job, I don't bother with a review because... it's their JOB! Marcus impressed me by going far above and beyond. I'll definitely be coming back and asking for him specifically. I can only speak for men's haircuts, but if you're looking for that "old world" European barber level of service; visit Scarlet and ask for Marcus. read more

Charlee is AMAZING! I went in for a balayage and told her that every time I get a balayage it turns out orange therefore I want it toned as much as possible and to add lots of dimension. This review pertains to a bridal party booking not so much the day to day stylists.... Bottom Line: do NOT book a bridal party here to get hair and make up done on the day of the wedding, you will be late to your wedding and regret it -- no question. We all arrived super excited to get our hair and nails done at 8 am sharp...There were 8 of us that were supposed to get hair done and 4 make ups and we were told we would be out of there by 11 am all done --- that was the first mistake was.... (1) extremely poor time management from the salon... we were given 2 stylists + 1 make up artist for all the girl and the first 2 girls took 2 hours to get thier hair done so we were sitting there at 10 am with 6 girls still needing to get through which was not going to happen (and didn't happen) (2) The guy they had in charge of the "up do's" was absolutely terrible... I asked him for beach wave curls and a waterfall braid on one side (I've done this to myself in 25 minutes before).... I look at the clock and 45 minutes later he has given me the most ratted curls and has pinned my hair up into a "crown" it looked nothing like the picture and the girls were all like - are you serious? what is this guy thinking??!?! I had him take it out but my hair was so warped by then that I knew I was already going to have to rush to do it myself before pictures. I was so upset and they STILL charged me for it. (2b) This same guy was washing all the girls hair and blow drying it before he curled it or pinned it up (we all wanted simple curls with a couple pins) and every girl knows that dirty hair curls and sticks much better - the guy event admitted that to me while I was in the chair?! Is he even credible to be in this salon? (3) We were so late and ended up all rushing to a house to do our own hair..... clock hit 11 am and we had a brunch to get to before pictures and the wedding (any bride knows that wedding days are insanely tight timelines) so we had to leave... all of us with none of our hair done (only the girls who got make up done had that done --- which only the girls who had Kitty (I think her name was) liked it. Thank goodness the Bride was so chill but it was a wedding day nightmare. read more

Thuy was my stylist that was referred to me whom was booked, however Kitty the receptionist is great at maintaining a wait list bc as soon as a cancellation took place, she called me and I was lucky enough to get in the next day. I'm asian and have very coarse, porous hair and typically pick up a lot of brass when trying to go blonde. And if you've read in my previous reviews, I hate it when I go to a colorist, who puts me under the dryer with foils in my hair that took more than an hour with a result of darker roots and dry brittle ends. Well not with Thuy. As I'm new here to Denver, and am overall pleased with her service and talents. She got me 4-5 levels blonder in literally an hour-twos session. That includes blow-dry and style. You know she's good when she's hopping sink bowls helping other stylists with their colors and providing her professional opinion. I'm scheduled to visit with her again in a few weeks to freshen my color and hopefully get some extensions put in. She gets booked, so I recommend to schedule in advance. Very spunky and upbeat salon - I love the energy and ambience. A much older building but great location in the Highlands. read more

As promised, I said I would provide an update regarding my keratin/brazilian treatment. A short two months after my appointment, my hair is back to it's natural frizzy and unruly state. Up to six months? LIES! Two months is not even close to what was promised or advertised on the website or by the owner. Also, my "ombre" aka highlights has grown out and I now have beautiful dark roots. I just moved here from the east coast and took a chance on this place because of all of the positive reviews. My hair is long and medium coarse (being half Asian/half white) with natural waves. Amy cut my hair. The space is cool--a converted old mortuary chapel, and Amy is really a super sweet person. The staff were all friendly too. They are not pretentious. I think Amy did an OK job on my hair. The front layers framing my face look really good and are soft/lay nicely, but the layers she added to the back seem a bit choppy and start too short for my liking--sort of 90s looking. Not really my style, and I'm feeling pretty bad about having to grow this out again :(. It's probably also my fault too. I didn't really press her about exactly how it would look or show her a picture, but I had read on her website that long layers were her specialty, so I thought I would give her a chance .... Amy is also really into styling (she blow dried and curled my hair and put hairspray in it). It looked nice, but I'm not really into having that much product in my hair, and all the curls prevented me from seeing how she cut the back. If I would've seen it, I would've asked her to blend it in or something. I paid 55. I won't be back because I'm not into this cut or the products, but Amy and the other people there seemed like pretty laid back, genuine people. ------------------ P.S. Just wanted to add that I'm really impressed with the customer service. Amy sent me an e-mail a few days ago asking to have me back in the salon with another stylist for a complimentary hair condition or styling. So far, this is the only time Yelp has steered me wrong. I had a special event in Denver so I came in for a blowout. The warehouse space is really nice and the stylist was sweet. She washed my hair nicely and blew it out a bit. Then she proceeds to take out a teasing comb and begin teasing my hair. I was a little shocked but thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt that she would brush it out. She did, However, the end result still looked like I'd stuck my finger in the light socket. As I left the salon everyone proceeded to ooh and ah over how great I looked but there was a look of slight panic in everyone's eyes. Trust me, it did not look great. When the picture of my event came out more than one of my friends used the word "tragic." I considered posting said picture here so you could see the evidence but I cringe even thinking about it so I'm just going to let you use your imagination. I didn't make them correct it or make a big deal out of it, because the teasing would have required a whole 'nother wash out and restyle and I didn't have time for that before my event (my fault), but my advice is, if you go here with a blowout, be VERY specific and bring a picture. I don't know if teased hair is still in vogue in Denver or something (can't imagine that it is) and I really don't know how she got teasing from what I told her (which was "curled under") but anyway, I won't be coming back. read more
